  1. The Arcades are far from a Van Aken-type food hall. Take a look at Mt Vernon marketplace in Baltimore for another good example. Or closer to home - North Market in Cbus.
  2. Armond not seeking a third term:

I have no problem with Tony other than the fact he completely disregarded anywhere BUT SV. He really got the short end of the stick with his district boundary, it covers SV, OB, BC, and a piece of Tremont. Talk about a lot. Rebecca will be different, sure, but I wouldn't consider this to be a disaster for SV, that's a huge overreaction IMO. She's a competent lawyer who's career has been focused on tenant and homeowner rights, lead issues, etc., kind of sounds like it's the type of person that SV could use.
  4. The Lot Split and Consolidation Plat came through the county on 10/25. Within this or next week, the GIS should reflect the one parcel...and we all know it isn't official until it's in the GIS 😆 AFN: 202110260284

@KFM44107 appreciate you sharing your perspective and experience.

Millennial here and I woke up feeling very optimistic today. Not exactly the council results I was hoping for but still, I think old timers (and political families for that matter) that cling to their fiefdoms within the city should take note. I was impressed with Justin from @mack34's initial invite/event, and hope he can act on his ideas. I look forward to basic changes (website!!) and major changes (city departmental shuffling, new cabinet, etc.) that will come about. I have hope that in four years we'll have moved the city much closer to where it should be.

Harsh over Kate Warren in 13, honestly really surprised about that one. Then again Harsh and Kelley voters prob go hand in hand.

The direct mailing companies aren't lol. My mail person is going to be bored when this is all said and done.

All his campaign filings have been for 1717 E. 9th St., your hate for Bibb is something else and really, really tiring.

At least Bibb has teased the idea of studying it and seeing if it's worth it to shut it down. Kelley seems same old/keep on keeping on with it.

Was about to say. It's nothing more than a rehash of everyone's opinion about BKL.
  12. From Today, nothing super new from the outside but brickwork is definitely moving along quickly.

No actual news, but it'll be fun to watch the air traffic at BKL for the RRHOF Ceremonies. Always used to love riding by during cavs runs and seeing what was on the tarmac.

The agencies also announced that they have hired Terri Hamilton Brown, as a project consultant to assist in oversight of Shaker Square.
  15. Literally a month away til the ceremonial gb, non-insider here, but I think that's almost a certainty?
  16. Totally. I'm always surprised how many people I see in downtown leaving parking garages in the mornings. Like, you live downtown and then drive to your job. Wild. Maybe WFH can help remediate some of the sprawl but I have my doubts. Maybe a discussion for another thread.
  17. If the TOD development works out as intended you can't help but wonder how much CO2 can be sequestered vs the trees that are there. Additionally more people closer to where they work should reduce VMT as well. As @lockdog pointed out, [quality] trees should be planted on these vacant lots (WRLC and other orgs are going this route FWIW).

Was at the OBCDC Annual Meeting tonight and Kevin was there. He went out of his way to bring up Issue 24. His campaign mgr (internal polling?) must've said this is his chance to win.
  19. Burke plays into their secondary airport game, kind of surprised they weren't there from the get-go. Facilities probably aren't up to par at BKL but meh, doesn't seem like a huge loss to me.
  20. FWIW I checked the online archive through Cuy PL and it must be for press tomorrow. Reminder that you can get free access to not only PD but also Crain's through the libraries. Edit: Crain's has free online access to library subscribers, PD is the current day publication but search it here: https://cuyahogalibrary.org/Research/Resources.aspx
  21. They're still there, but covered (most likely for the concert crowds). They actually redid them a month or so ago during this whole revamp of the space.
  22. Auntie Anne's is now a BAR haha Also, even though storefronts are still empty (for now), Bedrock really has taken ownership of TC these past few weeks. There's signage out front now, wayfinding inside, and now some serious fall decorations. Hopefully they keep up with pouring money and energy into the space because it really looks nice!
  23. I'll just add, the framing is up for the electric sign board out front, it's going to be atrocious. Take the wins with the losses haha
