  1. But my $5 parking! Lol This would be awesome. I stopped in STL on a drive and really loved their ballpark village area, it wasn't baseball season and it was kicking. Knocking down at least a piece of that would make that E7 and Bolivar L a lot less of a deadzone.
  2. So a pipe bomb like you promised yesterday, nice! lol

  4. Sooo after last night's last second vote - any thoughts on how things will shake out? The rationale I've seen online has been shaky at best. Seems like we've gone backwards despite the referendum.

I'll admit I only heard two concession speeches (courtesy of After Jackson) - and if I'm not mistaken both Reed and Dennis congratulated JB and nothing on Kelley. Might mean nothing, might mean something, who knows.

Thanks @LlamaLawyerfor the work you put in. Also s/o to @NorthShore647for the cartographic work. I'm sure the Exner maps are in that cle dot com article but here's some screenshots showing Bibb/Kelley votes by precinct. It seems like a lot of candidates respect JB and I wouldn't be surprised if they endorsed him - but like it's been pointed out above, voters aren't a 1:1 with a different candidate. Still, not looking great for KK on the east side.
  7. This has been a weird press conference, not worth this crazy pomp and circumstance that they've put into it but that's my cynical take. Really not a fan of a lame duck mayor and administration entering into LONG-term plans. Lol @KJP getting the higher quality image- touche :)
  8. Pretty sure Romona Robinson is a robot (and Frank Jackson is still sleeping). .....Phase II?

Absolutely, it's a terrible ward and he got the short end of the stick no doubt. I honestly had no idea your part of Tremont was in 12 until I was talking with Rebecca one day. Oh yeah, and it has some Brooklyn Centre too! If only there were a technology that could help analyze things spatially and figure out that it was a terrible ward map before implementing it 🧐

She's put in a ton of work and honestly I didn't think she had as much of a chance but these results tell a different story. I think Tony is a good person, for Slavic Village. It seems like he's completely neglected the other parts of his ward (Old Brooklyn, Tremont). Prior to election season, I'd only see him around OB when it's a ribbon cutting or something where photos are taken. In the past couple months I've seen him focus more on (high turnout) OB but it might be too late.

Really excited to see how tight the primary was between Rebecca Maurer and Anthony Brancatelli in Ward 12 (Slavic Village/Eastern Old Brooklyn). This will be a good race in the fall.

Really bummed I can't find the graffitti photo from his 'development site' on 25 and Detroit lol. Hopefully his days of parking for free on Public Square will be numbered!

Or maybe people are capable of critical thinking, evaluated all candidates, and found Bibb to be the best choice for the city. This idea of people being duped is a copout, I think people are capable to think for themselves and don't want a retread of city leadership, especially someone who's been on council and part of the city machine for the past decade. Kelley claims his time on council as a strength when many people (myself included) find it to be a flaw. He's been council prez and a rubber stamp through this whole mess of a Jackson administration - reactive and not an inkling of proactive - reacting based on investigative reporting and frankly I don't want that type of person to lead the city. Look at the people endorsing Justin, they aren't just some schmucks off the street- they're smart people who know what they're doing in their respective industries. Seriously, this "duped" and "Kool-Aid" rhetoric is pretty dumb considering his base. Maybe you need to read this thread (from the head! of Ohio City's CDC) to understand why people are so energized by Justin.

With the likely Bibb/Kelley matchup it's going to be fun getting all these PAC mailers! Can't wait! ...not I wouldn't put it past Dennis! to launch a write in campaign. I'd imagine that'd pull votes from Kelley if D were to be that selfish.
  15. This meeting has been very frustrating to watch and has made me a lot more pessimistic than I was when I turned this on. The way things have been pushed along I'm pretty convinced that SHW/PC is going to placate the committees with updated schematics but will end up opting for the original design and nobody will bat an eye.
  16. Too busy getting cut off by said white/grey hairs. Frustrating how pompous some of these people are. ...But I don't want to drag this too far off topic
  17. They claim there'll be company programming going on during the day in the center and it won't be possible, due to security concerns, to have the building open to the public. They make it sound like it'll be open to official meetings (and presumably rentals) afterhours.
  18. I'll admit I don't watch or attend these meetings but it's shocking how the chair is trying to move things along so fast. "We're 20 minutes in and we need to move on, make your comment quick" this is arguably one of the largest projects in the last 20-30 years, I think they can stay late and get through all their comments and concerns.
  19. In lieu of the attachments/document being posted, here are a handful of screenshots:
  20. Just turned it on, there's a lot of renderings coming through. Hopefully someone can get the hard copies of this presentation. Bummed about public access - it's been discussed ad nauseum in here, but that lobby really should be open. Seems like it won't change, but I sure hope it does. Seems like there's been some pushback about the size of the retail spaces, just mentioned: 2600 Sq ft total of retail- 9'-9.6' ceiling height in retail spaces.

I'd imagine this will be pretty likely. I haven't been over in that ward too much as of late but seems like he had the (yardsign) support not to mention how close the election was last time around. Not saying Basheer is perfect but he really should've stuck with his council seat. Then again, we'll see how the mayoral race ends up. It really seems Basheer's lost a ton of steam within the past month or so.
  22. Wow ground floor retail, huh? That's awesome. This neck of the woods is so dead!
  23. So this might not be the correct thread but walking to the bus I looked up above winking lizard and city year looks all but abandoned in their office space. I don't know the ins and outs of this building but could it be a sign of some development? I'm probably reading too far into this. Up until now I assumed that WL kept their lease on the space in anticipation of a better business climate.
