Northern Kentucky: Random Development and News
jack.c.amos replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & Construction“Project Rooster.” Project Rooster, which would be nestled on 137 acres below Interstate 275..." i don't know how 500 parking spaces, and 66 truck docks, and 450 trailer storage spaces, and a 1.2 MILLION SF building are nestled.

Northern Kentucky: Random Development and News
jack.c.amos replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & Constructionits so.... brown, tan & grey... generic. the old turfway was dated, but it was iconic and unique - especially with the racing green horse lights at night. nothing really wrong with the new building.... it could be anywhere in the country though.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Development and News
(i have heard the work on 33 W 4th got carried away and cut through some structure during their work which is why it still sits vacant today) this just a slight attempt a humor with regards to the image of the guy running the power equipment in such a beautiful & historic building. easy does it. take your time... that's all i was gettng at. totally in favor of this project.

i want to play too! i really hate tunnels under these things, and that intersection at elm is not the best urban situation, but i dont know a good way to access the western side and the pseudo interstate nonsense that we have over there... parking would need to be under a lot of this as well since i took down a lot of the ugly garages on this side of town.

Newport, KY: Ovation
jack.c.amos replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & Constructioni totally agree... UGLY and weird. i was only addressing the most blatant of insults with those roofs! there's a lot of things i would do different ...

Newport, KY: Ovation
jack.c.amos replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & Constructioni don't even care for this too much, but at least its not so gimmick-y with the monopoly house roofs. the building is very horizontal, keep the roofline horizontal. If they want to do something fun with the roof - why not do something that creates outdoor space and rooftop decks for residents...

Middletown: Hollywoodland
my favorite part is the titleblock for the renderings that add an extra "o" to the already ridiculous name of Hollywoodland to now become HOLLYWOOODLAND. WOOO!

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
jack.c.amos replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & Constructionuuuuughhhh.... its a parking garage... howsabout be honest and not wrap it it with low-quality imitation. VERY rarely does this faux historic stuff work - even when its on a function that it could potentially/conceivably/maybe be applied to with some sense of historic correctness. there are so many ways this could be better, green wall system, LED panel displays, expanded wire screens, wire mesh, kinetic wall... I was recently in st. Louis/Clayton and there was a parking garage with a kinetic installation running the full block. the kids & I would watch it for 20 minutes each day. (the attached image is not it and not the correct scale)

Cincinnati/NKY International Airport
missed the talk about Ethans Glen... I had a lot of friends who lived there before the buyouts for the sound levels. most moved to new neighborhoods in hebron & burlington that were being built at the time - Kingsgate, Treetops, Thornwild. it was a lot of neighbors rearranging themselves. CVG also bought out houses all along Conrad Lane, and about 3 miles out along 338 west of burlington at the same time. A lot of the land towards burlington is now Idelwild-England park and the jail/justice center. as you drive out past that on 338 there are still signs of former driveways and evergreen trees that were once next to peoples houses that are now out of place 'in the wild'. it is crazy how much land is owned by CVG - you can see it clearly on the Boone County GIS site when you turn on the parcel owner layer. this is a ROUGH outline of where they bought people out. not everyone sold, but there used to be a lot more houses.

Covington, KY: Central Riverfront (IRS) Development
agree with the earlier comments - no need for an observatory - just go up to devou for an overlook of the city... infill the grid back to some semblance of an urban grid and bring back a neighborhood.

Newport, KY: Ovation
jack.c.amos replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & Constructionthe Ovation/Newport street modifications always remind me of a brittle star... random swoopy legs inching across the grid. unfortunate.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Adams Landing
jack.c.amos replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & Constructiononly had a half hour lunch break... but... bring the building to the sidewalk, eliminate the berm up to the podium, conceal parking with building frontage, provide grand staircase connection of some sort to river and parks, break up massing along street, break up massing in height with multiple levels allowing opportunities for outdoor space/green space on rooftops and allow for views back to city, hide garage entrance, plant street trees.... lots could be done and i didnt even get into the generic architecture cladding - kept their brick and eifs.

Covington, KY: Development and News
...or cover/enclose all the parking & have a nice outdoor terrace off the new addition while maintaining the street wall at the sidewalk.

jack.c.amos replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionThey say this development "will fill in the missing tooth"... this building did a pretty good job of that.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Heritage Bank Center
first post! - I have been checking this website daily since the days of CINCINNATI UPRISE. as long as money is unlimited... I would love to see a new convention center built at longworth hall - using the existing building as a hotel and have an atrium between it and the new convention center. would need to regrade and build over the railroad line, and then the new arena could be on 3rd Street at the current UPS facility - creating a new arena district similar to columbus. not too far from the core - especially if we could cap some of the new 75 whenever that happens. this could, jumpstart development west of 75 and expand/reclaim some of downtown's footprint. Plum street could then be reconnected & two new blocks in the city core could be redeveloped. this is just a weekend project for Dubai.
