Going to try and actually make an effort to get a pic of it (and maybe race it on the bike) this weekend haha

Cleveland: Downtown: Skyline 776 (City Club Apartments)
...didn't City Club Bldg owners object to the construction over fears of vibration and whatnot? Or am I making that up. Then again, they're pretty much building up against three buildings so safe vs sorry?

Fully expected to see some UO folks on the deck today..

Cycling Advocacy
Here's a 'duh' study from OSU, but at the same time...the more studies like this the better. Here's to hoping traffic engineers are actually listening: The deadly impact of urban streets that look like highways More crashes on roads where drivers think they can drive fast https://news.osu.edu/the-deadly-impact-of-urban-streets-that-look-like-highways

I wonder what color it'll be

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I recall them discussing this a few years back, so glad it hasn't lost steam. Maybe this also plays into making the lift bridge by the new WP bridge more bike/ped centric?

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Seems like just yesterday I was biking around the lot. Interesting w/the porches facing Fulton.

Cleveland: University Circle: Circle Square
Not the greatest photo, but here's one from last night. Looking at it coming through UC and also looking back from like CCF having lights on really shows how transformative this is. Going to be awesome when the library lifts off too. If anyone wants to do some night biking send a dm! haha

Was about to say the same thing lol

Some action at AJ Roccos today- they're lifting things into the second floor from a flatbed outside. Pandemic hasn't helped but they sure are taking it slow.

I think it takes into account your last 30? Which seems off because I def have rides in that above map beyond my last 30 (same here w commuting). I'm tempted to subscribe out of curiosity and see if it bumps my numbers.

Cleveland: Housing Market
Tremont and OHC knockdowns and builds would disagree. I don't think it's equitable to put the burden of higher property taxes on folks who have been living in these neighborhoods for 20+ years when abatement folks can move out when it comes time to pay up. Sure, longtime residents can cash out and move, but again, is that equitable? The neighborhoods that have benefitted the most from this are running (OHC, Tremont, D-S, Little Italy, etc.), the rest of the city? Not so much. We have a sexennial appraisal coming up in 2024 and if these values hold, 2018's public reaction will look like a walk in the park.

Cleveland: Housing Market
A few things: The county is going to be releasing an abatement/tif web app soon so folks will be able to see where the majority of these are and I'm sure the conversation will be interesting. -A lot of people sell their houses after the abatements run out (often around the price they paid for the house), housing prices are inflated because of the abatements in a lot of cases. -I don't think getting rid of the abatement is going to shoo anyone away from the hot neighborhoods - the new housing prices should reflect the true cost vs saving money up front on taxes.

Urban Ohio Strava Group
Yep! lol I think it's dropped off some previous rides, unless you pay for premium it only keeps x% of your previous rides. I've found it to be a pretty awesome tool to keep rides interesting, even if it means me zig-zagging neighborhoods until neighbors get wigged out hah.

Urban Ohio Strava Group
Just bumping this thread up. Hope folks are enjoying this nice weather that's been going on lately! Very UO-centric, but highly recommend tying wandrer.earth to your Strava account- it shows how many new miles you've ridden and tracks it in their site (and posts to your ride description). Just hit 50% of Cleveland the other day, chopping away at the rest- this is a nice tool to keep track!!

In isolation it's so-so kind of 70s office building color, but when you insert something like this into the urban environment it's cool, different and adds to things. Like I said before, I might not like it (in isolation) but as more stuff gets built and things get built around it, I think we'll appreciate the different style. The more diversity we get in buildings the better!

Too bad it wasn't one of the 'redline is on fire' days for Sec. Pete to really see the state of the RTA.

Cleveland: Downtown Parks & Public Spaces - Development/Construction
With such a large study it's hard to account for equity of parks - green space is one thing but quality of amenities is another. The other day I was riding around and came across a park and all the hoops were in terrible shape and court looked like it was last paved/maintained in 1996. I know we've pushed a lot of expectations on the Bibb administration (how can you not after Frank...) but here's to hoping that his people are working to fix this divide.

Totally agree - just because I don't personally like the color it's much better than a grey or a brown or something 'safe'. It's a bit harsh and the kid was kind of a jerk but something that stuck with me was a kid visiting from nyc, who after driving them around downtown, said it felt like soviet design with all the beige and brown, etc. One of the cool things about going to bigger cities is seeing all the different variations in styles, colors, etc. - glad that Euclid is getting the City Club Apts, and now this here. I hope Landmarks and other boards full of architectural critics allow more different designs going forward.
