Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
Maybe the city threatened taking away his development rights for the lakefront if he moved? Not sure how that works, but sure seems like this is a big about-face for someone who commissioned a study to prove how terrible the current stadium is/justify a new build.

He certainly bought it...

Cleveland: University Circle: Circle Square
hah I didn't dig in too deeply so you're probably right. What I saw was like 8k (PIT) vs ~9k (CLE) - I didn't dig into census data or anything. Having lived down that way though, I wonder if 20k are permanent residents..

Cleveland: University Circle: Circle Square
As it continues to grow, it seems like it could have a similar energy to Oakland in Pittsburgh. Obviously Case at a hair over 12k students is nothing near Pitt/CMU's ~50k students, but at this point (according to a google search) more people live in UC than Oakland (edit: this is probably wrong hah). As more things get built up and out, it can really, really fly. With that, the city needs to push CCF to have more street retail or something to not kill that energy.

(not to derail the thread!! but..) Just FYI Green Goat is a George business, do with that what ya please.

Love Bookhouse - was about to say you really have to want to go there because it's so isolated...then I remember how much money I've spent at Noble Beast...but yes, if you're coming from that strip, it's so quiet/dead past Kan Zaaman. PS- I know during front a few years back there was a big hubub about that community center being revamped into a OHC welcome center, guessing that died with the pandemic?

Cleveland: Ohio City: Irishtown Bend Park
And this dream is dashed by the Design Review Board because it blocks out the steeple of a church five miles away and is planned to be too close to the road, so instead it becomes a parking deck with storefronts that are too small to put anything meaningful in. Okaaaay time to get coffee lol

Just a heads up that there are no air rights (in a parcel sense) at this site currently. To put my parcel nerd cap on, the majority of air rights belong to the Terminal Tower/Higbees complex, Airport has a few, Lumen has a couple (their parking deck, I put those in 🤓), and some scattered throughout (there was actually one where the county building is, but I think they bought that imaginary cube). Not sure if creating air rights would be worth the hassle vs figuring out a way to build and lease out the structure. PS - not to say they couldn't create air parcels, it's just they don't exist at this time.

hah, I didn't even notice those when taking the pics. That is a cool perspective! I'll see if I can get a better angle for @Geowizicalto do one of their top notch renders.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Looked at this the other day (and the other parts of their site - which they have some good site photos!) but doesn't really provide much of an update. This has been up all along. I guess bldg foundation and core should be done by fall-ish but...will it?

Does anyone have any inside baseball knowledge on if they're on schedule/happy with progress? I'd imagine our light winter helped out some.

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
I get it (and it let it be known I'm neutral) but at the same time people in Playhouse most likely won't be heading any significant distance east on Euclid (or west for that matter). Most people come in in cars and leave in cars so I doubt they'd notice a change in the lighting if it were to be unique to PHS. The lighting in the 60s was strangely unique, it'd be cool to revamp things a bit (aside from maintaining existing trees, idk what else would add that pop) but I'm descending into the Streetscapes thread hah

Cleveland: Ohio City: Irishtown Bend Park
Maybe it's because I'm hyper fixated on UO centric stuff but that one comment in the insta post - "prime real estate...or it was" (bad paraphrasing) - irks me. The fact that so many folks have zero clue that this is about to be a massive transformative park is kind of wild. Seems like some world class signage would be helpful to get the word out, I'll call Marie and see what she can cook up.

Cool, thanks for the heads up. If I'm available I'll definitely try for it! Speaking of unique bike tours - hopefully NEORSD does a bike the plant again, super cool experience.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
This has to look cool from the approach on 2 in either direction - can't say I come across the Main Ave. bridge that often, but if anyone's taking the 55 in please snap a pic! Also PS, nice job everyone photoshopping blue skies into the pics, y'all really have me convinced the sun exists.

CLEVELAND UrbanOhio Happy Hour - TODAY!!!, March 9 @ Saucy Brew Works
The more I've thought it over I'm going to be a game time decision - getting ready to drive down to FL tomorrow and have done zero packing or planning or anything other than "drive south". If anything I wouldn't mind setting up a little bike ride or something before our next meetup. PS- anyone have any banned books they want me to leave around down there?
