Cars & Vehicles Discussion (History, etc)
Appreciate it! I was somewhere around 60-65 if I had to guess. Thankfully about 10 miles from my hometown, but still not ideal haha. The crumple zone makes it look worse than it was- thankfully no airbags or anything like that. According to the bodyshop tons of ppl are hitting deer this year, the wait to get my car back is 6-8 weeks hah

Should curve it up into a halfpipe and put a rock wall on the side. Cleveland X Games!- Cars & Vehicles Discussion (History, etc)
So I hit a deer in my Honda Fit over the July 4 weekend and I can attest that used car prices are insane right now. Long story short, I paid idk ~$12,500 for a 2015 Fit EX w/Manual Transmission in 2018 and these days the lower end version of that (LX) with similar miles would go for like $20k, it's insane. Of course Honda killed off the Fit a year or two ago, makes a ton of sense. Needless to say, thankfully my car wasn't totaled because of how insane the market is currently - they valued it at $12k (it's got ~115k miles on it now) and honestly if I got a second appraiser I bet it would've come in higher. It kind of effed me up looking at used car prices before my valuation came back, you can't get most used cars w/decent mileage for under $20k, absolutely insane.- Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
My understanding is that "Edison's" was never trademarked and the recipes resided with the bar and owner of 40 years, not the other way around. So there was a spat between bar and the "new" Edison's group (who operated next door to the bar) and since it wasn't trademarked they ran with their idea to Lucky's. Edison's Bar = Edison's Pizza. I wasn't completely sober when I was talking w/someone about this but that's how I came to understand it (or I'm completely remembering wrong...). Either way, I came away from it pro-Edison's (bar) vs Edison's (pizza).- Cleveland: Clark–Fulton / Stockyards: Development and News
hah, looking at real estate stuff and they're starting to call it Ohio City lol surprisingly it wasn't a CALLING ALL INVESTORS listing, either.- Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion

Next UO meetup at Galaxy Karaoke? oof that'd be embarasing.- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Today Also per the Sherwin the cat saga - SHW sent me the goods! No insider info though. Also their PR reached out and they'll be doing a story in their internal newsletter lol consider me a SHW stan at this point.- Cleveland: Downtown: Skyline 776 (City Club Apartments)

Streetscape related: a few folks on twitter were talking about lack of enforcement regarding pedestrian ROW's and construction projects and after tagging Kerry M., he's going to have people out 'inspecting' Jack and the area by Corner Alley for violations of the new law. That's great, but also Kerry, my dude, have you not walked around your district lately? These are two of many where peds get the shaft.- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
I've got my pitchfork ready to picket opening night of Fahrenheit, he's probably the reason there's no public access too. Jerk. In all seriousness, that's a good call - between that, the shack lit up, tower lit up, and general activity around there it's going to be a pretty darn cool spot to hang out. Hopefully the patio is open in winter for a UO Meetup - we've had too many inside! lol- Cleveland: Fairfax: Development and News
After biking a huge part of the city I can say that the housing stock (what's been maintained, or is close to the edge between fix/tear down) in the neighborhoods you mention are more interesting, unique, and frankly cooler than most anything in Tremont or Edgewater. I don't necessarily agree with Bibb's surge to Mt. Pleasant but there are a LOT of nice homes over there (and corner stores/mixed use) that go unnoticed. I think a lot of the non-sexy neighborhoods have their own core areas that can be focused on - problem is a tiny bit here and there isn't going to do anything noticeable (so maybe I do agree with the MTP surge? hah).- Cleveland: Fairfax: Development and News
And my understanding is that Cleveland Building and Housing's new director Sally Martin O'Toole is hoping to do this. It sounds like they were waiting on the WRLC Property survey to come back to start work (which it did about a month ago), hopefully they start cracking down finally.- Cleveland: Downtown: Justice Center Complex Replacement
I think my bike will eventually sue me for contracting mesothelioma lol Interesting - I know the potential jail site will include additional parcels but county PW saying it's a $60-100M is slightly off lol- Cleveland: Fairfax: Development and News
At some point I hope the city stops the demo bleeding. There's like 6 vacant lots within a stones throw of the property, without looking I'd venture that most are land bank properties too.- Cleveland: Fairfax: Development and News
Nothing too crazy happening here but still caught my eye - some (seemingly) notable renos going on at E.83/Cedar.- Cleveland: Downtown: Justice Center Complex Replacement
I'll hold back on going too deep into the urbex/ruin porn wormhole on this one, but after exploring the Kirby/Eddy/Coit site it would make probably more sense to put it over there vs Garfield - it's all industrial, mostly abandoned warehouses but hoooooboy it'll take a LOT of cleanup. They've been using the former warehouse portion as a covered dump and yeah, obviously between lead, asbestos, and remnants of former manufacturing it'll be a heavy lift. It's also pretty funny that when a site is looked at closely the building owners start actually caring about it (a little). In this case all obvious entrances to the old National Acme Co. are boarded up (they were previously wiiiiide open) other buildings in this block also have more activity than I've previously seen on jaunts over there. Appreciate the clarification. After listening to the No New Jail Coalition, they really don't have a great argument. I think council could go through with the Transport Rd. site and many people in the county wouldn't even realize it. That said, the Exec is imagining more of a campus and had mentioned things like a farm/garden and things of that sort. Not sure I'd want to eat any greens from the Industrial Valley. Also, it seems like if they go back to the Transport site it's going to cost them a ton of money on top of previous numbers. I'm kind of surprised there hasn't been pushback to the Kirby Ave. site (yes, separated by 90, but still..) from Bratenahl folk. Also on the western side of Eddy there's some really nice, unique, housing stock. If they were to choose the Kirby site selfish me needs to get pics in there before the county goes in and remediates it lol. (Actually, ya know what, I'm going to get some pics of the site to share here so y'all can see what the county is dealing with...)- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Lol here's a few more. And if anyone wants to try a crack at a rendering from this view (the crane is right above The Standard)...- Cleveland: Downtown: Justice Center Complex Replacement
Curious, not trying to be a jerk or anything, but why does the county jail belong in Cleveland? Some drive times to/from sites: Garfield Site to JC - 17min/12.5mi Garfield Site to Metro - 12min Downtown to Garfield (Bussing) - 35min Kirby Ave. to JC - 10min/7mi Kirby Ave. to Metro - 14min Downtown to Kirby Ave. - 46min - Cleveland: Downtown: Skyline 776 (City Club Apartments)
