  1. lol I hit a deer in my tiny Honda Fit over J4 weekend and it's still in the shop back home. Small area (<20k) but when I spoke to the one collision guy he said 6-8 weeks and if anyone says otherwise they're full of it. I'm sure it's different in the cities but still they're working with barebones staff (a lot of the shops he said were just the owner working) and they were being selective about what cars they were taking. Also posted it somewhere else, but I bought my car in 2018 (used off of lease for $12.5k) and it was appraised post crash for $12k. The car market is insane right now. Long story short, don't hit a deer.

A few weeks late to chime in, but thanks for this. People in cars can't fathom why cyclists (responsibly) jump lights and do things like they do - it's all in the name of safety. "If you want to be in traffic, behave like traffic" is easy to say when you're in a few thousand points of metal that goes 0-30 in a second or two.
  3. I really appreciate your insights into things and the inside baseball of CPD. I'll read the daily items of interest and see the reports that are public but I know that only tells you so much. I know I'm guilty of playing armchair this or that (and to some extent we all are) and it's easy to pass judgement after the fact so hearing rational takes and real life examples really helps put it in perspective. People like councilman Pol really add nothing to things when compared to what you've provided in this thread time and time again. Really hope you're able to make it to one of the meetups one of these days.
  4. You always say things to hear yourself talk. There's literally 1-3 zone cars on public square and the surrounding area every day. Lol she never sees cop cars at the justice center? There's sheriff cars at the county building throughout the day. Good riddance. Go make UrbanAvon or something.
  5. Ope suspect got out of the car at x address, he's still there, we're hovering until you arrive vs endanger a city w highway patrol driving streets they aren't familiar with. Curious, what's your stance on surrounding municipalities chasing cars into Cleveland and through the city's streets? Justified? Ends worth the means if innocent people are killed? I live here, bike here, walk here, I'm not looking to get killed as an innocent bystander that happens to be caught up in a police chase.
  6. A chase started, at what point do you pass the chase off to the helicopter. The cars added NOTHING to this. Hell, at the end the cops on the ground were useless without infrared.
  7. They had a helicopter in the air tracking his movements the entire time and the driver was probably clueless to that. What did OSHP cars add to this? Dude was driving normal until he started getting chased. I bike E79 and most of the spots that are shown in the video quite regularly - I've seen bday parties in the yards and porches that OSHP drove across (and still didn't apprehend the suspect) - OH and there's a school RIGHT THERE near the Ohio Wire factory. If a child got killed during this chase you'd have a different opinion.
  8. That's embarrassing to be honest- looks like the keystone cops. The video begins on E. 79 near Union (the first bump in the video they go over is actually the slavic village bike path), and after traversing through Slavic Village to 77 he ends up on 90 into downtown and after nearly killing someone with a streetsign they got their dude. They had a helicopter in the air the entire time, not sure what the OSHP cars did other than engage in a chase that CPD wouldn't have okay'ed.
  9. Anything you'd care to publically share? Also it seems like if they can't find $3M now, it would result in bigger issues down the road...
  10. Game for wherever, thanks again for getting the ball rolling.
  11. If I had to guess, their post wasn't trying to bar outsiders from downtown, it's to prevent these visitors and people from the suburbs the ability to drive 30-40+MPH on downtown streets or the ability to do donuts on streets that are too wide 97% of the time. Suburbanites already have 8 lane highways to get into town, why do we need to acquiesce to them further? Our BRT can't navigate downtown without dealing with cars in the bus lane, our "bike lanes" end when you get into downtown, the traffic volume is never high enough to fill up Superior/St. Clair/even E.9 almost all days and so on. Look at Pittsburgh - downtown isn't convenient, parking is very expensive (comparatively), and residential volume is lower than ours and yet they're thriving. Attendance is up at Guardians games, Cavs games are always busy and Browns take over downtown on gameday, I think "customers" are still going to come here even if it takes an extra 10-20 minutes to drive into the city center. The casino garage continuously blocks traffic off of Huron and cars pulling out from the garage do crap like below on the regular, personally I think downtown streets should be safe for people walking/biking/scooting not for someone who's rushing to get back to Geauga County.
  12. Midtown Collab Ctr coming along: Also my camera didn't come up quick enough (I was biking too fast, obviously...) but Dunham Tavern lost a lot of trees in the storm - @mack34 had some good ones on twitter the other day.
  13. Lol the only pic I have from the evening @Boomerang_Brian live on stage:
  14. The 53 was running as a coach bus yesterday, not great!
  15. It's not our fault that they're terrible at marketing and have made little if any effort to promote themselves/their space. We won't even be able to tell if it's open or not based on their street presence.
  16. There's always BrewDog in the flats (I haven't been so I'm not sure on things but I can't imagine it'll be too nuts). Also, it's a bit more packed if the weather is crap but I don't think we've meandered over to Terrestrial yet - granted they don't really have big communal tables (think more of the Masthead meetup vibe). Noble Beast is small for something like this, but I bet we could take over the back "patio" - idk when I go in it's rarely too packed out there. Hansa is more traditional but that's another option (could probably ask a server to order at the bar). Goldhorn definitely fits for what we're looking for but totally understand if that's too much of a haul. I know I've named six! breweries with no help to make the decision.
  17. Just checked their site - Baltimore, Washington, Chicago
  18. Had to run to Joy Machines on lunch break and decided to take a peek:
  19. You'd think with a bar you could have some outside seating. Idk if they're local or not but it's about to get reaaaal desolate in the wintertime - the only way you'll know something is in there is because it'll (hopefully) be shoveled. Some inside shots: https://goo.gl/maps/LVKDeMqm4F3YnVM49
  20. Yeah lol I walked by one day and the one dude was hanging outside the door with a golf club, yeah, sure.

  22. I let @mermaidlindsayknow and we were kicking it around. Also one of the organizers/the one tweet is Jenna w BikeCle. Should be a fun time... And a full bus bike rack! Lol Throwing @ASP1984in this Convo too.
  23. They have zero street presence. Despite the space being filled out like it is you would have no idea from just walking by. They need to do something to activate out front.
