Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Whoa I hope that works out @YABO713. Good luck (and sorry for tagging with no answers!). Winking Lizard is "officially" out of the space now that advertising is up for the space. Obviously it's been reported that they were closing this location, but up until this they've had 'this locn is temporarily closed' in their windows. Welp cat's out of the bag for those not in the know ha. They're also moving furniture into the Blue Agave(?, I think) restaurant on E4 (what was formerly Zocalo).

Cleveland: Filling in Euclid Avenue
30 Night Minimum stay, interesting (I wonder if this will drop). Out of curiosity I put in for 1BR - 4/1-4/30 - comes out to a grand total of $5,041.07 😬.

Lol of course it is. I honestly don't trust those listicles, it's everyone and the kitchen sink who has them whether it be fish sticks or amazing breaded goodness. Prior to COVID I was doing a neighborhood circuit in Old Brooklyn and oof very hit and miss.

Thanks for these, when I'm on my computer I'll post the reddit thread when I have a bit more time, seemed like there were some good ones. And I joke with fall off the plate fish (kind of), but coming from Buffalo area, I still have yet to find an affordable WNY-esqe fish fry in six years here. Not saying it isn't out there, but oof are really good and affordable ones hard to find.

Any opinions on the best fish fry in the area? I'm talking fall off the plate feel gross after and only pay 12 bucks fish fry. Cleve reddit had a thread, but I trust UO a little more Kind of Lenten restaurant news? hah Also sidenote, a lot of those coffee shops are coffee shops for people who don't care about coffee. As a pour over at desk type person I prefer good coffee over good vibes hah. If anything it was nice to see two OB shops on the list - CCC is hipster and Metropolitan reminds me of a soccer mom's best friend...honestly it's a pretty nice place to get some work done/have meetings.

I'd actually take the road if there were a Tim Hortons lol but yeah totally, definitely ripe for a Sheets/GetGo/etc. gas station of some sort.

Maps (Google Maps, etc)
Semantics (and I know this doesn't answer your question), but when you're in that close you're looking at aerial photography as compared to satellite imagery. Up in Cleveland it's really hit or miss, there are places in major parts of the city/region that don't show on there. Not quite sure what triggers them getting updated imagery. If you're looking for a specific comparison it's worth looking at CAGIS - they have a tool where you can swipe between two years of data. Also Ohio through OSIP just recently completed a flight, too. I did some googling and not sure if Hamilton gets oblique imagery, but if you can find that it's a pretty awesome tool too look back and with sharper detail.

Biking into the city tonight. They've had Ukrainian colors for a few nights now...

Cleveland: Mayor Justin Bibb
Voiced it on twitter, but sure hope they crack down on REBOL parking. I know it's a race not a sprint but tired of seeing them use that space as a parking lot. The bollards are definitely some positive progress, but as the barriers have shown, cars are going to drive wherever they want to drive regardless of what obstacle might be there.

SHW saw it posted here and took it down out of spite from @KJP's reporting throughout the process. Now there's a Q Anon theory for ya.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Irishtown Bend Park
So it really is happening, huh? lol Always enjoyed biking down there, they recently (last time I was down there at least..December?) closed the gate on the northern section of the road. Going to be interesting seeing it all barren and as an active site.

Don't want to be misconstrued as combative, but the issue isn't so much with downtown it's where the job centers are. Think back to the Paradox Prize - getting people from where they live to where they work. Manufacturing is on the fringes of the county and going from Cleveland to Solon on a bus/to a plant isn't exactly worthwhile. I know I've noted this example in the thread before, but someone I know without a license/car got a job at amazon in Euclid, they lived in Maple Heights- his round trip bus travel would be like 3 hours to go a total of 40 miles to go work 8 hours. For comparison that's a 20-25 minute drive. Needless to say, he worked there for like two days. I've gotten worked up over all the highway expansions and nothing going towards transit when we have a stagnant population but it's hard to be optimistic when we're in Ohio.

This is kind of what the redesign was meant to do and kind of did (depending where in the city you live). As far as city vs county reach, I think @LifeLongClevelanderhas done a good job weighing those pros and cons.

Cleveland: Mayor Justin Bibb
Reading the Plain Dealer article, it sure seems like Kazy is going to be his key opposition on council. It'd be fine if it seemed genuine, but it sure seems like he's trying to launch a mayoral campaign two months into Bibb's term with all his soundbites and whatnot.

Walked through tc today and wow, any forumers that are downtown I'd highly recommend you walk through during the ASG. The energy in the new (and popup) stores is exciting and the empty storefronts seem to expose bedrock for what they haven't done in the time they've had the space. Unfortunately the ceiling isn't fixed in the walkway but aside from that TC looks pretty great!- Cleveland: University Circle: Circle Square
