  1. I mean you can smell the oil on the L-C bridge or in Tremont when the breeze is blowing towards the neighborhood so that's probably not great hah.
  2. I'd imagine their plan is to recoup legal fees from the George family.
  3. Fight over key property in Irishtown Bend redevelopment has cost the public more than $1.6 million https://signalcleveland.org/fight-over-key-property-in-irishtown-bend-redevelopment-has-cost-the-public-more-than-1-6-million/ George's quote (through a lawyer) “The George family purchased this property in 2018 simply because they wanted to continue to contribute to the exciting and transformational development happening along W. 25th Street,” the statement read. “The Georges are not, and never have been, opposed to the Park or the Project. The George family remains hopeful that there can be a resolution that is fair to all parties and furthers the parties’ shared vision for an even more vibrant, exciting, and accessible neighborhood.”
  4. I was hoping the Bills were going to make some 2H adjustments but it never happened. I'd much rather get beat by the Bengals vs Chiefs, next week is going to be a good game.
  5. William Sherwins crab shack
  6. Selling the rest of the trains and opting into hyperloop! OR (bike cleveland proposal)? OR (hand car local 34's proposal)?
  7. my only question for the admin - why didn't you right click and ignore the spell check recommendation???? lol
  8. Yep, you can see it in 2007 streetview.
  9. Wow that's terrible phewwwwwwww
  10. Gave me a nice excuse to do some exploring last night (please be mindful sharing these):
  11. Shots fired! But you're totally correct in this assumption, as we say the GIS is only an abstraction of the actual lines. I worked some of the lines around the towpath years ago and to be honest there wasn't a ton of monumentation to work off of. Unfortunately a new plat/survey won't come in until they choose to either consolidate or further break up the parcels.
  12. Bibb is off in DC again. It really seems like he hasn't spent like two consecutive weeks in Cleveland in his entire term. Is he gunning for Governor? House?
  13. Abrasive take, but you see this with subdivisions out in rural parts of the county all the time. If you don't own the land you aren't entitled to preventing development on said land. Call these townhouses on the trail Phase I and the development below Phase II and you can see how this can quickly be equated to a subdivision looking out on farm land.
  14. ^and are maintained. It's a shame they can call the path along the OC a bike path. It looks like an absolutely miserable time/path you'd only take because you have to. I wonder how many trees along the path will stick around after the winter. Sorry sorry, in a pessimistic mood today.
  15. Started up my bike commute again and the frustration builds just a little bit more when I'm riding down 25/Pearl and into town. I know Bike Cle is pushing for more connectivity (and RTA is planning on making this a bus only lane as part of BRT) but there are very few places where I'd feel safe biking with folks who aren't 'road hardened' in this city. I hope money and time can go towards simple, cheap projects in addition to these huge midway-esque projects. PS- Sharrows are not bike infrastructure. (And southbound)
  16. I know I can put this in the restaurants thread but I'd say it's development related enough...AJ Rocco's progress from a quick peek. Seems like they still have a ways to go.
  17. My god, a buffer from the parking lane AND traffic. Excited for 2038 when it's finally built! (frustrated sarcasm so don't mind me lol)
  18. An article from the lead NIMBY of this project. Pretty much the "yard" was used during the one week of Hessler Street Fair so it can't be developed ever. https://hesslerstreet.wordpress.com/2023/01/16/city-and-developer-berusch-team-up-for-another-inappropriate-development-in-the-hessler-historic-district/
  19. I was taken aback when I went to a game in Detroit and there were no service fees at the box office AND they still had paper tickets (enabling a healthy secondary market..but ticketmaster couldn't take their cut..) but I digress.
  20. The shipping containers being phased out is great, but I wonder how often that space will be staffed. During the first month or so of the season you can only access like the first few sections in each direction and even on some weekend games concessions aren't open up top. Also per the stadium not being filled - I work across the street - I'd make my way to a LOT more games (weekday too!) if I wasn't taken to the cleaners every time I wanted to attend.
  21. FWIW as part of the sale between the county and Bridgeworks an easement was granted to access the bridge deck. I wonder if that plays into things when it comes to securing(?) the bridge if this were to happen.
  22. @Geowizicalcare to photoshop a sunny day? lol
  23. FYI, I couldn't find if the maps were public anywhere so I'll err on the side of caution in posting them. The potential locations in Brooklyn and Euclid were chosen due to proximity to existing substations/businesses (duh). But it makes a lot more sense when you're actually looking at the map hah.
  24. I grew up in WNY and go home often, there are a decent amount of "no turbines on the lake" signs and with that I wouldn't trust the Jamestown Post Journal or Dunkirk Observer for any type of deep cut analysis. They share the same editorial board and are very predicable in their takes, not to mention they're owned by Ogden Newspapers who put out nationwide editorials on occasion (like you see with Sinclair Broadcasting). A bunch of turbines recently came online up on the ridges up and around where I grew up and people who aren't making money from them aren't happy about them. Folks are also still salty about a coal power plant being shut down that would provide a ton of PILOT funding for the area. All that said, I think the offshore team could do a much better job demonstrating that the turbines wouldn't be visible to most if not all people via viewshed analysis. I've done an analysis like this in college and it was kind of shocking how little of an impact on sightlines turbines have when you take into account buildings and obstructions that already exist.
