CLEVELAND UrbanOhio 2022 Meet: Masthead at Saturday June 18 @ 11:30am
Any interest in a holiday get-together? Ope. There's always next year.

Buffalo Central Terminal ruins
That specific rink was getting hit by wind pretty hard, I'd imagine that played into it. They also didn't have the overhead heat on so I'm sure that played into it too. I grew up in WNY/in a hockey family and the experience would probably outweigh any crap conditions. We traveled to some pretty crappy barns over the years lol.

I was wondering what they do when the winds are ripping and roaring - tennis style windguards? I walked over from the Cobblestone side and you're right, it's definitely isolated but it seems like it's spurring some development in the immediate area. When I was walking through the parking lot to the rinks I honestly thought people thought I was breaking into cars or something lol I don't think many people walk over there. It's a cool reuse though, I need to go back earlier in the day maybe get an open skate in for the full experience. Open skate there and then walk over and open skate at Canalside which has turned out to be a GREAT use of the riverfront.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
From some googling - snippet from a Crains Article: The Charge finished in the top 10 in G League attendance, averaging 2,066 fans over 17 home dates.

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
I haven't seen this posted anywhere (but I could be wrong) but Hessler project got a redesign: https://thelandcle.org/stories/hessler-road-re-do-developer-back-at-it-with-six-3-bedroom-apartments/. Don't worry, the residents are still pushing back (they want to preserve the 'greenspace' aka a parking lot).

Cleveland: Downtown: New Police Headquarters
Working in parcels for a handful of years, I learned very quickly that if you don't own the land around your bucolic subdivision there's a good chance that the corn field you look out on is going to be a subdivision sooner than later. Likewise, if you don't own the building you can't expect it to stay the same forever. It sucks and I hope these studios find a new space, but the woe is me tone is a lot. Wishful but I hope there's some relocation assistance provided.

I hear it's to announce that balloons are coming back

There's definitely plenty of space in the area to move to. I think it'd be pretty cool to see a swap with the old cop shop on Payne. Of course it's not as huge but it'd be a creative new use of the Payne bldg. probably not 'revenue generating' enough though.

Relevant to the discussion - they've done a really cool job on their industrial area - they've got an area called Riverworks - and while it's not anything crazy it's a neat reuse of former industrial land. They pretty much created a whole ecosystem around the grain silos in the area - two ice rinks, rock climbing, bars, a small dock for what looks like a ferry, etc.

Cleveland: Hotel Development
Fidelity Hotel/Baker Bldg. looks like all the floors (that I could see from the parking garage) are demoed and wide open. Some of these rooms (top 3-4 floors) should have a nice view of Terminal Tower.

Wandered around the old passenger platform and whatnot here's an album of the pics: https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjAh2ry There's fencing up around the main building - from what I can gather they're restoring at least the lobby. A couple highlights:

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
It was a major issue a few years back when they were discussing mothballing the top floors. That's a good question though - I'd imagine that concrete is somehow full of it lol

Cleveland: Opportunity Corridor Boulevard
Perhaps something that provides "Opportunity" and not just for construction jobs.

I like Rhodes how it is, love it or hate it, it's a good example of brutalism and I think it should stick around as is.

On the UCC building - let the power company in! (peeking in the windows it seems like UCC pretty much emptied out everything in preparation for the sale/for the sale).

Cleveland: Downtown: Skyline 776 (City Club Apartments)
So the CC we stayed in was pretty much a rebrand of another building and aside from the lobby you probably wouldn't have known that it was a CC. Kind of crazy though, the lobby was spot on..otherwise it was just another apartment haha Otherwise just a regular hotel/apartment complex...

Cleveland: Downtown: Skyline 776 (City Club Apartments)
Sorry to be blowing up this thread, but I'm headed to Detroit for the Bills game and just so happens I'll be staying in one of their City Clubs - I'll be sure to post some photos. Looking through the listing it was very obvious it was a CC lol can't wait to experience the over the top gaudiness in person!

Sounds right. That place was great...well by TC standards

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
This video doesn't do it justice but the windows do look really nice dressed up. I'm kind of impressed with how much Gilbert/Bedrock has started to take ownership of the space...

I haven't been to Boney Fingers since they moved to the Days Inn but I'd be curious how their traffic has changed with their move right across from CSU vs the Arcade. Kind of surprising that there aren't more food joints across the street from that part of campus. I could see that neck of Euclid being like E College St across from Penn State: https://goo.gl/maps/7D88FtUzA6zbSm2F6

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
So I had to take my car to the shop in Cle Hts and took the 9 into town. I saw the Healthline was right behind us so I hopped off around UH thinking that'd be faster and more efficient...yeah, no. I do wonder if/when Bibb will prioritize HL signals. And sidenote, ambassadors got on around CCF and just hung out they weren't checking anything.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Welp I just booked a hotel in Detroit for the game, hopefully tickets are like they usually are in these events - first come first serve, we shall see! Go Bills! And they've done a bunch to prop up their Canalside area (near the Sullivans) and historically have had their industries more segregated to specific parts of town vs the entire lakefront. They've managed to put bike infrastructure in on the Niagara and on the Lake which is pretty nice compared to what we currently have.
