  1. Not sure how that works with a parking garage that's been closed and falling apart for years. I've heard horror stories about that garage, I don't think we're losing much. I'd be much more upset about losing the Herold/Goldfish Outdoors block of buildings.
  2. Is it an art gallery or a team store? lol
  3. Election Deniers serve in Congress and our Statehouse, you're defending these people as if J6 and their ideology was a silly idea.

Was at a talk with the owner of Happy Dog and Beachland - they mentioned the changing consumption habits of folks (less bar sales in favor of vaping, etc.), I hope that venues can figure a way to take advantage. MJ NA drinks? "Corking fee" to smoke? It'll be interesting.
  5. BLM Protestors weren't looking to take hostages (congress) or were chanting hang Mike Pence, and certainly didn't have a guillotine out front of the capitol. Was Trump or Congress ever forced to take their gas masks with them and huddle in their safe area at any point during Trump's term? Like, what are you even saying. Second, I was at the Women's March in 2017 and it was extremely peaceful but it helped people organize and make action plans (and spurred GOTV actions, nobody stormed the capitol, nobody killed anyone, etc etc). How soon you forget in your attempt to put lipstick on a pig. Back to abortion, it's not up to you or your party to defy the will of the people, it passed and did quite dramatically. Republican lawmakers love a dysfunctional government (it makes them look good and gives them reason to further dismantle "the system"), but someone from an unconstitutionally gerrymandered district has no place forcing their convictions on the majority of the state.
  6. I kind of had a snarky tweet about this that Kerry M. was on, he said the eventual plan is to phase out the meters w/pay stations. Which got me to thinking - some parking lots have their pay stations facing the sidewalk (and are also using ParkMobile), and although there are signs I could see an instance where someone from the public sees this pays there and gets a ticket from the city. Small possibility, but one nonetheless. Idk how you'd change the law (and it really isn't that big of a deal, all things considered), but private lots should have their pay stations contained within the lots, not fronting the public ROW.
  7. It's more so directed routes that take cyclists off of main streets. It's not a multiuse trail or anything. You'll see some of this signage around town if you're looking close enough- I want to say there's some around Axis on Ansel, they're working on these safer routes/alternatives throughout the city.
  8. Bike Cleveland is working to establish some greenway routes for the terminus of the Midway. That said, @noname has a point - that area of 55/Superior is a pretty crappy end. There's really no immediate saving of that section of Superior (where the road narrows and turns into a speedway), and 55 has a ton of Bike/Ped-Car incidents compared to other streets. Bike Cleveland also proposed some infrastructure on that road but not sure the city took it. I think there's a better chance of the greenway (to continue the West-East route towards UC) getting traction over protected bike lanes on Superior or 55th. 55 is a true N-S route, it's a shame that it's only seen from a car centric perspective - it's wide enough to have bike lanes (I'll take it as a route into SV from StC-Sup) and also ties into the "bike path" on the OC and of course, in the future, CHEERS. The east side doesn't have many true streets that go from the lake to SV and the like, 55/79 should both be beefed up with more bike infra. Which funny, 79 just got repaved from Quincy-ish to Woodland and the city dropped some sharrows on it, so that shows priorities.
  9. As someone who's biked to beachland/grog from OB, it'd be nice to have a lil venue in here or something for music. I know we wouldn't be getting those type of acts/venue but having something small to coexist with like Little Rose would be great.
  10. Midway meeting postponed until 11/14 6PM at RED Space.
  11. Yo @surfohio, @ASP1984, @Ethan and others I might've missed- it's postponed until 11/14.

  13. Going to try my best to make it down. Hope to see some fellow UO'ers there tonight!
  14. I'm going to try and make it over, anyone else going?
  15. Went in there ironically once, big mistake. I did have the chance to ask the bartender how often he heard Cheeseburger in Paradise each shift and he rolled his eyes lol Someone posted on reddit (yeah, great source) but they mentioned he owns the land, not the business...also, not my scene, but I don't think FWD and Barley are 1:1, similar clientele but different things.
  16. idk where to have this discussion, but I get irked when you see permanent valet stands when the business doesn't open until x time. Do valet stands pay the city the 'full value' of the spaces they're taking up? Euclid is a different animal since these places have cutouts specific to their businesses (and hotels) but then you see permanent ones like outside of Mortons where they bagged the meters (and the business isn't even open).
  17. Walked around the Garfield/Bridgeview site yesterday. Posted in the newly revived GH/BC thread, but it's amazing how huge the site actually is. I walked 2 miles and that was mostly the perimeter. I said it in that thread, but the county is doing the city a real solid in purchasing this site, it'd be interesting to speak with the folks that got eminent domained to see their opinion on the site laying fallow for 15+ years.
  18. Bringing this thread back to life, but took a walk around this site yesterday trying to get a feel for it and it's huge! Wild looking through the thread/how much GH pushed this project and what a failure it became (especially with the eminent domain cases). Going to xpost in the Justice Center thread, but sheesh, the county is really doing GH a solid by purchasing this site, didn't realize how much history there was to it. Last edit, the only remaining residential building from the S. Granger road subdivision was one of the holdouts - North Coast Community Homes - long story short, they got paid $1.2M for their group home from the development in 2007. Not a bad get right before the markets crashed. 2006: 2022: The entire site in 2006:

  20. Yeah, was chilling with @mermaidlindsay and explained that one of the HL's was like at least 15-30 minutes behind (or ahead?!) for that to happen. Not great.
  21. Was down in Playhouse Square on Wednesday, got the pleasure of seeing some bunched up Healthlines. For a second they were doing a standoff before the one took off.
  22. While stopped at the light this morning, this store is a LOT bigger than I was imagining:
