  1. Hey y'all sorry, not news, but just curious if there's any idk 15-20 or so mile loops around the convention center that y'all might recommend. One of the big GIS Conferences is down there this year and I'm planning on bringing my bike(s) so while it'd be cool to get some gravel riding in around there (which I know that's pie in the sky thinking) I could always just opt for the road bike haha. Thanks for any help!
  2. For whatever reason I'm having issues uploading my photos to Flickr - I got a few in there last week - there's markings on the one stairwell nearest to you of where they're going to (presumably) cut through for this (like it is across the way). The project area is boarded up up top (there's the one rendering we've all seen on that part) and down below within the stadium. Maybe one of these days Flickr will cooperate. Also, sorry if this is confusing, photos are worth...yayaya.
  3. They've had the projector box/room up since the Lumen was built and this color/projection was part of the original designs - not sure if it's ever been on before this?
  4. Sorry, all I can do is a $50k+ raise. In reality though, how much of this is deferred maintenance from the previous (and still existing) RTA regime?
  5. Dawg, don't take Noble Beast from me, comeonnnnnnnnnnnnn.
  6. We're obsessed with tearing everything down in this city. But hey, cheap parking! Woo.
  7. I've said it upthread, but there is like little to no water movement in this neck of the harbor. It's not difficult to bike out to where the beach is supposed to go and you might have second thoughts.
  8. Grumpy hot take alert: The city and the county should focus on spreading money and budgetary scraps to people who need it. Let all the out of county folks who trash the city on the regular then come here for sporting events (and enjoy themselves!!) pay for the new palace. Put it in a corn field in Ashtabula County for all I care.
  9. Wow, our *current* state leadership is embarrassing:
  10. Stadium/jail/courts/condos combo incoming. Oh, and outlets, those too.
  11. uhhh, I want that Seat Belt Fastened? sign...
  12. Birdsong got their $56k raise last night, must be nice.
  13. This. You can say whatever you want on the internet but at least on UO there's some understanding that you need to add proof to your claims - it's not twitter, reddit, facebook, whatever.
  14. Worth listening in the background, up down vote on the site is going to be 8/1:
  15. Thanks Ken, could use some cropping but I'll take it! haha
  16. Part of living in a society is paying taxes for your municipality's school district. Whether or not your kids go to those schools is a non-issue. You live there, you gain property value because of it, you pay the taxes. Instead of "public good" policies our public school hating legislature is going in the opposite direction. Good for us.
  17. 👀 👀 might need to take a detour biking home today. What a bummer though, this is a neat neck of this area and the building added to almost a cavernous feel or idk whimsical (in an industrial sense) w/the rr tracks and warehouses and everything. I know it's no greenfield but also I don't necessarily take GE's word for it with pollution. As more people migrate into Midtown (Asiatown in this case) I'm sure some developer will regret this massive complex being torn down.
  18. Anyone who wants to use this for renderings go for it:
  19. Hey! I eat lunch there like once a month. It's actually pretty nice to go into big buildings for a mixup - Key's lobby is pretty nice to relax in too. Playing into the shack debate: if the tower were built on that lot PS would be way too closed in and Tower City would've been boxed out unnecessarily. Just my musings, don't shoot the messenger! Speaking of lunch, I'll try and wander up to the library view later to get some snaps.
  20. Not 1:1, but this idea also reminds me of Trillium Brewing in Boston (narrow little area w/a bunch of brick):
  21. They're nowhere near finished. Like I say they're adding individual elements so I think there's still some time to reserve judgement. Yes, they could definitely be individualized more, but they aren't as bad as some folks made them out to be. I'll be curious what they do with Allen because idk, it's definitely simpler than the other ones.
  22. I think everyone's overreacting. They're starting to add individual elements to each sign and they actually look pretty nice. Wouldn't hurt to reserve judgement until the project is complete and at this point I'd say Connor is the closest to it right now.
  23. Brutus, respectfully, I don't think people would have taken these measures if it wasn't for the legislature not representing the will of the voter thanks to gerrymandering. We have a R supermajority legislature despite the majority of the population having the opposite views.
