  1. Just about sums up my opionion plus I love the mix of people you can find someone from any segment of cincinnati. I also love the IGA, I would rather pay alitle bit higher prices and not have to pay for gas, were and ter on the car(enviroment) stress of driving, and pain of a giant kroger. IMHO the iga is great its a shame every neighborhood dosnt have one.
  2. From Skyline to Baba budans is 1 mile, so from campus to the gas light is about a 1/2 mile, I think the thing for some of the students is that the dorms are on the east side of campus. Plus IMHO it take till about spring time freshman year before you really start to explore the area around campus, and get comfortable with it, especially if your from out side the city.
  3. This is an email i got back when i was trying to find out some info on this very subject "Jim Tarbell, many others and I have been to Portland with John Schneider to look at both light rail and streetcars. Streetcars would help Cincinnati become a more pedestrian city. Streetcars are not so much about transportation as about stimulating development. The Pearl District in Portland is the preeminent example. Some of us are proponents of a downtown system that would connect the Banks to McMicken Avenue. I have heard that UC is interested in some kind of streetcar system, perhaps to connect with an interchange at Martin Luther King. My understanding is that, at the present, they aim to extend the reach of their shuttle busses. If that system works well, they might move to streetcars. Mike Moose"

  5. Thanks wally... great neighborhood one of my favorites
  6. I hope so the whole area is going to reap huge benefits of the new money being spent in the around uc. Baba budans is a great example the old building had a good feel to it but if I had never had their coffee before i wouldn't have just walked in to check it out, but now the new building is great very open inviting and they also sell high quality beer now. I'm allways in favor of renovating instead of demolition but some of thouse building just had to go. I relay wish they wouldn't have gotten rid of in the wood that was the best place in the city to get breakfast at anytime of day, but it could have used a face lift on the inside all thouse years of smoke really made it kind of dingy.
  7. Has anyone else noticed how great chicago gyros new windows look. Or Baba budans new new place (the old bearcat cafe) The area has allot of promise, to bad no new stores have started to go into the building on Calhoun, that UC built maybee once they start getting some rent from stores their they can actually start the rest of the condos that need to be built. Also has everyone noticed that people are actually buying the condos on Jefferson i think they are going for upwards of 300k.
  8. looking at the then and now picture makes me want to puke
  9. basically it goes into how its all about genetics, motivation, and drive. It also goes into how you cant tell much info from test scores because of the motivation of the teacher to teach the test. Its worth the read and might make you think differently about how you judge a school.
  10. You should read the book freakenomics great book and it will make you think about the whole judging a school based on test scores or location
