Wow what a great thread. As an outsider learning the ins and outs, it's frustrating how Cleveland and NEO politics are so locked down and gate kept to certain families or pedigrees of politicians. Politicians wonder why the region is lacking and refuse to look in the mirror while also considering outsiders (and outside opinions) a threat. This problem isn't only on the city - but this race and rhetoric surrounding it are a perfect example of what's so frustrating about being a millenial transplant in NEO.

DiBello can say whatever he wants, he's also raised like $4,000 and has zero name recognition to most folks. I agree with some of his points but at this point he's far from a contender, honestly I'm surprised he's stuck in this for so long.
  3. Nothing huge but looks like they completely redid the fountain (concrete in there looks new) and they've put the stage up at the bottom of the stairs - is something going on this weekend? Or getting ready for some candidate's watch party? Also redoing electrical (I'm guessing) in the area where Chick Fil A stand usually is (and same goes for the opposite side in the same spot). The work carts have BEDROCK AVENUE on them so seems like an internal job?
  4. Some exterior updates from today

I'd love to see the source of this. Not being a jerk, just really want to see the source/video/audio.

  8. Cleveland Schools were not carved out in this land swap. It's small in the large scheme of things but the school still receives these tax dollars.
  9. See, I'm not crazy haha. I believe Daves and (according to the twitter thread) Souper are both going to the Standard storefronts.
  10. Do these closures (specifically the most recent ones - Daves CS and Souper Mkt.) have anything to do with new building owners(?, sorry if I'm making that up..)
  11. lol whoops, I'll get that updated. I think that's on me.

Chris Royane Stepping Down as President of University Circle Inc. to Campaign For Cuyahoga County Executive https://www.cleveland.com/news/2021/08/chris-ronayne-stepping-down-as-president-of-university-circle-inc-to-campaign-for-cuyahoga-county-executive.html He'll be stepping down Oct. 1. The article gives some of his platform, obviously very broad at this point but nice to see.
  13. From today's bike: They're also not skimping on security camera coverage of the site haha
  14. Was biking around here today and couldn't help but stop.

Thank you- we may disagree on some things but I do appreciate you taking the time and sharing your perspective.

This. We need to move beyond the woe is Cleveland narrative. Our sister cities are lightyear's ahead of us and there's no reason we can't inch towards their levels of competence and boosterism. Bill Peduto isn't the best or most capable mayor out there but you can't say he didn't help transform Pittsburgh into what it is today. I just want 21st century city leadership, not something stuck in 1988.

🥱 So any new polling or anything out there? I voted on the first day BOE was open and it was very quiet. Basheer made a cameo with his folks and there were also some Reed folks hanging out.
  21. This is where the CashStop used to be at 655 Prospect. They've been working on the interior for a while now.
  22. Biking into town the other day noticed that there's a fresh tag above the awning (lol) but also all the windows were open - not sure if means something or if people were just messing around but eh, the windows being open is more action than I've seen here in a long time.
  23. Fencing is up (taken Sunday), this happened very very recently.
  24. Walking through this side of the sidewalk for the first time in a long time I hope the storefronts fill out- otherwise it's still a dead zone (albeit it doesn't smell like mildew anymore haha) to pedestrians. Cafe with chairs, benches, planters, something.
