  1. FYI, not necessarily port 'news' per se, but the USS Indianapolis will be visiting the port in the next couple days (they're currently a day behind): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Indianapolis_(LCS-17) It was just commissioned this weekend and is making it's way to Jacksonville via the Great Lakes.
  2. Public riverfront/lake access and/or a contiguous walkway/easements should be a planning requirement for any new builds in these areas
  3. I feel like the view is already impressive coming in from the West on 2, if it's built on the river this would only add to that sense of density. I'd bet this would also give a spark to the 'Thunderbird' development as well. My preference (and I feel most UO folks feel this way) is for something on PS, but as long as there's some near term action with the surface parking (courts tower, etc.), then it could be a pretty positive outcome - I wonder if the county would still build if the economy takes an inevitable dive?

  5. As long as I get a lottery style big check out of it, I'm game lol
  6. Just did a quick google search on the building, looks like parking was more profitable than lofts (in 2014): https://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20140115/FREE/140119860/lincoln-building-would-add-apartments-more-parking-under-owners-plans . I had zero clue that it was anything other than parking/first floor retail.

What's going on with the Galleria? Also if that gets ya down here's a TC shot from the Gateway deck.
  12. Separate streets/areas, but the Chase branch on Euclid/bluebridge building has signage up (maybe it's been up, I just noticed it). And the first floor (former retail) of the parking deck across from the Westin is pretty much all cleared out- is this going to be retail again?

  14. At least Fox added this caveat:
  15. I'm a relative newby to Cle, and never saw the terminal functional, I'm an idiot and never even thought of that lol. If anything, I could see them using busses or something, it just seems so isolated where it is (even with a tunnel).
  16. Things I learned today ^
  17. I respectfully ask to have this thread locked lol
  18. Fair points @jtadams, I was kind of embarrassed that we had to take a shuttle bus and had to explain the funding issues with the transit system. Thankfully, he's a transit fan and understood the problems and also enjoyed getting some Cleveland bus experience in (he's from PGH, who has their own funding issues). I did see a few confused folks with their bags either getting on or off the bus at TC, and yeah, didn't leave the greatest feeling deep down knowing that was a first impression. I really hope that the new GM can get some things done before naturally being jaded by the bureaucracy that they're likely to face. Between new ideas, additional funding, and a larger downtown population, I'd like to think we will be going in your idealized direction in the very near future. Who knows though, just like an old car, if you defer routine maintenance, you're going to run into a heck of a lot more issues down the road, and I think that's where we are currently.
  19. My buddy had never been on the rapid before, so we took the line from TC-airport this weekend (there was a bus detour from TC-117, unfortunately so he wasn't able to get the city view coming in from the west or some of the murals going west). It's so obvious to us, but it's such an amazing selling point - how many mid-sized cities can you roll your luggage onto a train downtown, and roll it off at the airport (in about ~30 mins/$2.50 fare), it's truly impressive and an asset that needs to be broadcasted far and wide.
  20. It's not so much of where I would of put it but how I would have done it. It seems like it wasn't part of the initial plans (same with the current progress with the RR crossing). The 'detour' if you could call it that, was barely marked, wasn't safe, and was an afterthought. All I'm saying is it was a terrible (and dangerous) oversight on their part. More signage, sharrows (as dumb as those are), lighting, etc., could've helped a lot. BTW this phase still isn't completely open.
