hmmm, I'll see next time I'm in there (Public Admin Library). FWIW they had a lot of pages of narrative/descriptions of buildings but it seemed like mostly exterior renderings.

More renderings, but here are some (crappy) photos of the Group Plan from 1907
  4. Welp moving day is here for Medical Mutual
  5. FWIW DCA does a pretty good job w/maintenance (if these are under their purview).
  6. Not saying they're 1:1 but curious how the Julian Stanczak murals were received way back when.

As a map nerd (and with about ten maps to add to this post) I figure this could be a cool place to post historic maps (and just cool maps in general) that you might come across. These come from the General Plan of Cleveland from Cleveland Planning Commission in 1951. ( @Boomerang_Brian) And from IM Pei's Erieview Plan:
  8. I know this might have a better home in the Historic Photos section (mods feel free to move), but I went full UO on lunch break and took a look over the Erieview Plan that this image came from (this is the original IM Pei Presentation). Figure some folks might enjoy what was/wasn't. Phase one (dark) phase 2 (light)
  9. Walking down Euclid today:
  10. I biked through a week or two ago (when I got this photo), I'll have to keep an eye out next time I'm in there - any general location?
  11. Ask and ye shall receive. This is from yesterday. Still figuring out the 'photosphere' setting on my phone..
  12. Put together a potential bike route for our next official meetup - planned it out of Brick and Barrel, but Forest City would work out great too. Details are in the Cle Bike Ped News:
  13. Drew up a quick bike route that could be part of the next UO meetup - I imagined leaving out of Brick and Barrel, but could also try for Forest City. This would have us going on the future Irishtown Bend Park (folks could walk over from either brewery if they felt inclined), on the bike path around the outskirts of Thunderbird, across the bridge and (kind of hairy, but manageable) up the Front Ave hill into the city, past SHW, City Club, and into Ohio City (via Gateway/L-C Bridge/path) to check out Waterford Bluffs, Duck Island, and scoot over to see Intro, and if we wanted to go up the bike path a little bit to see Treo and then return back. It'd probably come out to be about ten miles and really, the only area that would have traffic is once we pop out into downtown, but the streets I picked are pretty quiet. If anything, this demonstrates just how much is going on in such a small area!
  14. I'm split. Glad Cuyahoga County retained it, but also kind of (maybe?) glad this compound isn't in Cleveland. I know it won't all be locked down (hotels/retail) but the last thing we need is another Applied Industrial Industries type compounds in the city. Then again look at all the industrial properties we have that sit abandoned and languishing. I guess it would've been a great opportunity for the Opportunity Corridor.
  15. Per your last part, I thought the city's new code enforcement person (...from Euclid) had a plan for this not sure where its at. And I know a lot of lower income/older folks live in these older and falling apart homes - obviously you don't want to kick them out because of lack of maintenance I'm curious what the city/county/non-profits could do to help folks keep their homes but also not let them completely fall apart. And PS- thanks!
  16. I really wish there were more money allocated for home repair. (Humble brag) but I've biked about 65% of the city and going up and down streets you see a bunch of gems that are close to the brink (with folks still living in them) - or places that are vacant but still salvageable (and these vacants are usually owned by LLC 'investors' who don't pay taxes and try and sell it to other LLC investors for $10-20k, but I digress). Maybe a topic for another thread, but it'd be real nice if the city stopped subsidizing demolition contractors and instead subsidized builders and rehab folk otherwise some neighborhoods are going to become even more and more desolate. Proof I'm not BS'ing! lol
  17. Annoying Bills fan here - the suburban site of the Bills Stadium isn't the best siting, but (probably similar to the Browns) they cited cost savings (in addition to Bills tailgate culture - come to a game, you'll understand it's not a 'motel' of a culture) in keeping it where it is. All of the core infrastructure is there (much like Browns Stadium today - think of how much electric and water needs to feed into the stadium), you don't need to eminent domain any housing in the downtown core (another proposed site), or upgrade highways (their Outer Harbor/Central Terminal sites), and the stadium is not in great shape and time was of the essence (seems true for the most part). A lot could be improved with the Bills plan (yo, extend the train out there!) but at the same time (to beat a dead horse) a downtown stadium isn't all it's cracked out to be, domed or otherwise. Hopefully the Haslam's (and others) can activate the lakefront around the stadium but man is it quiet down there 355 days out of the year. Who knows maybe we'll get a Pilot/Flying J themed hotel down there. To Add: It seems like the Browns wouldn't (won't?) have issues with their other proposed sites re: eminent domain, or maybe even utilities/infrastructure but still, as Ken has stated - easiest and cheapest at the current site
  18. I wonder how Marie feels about this.
  19. I'm going to plan on being here for anyone that needs an excuse for a mini-UO meetup.
  20. It's amazing how much was torn down, but also amazing some of the buildings that were saved and completely redone. I never would've thought that the Powerhouse/Aquarium today was absolutely left for dead back in the day. Likewise some of the others that have (barely) survived around town. Heck, I can't believe they didn't totally demo E55/Broadway in Slavic Village - sure seems like that's what they did just about everywhere else in town.
  21. I can't believe that you don't need a special license to drive half of these monstrosities. Lift your truck 400 feet off the ground as as long as it doesn't have air brakes no problem. Same goes for ppl driving those bus rv's - the fact you can propel a bus down the highway without any extra training or expectations is pretty insane.
  22. Shhh...but a lot of these have garages in the middles and street parking in between.
