Cleveland: St. Clair-Superior (non-Asiatown): Development and News
Bigger picture, suburbanites and people from outside of the county shouldn't dictate what's best for our citizens 364 days out of the year. Too often the city caves to the interests of the well connected few, which, thankfully, it doesn't sound like they're doing here.

Cleveland-Akron: Bicycling Developments and News
This is wild, I wonder how many people that attend St. Pats Parade even live in the city... Organizers say Cleveland’s St. Patrick Day parade being ‘pushed out’ by new bike lane on Superior Ave https://www.cleveland.com/news/2024/12/organizers-say-clevelands-st-patrick-day-parade-being-pushed-out-by-new-bike-lane-on-superior-ave.html The argument is essentially over whether six feet of landscaping should be removed from the project — giving the parade route 30 feet to work with, instead of 24 feet. (Parade Organizer) Murphy said the parade organizers are asking for the landscaped area to be made narrower along the route, with 5-feet on either side of the bike lane instead of 8-feet. That would allow the north side of Superior Avenue to be 30-feet wide, two 12-foot lanes and 6-feet of striped off extra space. The 24-feet width is a sticking point, said Calley Mersmann, the city’s senior strategist for Transit and Mobility. She said wider road leads to faster driving speeds, and that the reason to narrow Superior Avenue is to cut down on speeding and crashes lead to injuries. As it stands today, the downtown road is so wide the current traffic only uses 27% of Superior Avenue’s capacity.

lol, I got a spam message yesterday and didn't think anything of it - it was for the survey (I've got a 716 number). I'm no STH or anything of the sort (go bills!) but yep, survey is closed for me too. Must not have gone the way they anticipated. Also to roll with snakebite's point - there's nothing better than the ability to take the bus/train/not drive to a game and be done with it, I can't believe how annoying the new stadium will be from that front. A large reason for Buffalo not building in the city was the massive utility work and infrastructure work that would need to be done (easier and cheaper to move it across the street) but man is it a bummer that you need to drive to all of their games. Yes, there are city busses that go out there, but you've only got a few for how many thousand fans that would consider it. Edit to add, Cle dot com picked up on the BS nature of the survey- https://www.cleveland.com/news/2024/12/read-the-questions-in-poll-seeking-support-for-12-billion-in-taxes-for-domed-browns-stadium.html

Kind of wild that they had to digitize these and weren't provided a file from the consultant. $100k doesn't buy much these days. Sidenote, Blaine was on Sound of Ideas the other day and it's quite apparent he really doesn't like Councilwoman Maurer daylighting any of the process.

Cleveland: Downtown: Medical Mutual HQ Renovation
Walk around the area after work and it's still dead on non-event days. Clevelander is the only place with folks, AJ's has staff sitting on the stools, Whistle has maybe 1 person in it, CityTap has 3 people.

Cleveland: Downtown: Medical Mutual HQ Renovation
Call me a skeptic, but on non-event days you can barely tell there's 20k residents downtown. Weekend evenings are a different story, but during the day it's crickets over this way (E9/Prospect) and that's with a bunch of surrounding apartments. Even when MM was in there, there was very little traffic around the building, here's to be proven wrong.

Brook Park: New Cleveland Browns Stadium
Might've been a bad deal for the state but it was a great deal for the county all things considered. If we could shift ownership of the stadium from local to state, that'd be a massive win for our region (financially), but Ohio would never go for that. Likewise, the NFL would never go for some type of profit sharing agreement that this article is kind of hinting at. I hope whatever public funding mechanism is developed comes up for a public vote, granted Jimmy and Dee know how to make their money work. The bills went waaaay too fancy with the new stadium, but 1999 Browns Stadium is 10000x nicer than 1960's Bills Stadium. An aside: as a native WNY'er, the NY Post is never going to go along with any subsides for upstate, but that's not for Urban Ohio.

Hard to say, maybe a thousand+? I'm guessing capacity is 5k because they said free ts to first 5k fans. Definitely some kinks to work out w concessions but can't beat it for $7 lol. Lol chose to get photos when the hallways were quiet, I swear I wasn't the only one there. Such a neat building. Also worth noting, they're using the cavs city floor from last? year. The embellishments in the 3 point line really add to the mystique.- Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Yep, and as an aside, you'll see this issue with a lot of Esri Open Data sites (the county's included). The data might be updated in the background, but it doesn't necessarily update the date in the info window. We try and notate when things are updated, Cleveland does a really good job with this, too.- Cleveland: Port Authority News & Info

I know it's not the point of the current discussion, but the "riot" was a peaceful march before teargas was released by CPD, that's what really set people off and caused people to fan out. Before: I took a roadtrip that summer and Cleveland made out pretty well, comparatively.- Brook Park: New Cleveland Browns Stadium
Honestly if you listen to his interviews he's been the most level headed throughout all of this. I can't fault him for the position jimmys idiocy has put him in.- Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Tons of people go to Dike 14 to bird watch in crappy conditions. I was out at Chapin Forest XC skiing this past weekend and lots of folks were still out there in spite of the pretty aggressive windchill. I think if you build a place for four seasons you're in a decent spot. There's plenty of people in this town that enjoy the winter and crap weather that comes with it - add some warming huts on the outer reaches of Burke and some groomed xc ski/snowshoeing trails and rentals and I bet the people show up. Buffalo has some MTB trails/small rock park/pump track as part of their outer harbor revamp and it's pretty popular. Same goes for the trails on the water side. If you can't beat the weather, join it.- Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Future planning. It's not like you wave a wand and Burke shuts immediately. It's most likely a decades long process. I mean, just look at how long CHEERS is going to take just down the way.- Cleveland City Council
