  1. As someone who just reached out to CPL over something unrelated (and they usually always come through) I'd send an email their way. I landed on it once! The pilot was extra dramatic about it too, like nooooobody ever lands here, should be a treat lol
  2. The grift that keeps on giving, Mike White. Cleveland SceneThe Sweetest DealMayor White's friends made millions on the I-X Center. Cleveland got screwed for years to come.
  3. IX Center moving to Atlanta
  4. Thanks for posting - the current iteration is 1000% better than the green and grey that we almost got. Its years at this point, but I wonder if the tailwinds were ever great enough to build the original design before Landmarks got in the way with their required setbacks.
  5. Data Centers don't employ 200 people.
  6. Muni Boundaries in this area are pretty funky
  7. If I worked in the hospitals or at Case, I'd fully consider it. It's like a 5/15 minute bike/walk to one of the hottest areas in the state. This part of EC has some interesting architecture sprinkled throughout the streets too. There are plenty of areas around UC that Knez is marketing that folks wouldn't have thought about ten years ago.
  8. Just FYI, they ripped out the rails around the construction site- they're wiped out from Lorain Carnegie Bridge on.
  9. You say this any time the lake comes up. Go to Buffalo - they have tons of outdoor activites in spite of the cold and wind (two full size ice rinks open to the elements!, skating on the Old Erie Canal!), Detroit is bustling in winter, Chicago has people out and about, and other cities do just fine by embracing their climate. Yeah! We live on a windy great lake, but there's no reason we can't embrace it. There are a handful of days where the wind rolling up E9 is enough to make you duck into a building but that's what warming huts and businesses are for, aka potential development down there.
  10. Eh, honestly it's a great compromise. You really cant exist in NEO without a car and that isn't changing anytime soon. This is where I laugh though - a handful of comments on social media revolve around: who will think of the commuters, taking street parking for bike lanes, and nobody uses the bike lanes, among the typical peanut gallery (15 minute city conspiracies, anyone?). All of these comments are such an old trope. I'd love to tell folks that the city is making things better for people who live in the city (and visitors that aren't in a car), but it's not worth it with so many people (or bots, whatever).
  11. Another article this time with City Council and Downtown Cleveland Cleveland SceneCleveland City Council, Downtown Cleveland Inc. 12. If the democrats in Columbus want it, that most likely means the R's will vote against it out of spite. In a state where R's have a majority of everything, I wouldnt read much, if any, into the dem funding proposals.
  13. Phew this is scathing. 14. To borrow a phrase from PGH, what a jagoff. The hubris is astounding. Sounds like a high school breakup letter lol.
  15. Pedal for Prizes is Saturday in Old Brooklyn, free and a cool way to see the neighborhood. Best part? It'll be over long before the UO meetup is supposed to kickoff.
  16. If anyone's looking for something to do Saturday (before the UO meetup!), it's Pedal for Prizes in Old Brooklyn. It's FREE! and a great way to see the neighborhood. (send a DM if you do make it, I'll be helping out)
  17. I'll believe it when I see it. I wonder if the carrot/stick in this scenario is covering demo costs of the present stadium and some lakefront development?
  18. You can see it in the property listing, but the rear of the property has a bridge that goes to ODOT owned land across the way, I'm sure they could leverage that for parking if needed. Also this map is probably a biohazard, but it'd be cool in someone's garage!
  19. Looks like my plans might've changed and I'll be able to make it. I'll plan on seeing folks on Saturday, Goldhorn is a great venue! There's parking behind off E58th, and out front on 55th. If you're planning on biking over I've never had an issue bringing mine inside and leaning it against something - if you do want to lock it to something, there's a fence out front and seating (https://maps.app.goo.gl/CBRE1y4ScTFwkPqN8).

How often do you see cyclists blatantly running red lights that they're a danger to everyone around them? I think the problem is overstated, especially with the amount of drivers who speed, run red lights, turn on red into pedestrians and so on. I wish you could see some of the cctv video of people getting hit to see just how small a problem unpredicable bikes and pedestrians are in the scheme of things. How fast can a car get from 0-60mph? 3 seconds? 5 seconds? As a cyclist, responsibly jumping a red light at a cleared intersection allows me to get up to speed by the time cars are coming at me going 45 MPH on a 25 MPH road. You're putting too much blame on cyclists and not enough on terrible street design - good cycling infrastructure allows people on bikes to be (partially) separated from idiots in cars but if the roads still allow you to go 50 in a 25 that's the actual problem.
  21. Lee is supposed to get improved once it crosses into Cleveland, too. Cleveland Moves is showing a mixed use path which should be nice! Honestly biking the entirety of Lee, its least safe in Shaker and somehow safer once you cross into Cleveland, so this'll be a really nice improvement. On a related note, Bike Cleveland just released their 2024 Crash Report, things didn't get better: https://www.bikecleveland.org/bike-cle/news/crash/2025/05/

Flipside, cyclists are some of the most defensive people on the roads. When you're dealing with 2000lb+ cars and drivers with a god complex sometimes survival looks reckless to a non-cyclist. Bike Cleveland just released their 2024 crash report, I'd recommend checking it out - and as someone who's looked over crash reports and videos of these crashes, very rarely is it the non-drivers fault when someone gets hit. As an added bonus, here's my daily commute:

  24. It's extremely rural on the Canadian side with port cities scattered here and there. It's been over* (wtf!) ten years since I've biked it, but I just remember their shoreline being a lot less hardened and more natural. Here's a crappy ipod pic from that trip in this general area: Don't Give Up The Lake: Day 4 mi...Day 4 middayHi again going to keep this quick. Currently in Blenheim and on my way to Port Stanley- about half way there. Saw some awesome sights today... And a video from down by the turbines: https://photos.app.goo.gl/gurPC6JSQRrecbty6
