Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
Just because a greenspace doesn't exist, doesn't mean a developer and or the city can't create some. I'd venture to guess a lot of the now intimate areas in a lot of our comparable cities were surface lots and useless areas previously. We need more (well designed) pocket parks, and recreation areas (basketball, tennis, etc.) close to/in the city core. And for the time being if that means a private courtyard, so be it, but community greenspace/gathering areas should be part of the tax abatement requirements in some way.

Cleveland: Downtown: John Hartness Brown Buildings / Euclid Grand
I just searched 'timeline' on the forum and didn't come up with anything [admittedly half-assed searching on my part], when do they expect this project to be complete?

Cleveland: Downtown: Cleveland Athletic Club Redevelopment
One of the first times I came to town, I remember the 'unique, very distinct smell' of the entryway from the street. This was probably in 2015, so it was more of a urinal at that point in time haha, look how far it's come!

Cleveland: Rocket Arena (Gund Arena)
Lol that was the lamest 'sneak peek' ever, woo clickbait Fox8. Lets show them renderings, and the interior that the public already sees daily and boom we got ourselves something people will click on!

Electric Scooter Sharing
After visiting a handful of larger cities this past year it's a shame how far behind it seems this administration is (an argument for another forum haha). Scooters are everywhere in other cities and with that they make for an amazing option for connections between busses and between neighborhoods. I hope that this pilot program is reviewed quickly, but as with everything in the Jackson admin, it probably will be a year before we hear anything, why not look at other cities and/or build infrastructure that makes these things safer? Not everyone in Cleveland lives in the hot areas, and with that, if Bird or Lime are willing to put scooters all over the city, let them do it. Sidenote, I just got back from DC, and not only do they have scooters, but also rideshare e-bikes, and aside from a lost tourist it seems like they weren't a burden at all.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Lumen
No matter how many times this is pointed out, it's just nuts how it'll really transform that part of town. I moved here about 3-4 years ago, looks like I picked the right time! lol Good on the Playhouse Square Foundation for moving this project forward super, super fast.

Perhaps I'm showing my naivety on this, but is it normal to put glass on this early?

The BEER Thread
So we recently had the NEO GIS Symposium up here and for that, I created a few maps dealing with beer (historic and current Cleveland breweries). Figured yinz may enjoy looking over historic breweries (link) and I'm currently working on updating/making the current breweries application nicer (but it's still neat to see the recent explosion of beer in town since like 2016, link). I'd appreciate any feedback!

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I'll bring this GIF back out, please let this happen!! I wonder if the ASG's, Draft, etc., will push development into higher gear/get things moving in City Hall...I have my doubts.

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
Sam Allard thinks his snark is so clever and e d g y, it's frankly unreadable. Blah, I hope Cleveland's alt newspaper scene graduates from him soon.

The new smartboards are going in at E9 and Prospect, is there a map of all the locations they're going to put them in?- Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Seeing as a large complaint has to deal with traffic flow, parking (*sigh*) and getting Ubers out of the Flats, I'd say a dedicated late night loop between TC and the Muni lots isn't a terrible idea to start and build from there. And frankly, public transit is always going to be slower than a rideshare until it's prioritized here, and (a conversation for another forum) stigmas with the bus are thrown out the window.- Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
If parking is a concern for potential downtown residents, they shouldn't live downtown.- Cleveland: Flats East Bank
I have Pittsburgh's T in mind when stating this, but since the trains end earlier than the bars close, it seems the Wolstein's and the other bar owners could convince (IE pay) RTA to run down there later, and/or for free. The T (Pittsburgh's Train), runs from the football stadium through downtown for free in part because the Steelers and Alco Parking (they own the lots on the North Shore) contribute/pay Pittsburgh's Port Authority to do this.- Cleveland: Historic Photos
- Cleveland Monsters Discussion
As a transplant to Cleveland, is it bad that I didn't even realize the Monsters were an AHL team (letalone that they were affiliated with Columbus)? I grew up in WNY and it was quite apparent that the Amerks were AHL (and outside of a brief period) have been obviously aligned with the Sabres. Rochester plays a game or two in Buffalo, and likewise, the Sabres will play preseason (and I think they played at least one regular season game) in Rochester. It probably has something to do with ownership, but I think it'd be a great outreach opportunity. Also, why are they charging cavs prices for concessions? One thing I appreciated about living in Erie and going to OHL games was OHL prices, likewise, it should be reflected with AHL games too. BUT- that aside, I'm hoping to make it to a game this series, any opportunity to root against a Toronto team warms my Sabres fan heart lol- Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
Some hot takes from the comments on the site and the facebook post: Downtown needs more parking The Beacon RUINED downtown businesses and was a major eff up This project benefits n o b o d y etc., etc. As they say, self care is not reading the comments lol- Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
As usual, Sam Allard comes in with a negative hot take: I get that we need reporters digging around (and frankly, the economics of print don't really allow for that pipe dream) but his shtick sure gets old.- Cleveland: Downtown: Standard Building
Are the street level spaces still up for lease? I wonder what they're holding out for tenant wise if so. I think it's been mentioned here before but it'd make for a nice space for a high end convenient store or something that would fit the resident mix well (recognizing that Constantinos is only a few blocks and some away) - Cleveland: Random Development and News
