  1. Also a month late, and it's been up for a while but Nautica needs to tear it down...as they have their parking lots for sale for $17.5M: https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/Main-Avenue-Sycamore-St-Cleveland-OH/18769628/. Granted it is one of the most primo pieces of land in the city...
  2. Also the jersey barriers are useless, I don't understand why the admin has entertained the Jackson admin's idea that it's preventing some crazy terrorist plot. Cars drive on PS a lot with the barriers up. If the reasoning for keeping the barriers up is 'safety' maybe we should put barriers up in other places where pedestrians are (bike lanes, busy sidewalks, etc. etc.). Maybe that makes too much sense, though.
  3. I know they're aiming for something Fat Heads-esque but that building and experience is so sterile (and I'm not talking about the brewworks lol). I know they aren't trying to appeal to 30-something hipsters with this new potential outpost but man, it'd take some cool out of the brand to just be a stop off the interstate. Money is money though and it's worked for Fat Heads and Erie Brewing. Also re: opp cor site, idk if that'd fit the vibe they're shooting for but good point w potential for uc crowd, accessible to highway too for out of towners, kind of.
  4. A month and some late but teeeechnically NOACA has an impervious surface billing element. It obviously isn't enough of a disincentive, though.
  5. Lol saw a sink getting dolly-ed out on Friday. Huzzah, "demo work" hah.
  6. Appreciate it.
  7. It's probably more pain than it's worth with security and whatnot but the basement arcade area was nice - barber, jeweler, little convenience store and other storefronts and you could peek into the grand lobby (it was locked w/gates). Kind of a shame they shut off all building access once covid hit.
  8. This is also a big part of the plan. There really isn't that much public parking in the plan. Most of what you see is private marina parking as @Ethan pointed out. There are four yacht clubs in this stretch vs Edgewater's one, measuring out current parking there's <5 acres of public parking right now if you take into account the 2.5ish for boat parking you can bump that up. They're going to maintain the current pedestrian bridge coming across from the newly acquired Gordon Park and envision that as overflow parking as needed. Don't mean to be a metroparks stan, but after going to their public house on this and walking w/some of the planners a lot of the criticism here has already been addressed.
  9. Except it's happening. The metroparks have a ton of money (theirs, grants, ODOT and Federal DOT) behind this. A lot of the dredging from the river will go into this too, since the airport cell has a limited lifespan at this point. A major part of cheers is the hardening of the shoreline to prevent erosion of I90. Moving it completely went out the window when costs and traffic disruptions came in - billions vs millions.
  10. A lot of this is balancing existing parking for mostly fishing trailers at E72 (you can't eliminate that parking) and offsetting with other parking. Metroparks envision this as an Edgewater type draw and reminder that Edgewater has over 10ac of parking (not including when they expand it to the lawn), and they still need to shut the area down in summer. Not saying it'll be the same with beach and all that but imagine how much parking is contained in like South Chagrin Reservation. This'll be a big draw for folks who don't want to drive to get their nature fix.
  11. The irony when it's car ads on the outside of them. That looks like the branding for the line which isn't great but at least it's not a KIA ad...
  12. I was always taught to to to the departures gate...might be a PITA to navigate to it but usually it works out, especially when a bunch of planes show up at the same time. Also annoying - the cars camping on the highway waiting to pick ppl up, just use the cellphone lot it's not that big of a hinderance to go over there. Alternatively Buffalo would provide free parking (not sure if they still do) for <1HR in their long term lots. I don't think we have the parking capacity to do it but also a thought.
  13. With Michelle Jarboe leaving Cleveland Mag and Crains might have to duke it out over @KJP
  14. There's a pretty healthy cliffs thread in Ohio Business:
  15. Cleveland-Cliffs Comments on Transformative Global Industry Consolidation and Updates Investors on Capital Allocation Priorities December 18, 2023 09:25 AM Eastern Standard Time CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. (NYSE: CLF) (“Cliffs” or “the Company”) issued the following statement regarding the announced proposed acquisition of U.S. Steel by Nippon Steel. Lourenco Goncalves, Chairman, President of CEO of Cleveland-Cliffs, said, “We identified U.S. Steel as an extremely undervalued company with significant synergy potential when combined with Cleveland-Cliffs, creating a union-friendly American champion among the top-10 steelmakers in the world. Even though U.S. Steel’s Board of Directors and CEO chose to go a different direction with a foreign buyer, their move validates our view that our sector remains undervalued by the broader market, and that a multiple re-rating for Cleveland-Cliffs is long overdue. We congratulate U.S. Steel on their announcement and wish them luck in closing the transaction with Nippon Steel.” Lourenco Goncalves continued: “As we have been guiding, we have already reached our net debt target of $3.0 billion this quarter, with no borrowings on our ABL as of today. Given that our CLF shares are still significantly undervalued, we will now re-focus our capital allocation priorities towards more aggressive share buybacks under our existing share repurchase authorization.”
  16. Freeeeeeeeee parking always blinds people. That said, I don't miss working in Seven Hills/Rockside one bit.
  17. I feel like the times I've had 92.3 on I've heard their stuff. But dude, tables outside in summer (anti-indoor golf, I get it) would be awesome. That stretch is lacking so bad.
  18. Reminds me of Pittsburgh's, kind of... On a browns note, Haslam is under investigation with the feds again.
  19. I started this thread (and didn't keep up with it...) but no reason it can't be changed from Historic to just maps:
  20. Cuyahoga County rams through 40-year tax raise to fund jail in split vote In a 6-5 vote, council approved extending a .25% sales tax for an additional 40 years – a move that will keep Cuyahoga County’s sales tax rate at 8%, the highest in the state, without voter approval. The tax extension is expected to generate about $52 million in annual collections to pay for a new jail and possibly a new or renovated courts complex – projects that have been estimated to cost the public $750 million and $1 billion, respectively. https://www.cleveland.com/news/2023/12/cuyahoga-county-rams-through-40-year-tax-raise-to-fund-jail-in-split-vote.html

    1950s mentality with a twist!
  24. And they stink! lol my friends and I have a little more, uh, colorful name for them. Urban Forestry is a shell of a department, their backlog of stuff is embarrassing. I want to say Jenny Spencer had a post last year about median cleanups and how the city visits medians like once a year and how as a result of that they don't design them w/plantings as much anymore.
