NCAA Football: General News & Discussion
Haven't they been trending towards the ACC? Might want to rethink that now CFB is almost turning into an AFC and NFC w/those two conferences...

Since we're letting opinions be known, I'm not a huge fan of the east side site - you'd have to demo a lot of buildings as someone said up top and I'm not convinced you'd get the amount of usage or economic benefit that folks are speaking about. Also, I'm partial, but where's Noble Beast in all of this?!? I look to the area around Ford Field in Detroit (even Little Caesars Arena) and despite promises to build out the areas around them there's really not much going on. I think the Post Office site would be great (despite most browns fans driving in from outside of the county) but you'd think it may give RTA a boost on game days with people parking and riding. Also, as far as demolition and moving businesses/people is concerned this is most painless. Lastly, per the Goodyear Blimp shots, etc. etc., this stadium will be here for a long time - who's to say that things won't change in 20-30-50 years in this area?

Get a better bike! lol joking, one thing that's great about this neighborhood is having the Metroparks nearby where they actually clear paths in the winter (not sure if the D-S side of the path falls under the metroparks jurisdiction or not). I've ranted about it time and time again (mostly during Jackson admin) but Detroit has a great snow plan and there's no reason we can't either (I have faith in Bibb for this). Major League was on the other night and couldn't help but think of this development when they showed Lynn Weslin's apartment lol: The actual movie shows the apartment a lot better than this, but maybe it'll refresh some memories of what I'm talking about.

We shall see, seriously, don't let my negativity/disdain for idiot drivers/the previous administration overshadow what progress has been made in a short time. Here's the BUT- nothing has been visible to the public outside of city hall meetings and hirings - an initial blitz to repaint bike lanes, add sharrows (as useless as they are), and signage would go a long way to show that he's "doing" something, even as small as it'd be compared to Green Streets.

How much of this is because landlords don't care to put tenants in them? But there's a retail thread for this before it inevitably gets wiped out.

As opposed to relinquishing the space forever? Better question - why aren't the spaces renting? Isn't standard supposed to land the souper market (if it hasn't already?), Statler has their coffee shop, area around the Athlon is starting to fill out, and Euclid Grand has been open for like, less than a year to expect those spaces completely filled. I'd rather them be proactive and ready to allow someone to move in vs waiting for a critical mass and facing buildout costs later. All that said, there's vacant storefronts all over downtown but, uhmm, covid.

I think we should copy 'The Bean' except for us it can be a plum. Also in agreement with the stadium and glad that Buffalo didn't go down that route (granted keeping it in the suburbs wasn't great, but whatever..wrong thread). Back to North Coast though - I do like how it's set up now w/volleyball and I was in a kickball league a few years ago, kind of cool being able to be in the heart of it doing those things. Not sure how balance amazing/quiet public space with 'live, work, play' (🤮) amenities.- Vision Zero
I had a conversations with a handful of bike/ped folk and it really is getting frustrating how quiet this admin has been so far with transportation issues. I know it takes getting up to speed and 6 months is such a short time, but like comeon, did we really need green streets legislation to see the obvious? Is it worth putting large amounts of political capital into the midway when there's barely any connected bike lanes in this city (different funding sources, I get it..)? Like yeah, the world is peachy when you live in OC/Tremont and all you have to do is cross a bridge and you're home...meanwhile riding to/from Old Brooklyn (or any other secondary/fringe(?) neighborhood can be a sh*tshow.- Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
Not sure how it works in the downtown core, and I guess this also falls within the DCA special assessment area so maybe DCA shares some responsibility? Either way past the Arcade headed W the sidewalk is starting to bow pretty good. Whoever's responsible better get on it soon. Edit: down the street they were working around a CPP box, so maybe that's where the city comes in?- Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
Yep, as great as it is to have this fixed they did a crap job w/concrete and the fact it took nearly two months is mind boggling. Maybe the administration got flustered with the 'euclid garden' and the press it received. Hopefully the city can work to have more of a pep to their step when it comes to one of the city's signature streets.- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Pretty sure the person you're thinking of was from the design team, I had the same reaction though. Not a pleasant person at all.- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
ooo good catch- Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
I think I like the 'Sign Family Option 2' in here, kind of cheesy but also unique - incorporating paint swatches into their signage vs generic signage. Idk how it will age but idk, seems pretty unique branding opportunity. PS - didn't mean to steal @mrclifton88's thunder upthread! Glad we're in agreement haha- Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
Finally! Maybe the city took note of Jack's antics up the street and figured they should do something...still embarrassing how long this has taken - Cleveland: North Coast Harbor Developments
