Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
I'll double down and say that more cops is not the answer walking the beat or not. You need people that are capable of creating relationships with and garnering respect of people on the square. Cops are not the answer to that. If you can find community members to adopt the space and know the people, keep eyes on the square (or neighborhood or wherever) stuff like this should be prevented. Maybe I'm kumbaya'ing with Jane Jacobs a bit hard at this point but we need to stop with the more cops will solve it rhetoric.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Not sure how more cops would make this situation better. The real problem is people not having the mental wherewithal to realize you can solve disputes without guns. This comes down to our city being broken and mental health being so absolutely low on the funding spectrum that folks really think shooting someone over a dumb argument is the smart thing to do. The trauma in this city is real and unless you catch it early you'll keep ending up with situations like these.

Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
FYI they were moving dirt this morning at 'Thunderbird' or whatever we're calling it. Could hear the earth moving and concrete breaking going on from the L-C bridge.

Cleveland: Brooklyn Centre / Old Brooklyn: Development and News
Maybe we can turn it into more parking for Dina's with a shuttle bus. What a bummer though, this had some real potential... Memphis is really a crap stretch of stroad which stinks bc there are some really nice neighborhoods/housing surrounding it.

Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
TBH it's pretty new (like, last six months new) but they haven't pushed a news release or anything so it's all organic promotion for now, enjoy!

Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
Reminder that the county hasn't really gone out of their way to publicize it but we have a TIF Dashboard and Abatements Dashboard as part of a larger Fiscal Information Hub. Not to distract from the subject at hand but it can help show some trends and when they eventually expire...

Cleveland: Downtown: Skyline 776 (City Club Apartments)
Reminds me of the Lumen rising - you go from looking down on the workers trying to figure out what's going on to them being way above ya in no time! Cool problem to have haha.

One of the more frequent posters who would always drum stuff up in the OldBK group offered a CCW course, no conflict there!

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
Neighborhood "Crime and Safety" facebook groups, Nextdoor, and similar apps are full of people who love to pile on and complain; it's usually the same posters "discussing" non-issues or throwing casual racism in like it's 1950. I was on the Old BK group for a solid 5 minutes before realizing what a trash fire it was. Real sources <> anecdotes from facebook.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
lolllllllllllllll come on. I've lived there for over 6 years and this is far from the truth. Cleveland and the Census also refute your claim that people are moving out, like you can't just throw facts out there and expect them to fly. I'm routinely walking or biking around the city after hours and rarely (if ever) do I feel unsafe. Most gun violence in this city is targeted (ie gang shootings) with the very rare innocent bystander involved. Please cite your sources next time you try and go off.

Cleveland: Downtown: Justice Center Complex Replacement
Here's the article: https://www.cleveland.com/news/2022/10/cuyahoga-county-puts-all-jail-planning-on-hold.html A quote from Council Prez Jones: “While I strongly believe that further delay is a mistake, it is their mistake to make,” Jones said of the next executive. “I urge the next county executive to swiftly identify a plan and a funding source for addressing the critical needs at the county jail. Council will be ready to work in good faith to consider your proposal.” He's been on council since 2011 and the failing jail report was issued in 2014. Pinning this on the next executive is a pretty wild strategy when they've had so much time to debate this that the cost of the project nearly doubled in since they first started planning it.

FWIW DCA does water the planters around town - either it's via pickup or a little gator.

Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
Took a long walk yesterday, man, this tree situation is dire. Was going past Global Health and Innovation Center (whatever) and there's like 5+? empty planters where trees once were. What exactly does our forestry department do? Granted, knowing how govt. job shuffle goes, I wonder where Urban Forestry is on the job rollercoaster - which jobs within the city are considered Siberia and where crap employees are sent to? Also lol reading through their site, 'maintaining' is not in their department description.
