Exactly what Cleveland doesn't need at a time like this. Our city and it's people deserve a visionary leader with big ideas and someone who can sell us on a national stage, not someone who claims it's too hard to change or think beyond the excuse of bureaucracy.

    1) He offered real insight into how the city works by claiming change is "hard" if you want to count words, count how many times Kelley said something was hard (in a condescending tone). Instead of offering to analyze or change processes he just said it was hard and that Bibb had no idea how hard it was. I don't want a leader who's going to claim things are hard and refuse to acknowledge why they may be hard (or that they might be part of the process in making them overly difficult). City processes need reviewed and changed, I don't want someone saying it's too hard to change things (that's the insight he offered). Kelley literally has years of experience on council and instead of being humble, acknowledging fault, or pledging to change things he just reiterated reasons why I won't be voting for him. 2) 3) I think most people in this thread did listen to the debate and did REALLY listen to "what is being said" and came to a completely different conclusion from yours- par for the course, I guess. Visionary leadership is needed in city and county (look at what's been done in Pittsburgh/Allegheny County for an example), Kelley and Budish would be a pairing that only the political dinos would love.

Thanks for the reminder. Was able to catch it on the radio. I've tweeted about it but I really don't think KK did himself many favors with his tone and condescending nature. I think Bibb did a good job of pushing back when his experience was questioned- I also enjoyed his quip about everyone who has endorsed him "they think I know something about govt" - I wish I was able to see KKs reaction bc that had to cut. I was listening as a Bibb voter but I'm looking forward to the neutral recap on SOI tomorrow. Regardless of my support for JB I really don't think KK did much to bring in voters to his camp. Talking about the referendum, it seems like he's just going to shore up existing support in the "cop" neighborhoods, not new supporters. It's been a long day so sorry if this doesn't make sense.
  4. lol is it too dramatic to move this to abandoned projects? Sounds like it's going to be a long while before NuCLEus is anything more than a sign on E.4 and Huron.
  5. Kind of figured. The former City Year space is also open, I wonder if it could make for a combined space.

Was texting a friend earlier, obv we still have an election but the Kelley camp must be absolutely shook by the support Bibb has garnered. Kelley seemingly has a lot going for him, recognition, money, connections and then PD and Crains both go against him. Again, still need to see the election pan out but wow.

He's already endorsed some councilppl so this'll be interesting. I've seen photos of Sherrod and Connie with JB previously fwiw.

    How was the Bibb fundraiser?

Lol did you just describe kelley? Empty platitudes and inaction sure scream Kelley's tenure on council.

Jealous of all of yinz getting together - I'm headed out of town otherwise I'd be there too! Be sure to post some notes up in here. Really seems like it'll be a great event.
  12. I've got to say the planters look fantastic outside of *The* May.
  13. With a new mayor coming in, I was thinking about putting together that app I was talking about a year or so ago, to take photos of issue spots (trees, lights, etc.), kind of a UO 311 App. It would be based on the same stuff the city has full access to (Esri) so they could easily rip and replicate if we made enough of a splash. Also, awnings are back up at the old Ragin Cajun/Tilted Kilt/Panini's on Prospect/Ontario
  14. Tower City getting ready for Bone Thugs, etc. The fountain redo makes a bit more sense now too, the spigots(?) are low enough that they can put a cover over it now - hopefully a sign of more events.
  15. Oh man, that's frustrating. Is The Bike Rack too far/annoying of a walk for you? Looks like a bunch of bike racks around the Medical Mart, but to my next point not many cameras on my streetview perusing. Otherwise I'd pick somewhere outside that has a camera overhead/valet nearby. Also I'm sure you're already doing this, but buy a good U Lock and a cable. U Lock the back triangle and get the cable through your front wheel. It seems a bit excessive but if someone wants bike stuff they'll go out of their way to take it. I lost a bike to a crappy cable lock back in the day, very sensitive to this haha. I'd also post on twitter about this if you haven't already.
  16. The saga of that atlas (thx @Boomerang_Brian for the heads up): Some really neat CLE materials. Here's a couple chamber of commerce photos of the BP Bldg and some promo stuff from Gateway.
  17. Just sent ya a DM, UO is awesome!
  18. Lakewood, https://www.estatesales.net/OH/Lakewood/44107/3036192. Lots of Cleveland history books. I doubt it'll be there by the time I get over that way, but please don't take that County Atlas if ya do go :)
  19. Not a photo, but was perusing an estate sales' photos and came across this gem of a newspaper. Going to try and leave work early, there's some good Cleveland stuff at this one 👀

  21. Two things, first, this sounds bad - RTA shut down everything at TC today: And second, I've started taking the bus because of a bike crash (I'm good, broken collarbone but I'll live lol) and the 53 is now sporting hard blue seats - is this a change across the system? I'd imagine it's a covid (and cost saving measure) vs having the fabric covers.
  22. Early bird parking in there is 5 bucks, kind of crazy that a lot of garages are so cheap in a downtown. My buildings garage is 8-9 on non day game days. It's wild. I think some rocket mortgage folks park in this garage too, there was a shuttle bus back when I did park there. I wouldn't be surprised if DG had a deal with the city for that too. Also, too bad for the office up top that overlooks the park!
  23. @KJPprops for posting on the architecture page and responding lol you have more willpower than I.
