  1. I've said it upthread, but the Recorders Office and Map Room have been extremely backed up throughout the pandemic. It's not my department, but we definitely feel the squeeze of their issues in ours. I doubt another plat will come through for GIS to work on (judging by the linework in there currently), at this point it's just scanning deed and data entry on the above side of the house. When property ownership makes its way through the channels and into the Fiscal Database the updated property characteristics will be visible in the county's viewers (myplace, full map, etc.) after midnight of the transfer. All that said, from my understanding they aren't that backed up to the point that a transfer will take months to happen or something. I think this one sits squarely on the owner.
  2. I found their (NIMBY's) change.org petition. I can't get over some of the arguments that they've made and shots that they're firing. I'd venture to bet most of the people who signed the petition don't live in the city let alone the county. So frustrating reading through when their energy could be focused on actual causes throughout the city that they apparently care about.
  3. From a couple different angles - one from their new parking deck, and the other from the old Deaconess Hospital (Metro Rehab/Old Brooklyn) parking deck
  4. Only laugh reacting bc I know how the admin and their folks prob would respond lol
  5. Seriously, go to the county GIS site (😉), zoom into BP and select the aerial basemap and use the slider to see the evolution of the site. I wonder if this level and pace of development would've happened if the Metroparks hadn't taken over control of Edgewater.
  6. No, I'm not. Below is what I'm advocating for (in addition to connected networks), the midway and towpath are suped up versions of a super basic concept. We don't need to spend a bajillion dollars for bike infrastructure and build pie in the sky things, we just need a city who knows what they're doing. Cycletracks and purely bike paths are NOT protected/buffered bike lanes or a connected network (what I'm advocating for). Below is Cleveland's bike network (from NOACA, dark blue are bike lanes, light blue are sharrows) and below that is Pittsburgh's (anytime they redo a road, they're pretty much always adding bike lanes). PS- Sharrows are absolute trash and not even worth mapping.
  7. All this talk got me curious, here's one of the Maple Heights Transit beauties: And a NOMBL/RTA Bus
  8. I'm a skeptic that the city and it's partners can actually build out a midway, and frankly I think money is better spent elsewhere at the moment. We need protected bikeways across the city and if we only go with a 'concept' I have a feeling public sentiment is going to be to trash the thing, especially when it'll just dump people off past 55. The city's network is growing but it's piecemeal and without vision, for instance I ride from Old Brooklyn into the city for work and the only bike lane I hit is on Broadview. Sure, I could take the towpath in but that adds 1-2 miles that I'm not willing to take on. I was just in Pittsburgh this past weekend and a huge proportion of streets are connected by a network (also wayfinding is a thing!). I think the Midway can coexist with other projects, but the city needs to focus on great bike infrastructure for the most people and that's going to involve removing lanes and turning them into bike lanes, adding protective elements (yo frank, move those jersey barriers to edges of bike lanes!), and a vision that the current mayor and his traffic engineer just don't have (see W.65 issues). Hopefully a new mayor brings in the right people to get the Midway moving while also recognizing the city is trash for alternative transpo. I've said it in other parts of the forum, but if you want people to bike, you need them to feel safe and frankly I don't feel comfortable riding with anyone who isn't a seasoned rider anywhere but the towpath.
  9. I know it's dumb to ask (if it's quiet that's usually a sign) but being back in the office I walked past the old spaghetti site on 9th, any word on that apt project?
  10. For once I get to give you a 'Thanks' reaction, great pics!
  11. Holy crap, I missed the opportunity to call it the Cleveland Foundation foundation, ope.
  12. Cleveland Foundation coming along RIP Terdolph Park
  13. ....is that comic sans? lol or a CS brother? Thanks for posting @NorthShore647
  14. Looks like it was a 'grilling accident' https://fox8.com/news/one-injured-during-fire-in-clevelands-battery-park-area/

I think it must be where one of his relatives lives - another Cle City Vehicle pulled in when I was riding away. I can't believe he was able to get away with crap like this as long as he did.

I had to take a pic of this when I came across it on my ride the other day, I was actually so excited I turned around and grabbed the pic lol
  17. ...that would fall under transit infrastructure IMO, but also if the Brook Park station is built then that's where folks that need to park could park too. Parking garages are so expensive that it'd sure be nice to focus our dollars on other more important things.
  18. You've glossed over my entire point - we're sending tax dollars out of the city and county on the regular by spending exorbitant amounts of tax dollars on expanding freeways so that people can move further and further away while maintaining their same 30 minute-ish commute. Tremont is doing just fine and it's hellish to park there on the weekends, same goes for OC or other hot Cleveland neighborhoods. There's no reason why we can't narrow down nearly every one of our downtown streets so that bike/ped/transit move flawlessly through downtown. It's super easy to drive around downtown now with a car and frankly it shouldn't be. Adding things that make a city more lively (dedicated bike lanes, outdoor seating in underused ROWs, dedicated bus lanes, etc.) has a much higher ROI than building more parking, more vehicle lanes, etc.. Please reread my entire post before cherrypicking one statement. And since this is Tower City thread, again, parking is barely close to full in non-pandemic times, the last thing downtown needs is more parking.
  19. Sure, certain neighborhoods within the city (fringe neighborhoods, more car centric spots, etc.) should acquiesce to parking desires, but you can still park in the city center for <$10 a day and that's a real problem, the price doesn't reflect the true costs and the city is suffering as a result. Go to Pittsburgh, their downtown is activated, they've taken over TONS of miles downtown for bike lanes and it's flourishing (and it's hella car centric of a city). If folks want their autocentric suburbs, let them hang out there, but don't bring down the city center with those car centric desires - they chose to live in that situation, downtown dwellers chose to live in theirs. I don't expect to park for cheap/free in most cities and we're spoiled. We need to eliminate car lanes, parking, etc., and you'll see more people out and about. To Tower City, whatever, if they want to build a garage go for it, but I want ZERO tax dollars going towards it, it's time for our tax dollars to go to bike/ped/transit infra. Again, if these folks want Parma/Solon then they can hang out there. Folks would take our transit more if things felt nice, clean, and new. Instead we're expanding interchanges further and further from the city center - our population isn't going up (or really, down) and yet, we keep building up our infrastructure (271?!) so that we can send tax dollars outside of the county. I agree with what you want, I just think we need to round a corner in our collective thinking. To parking at TC, prior to the pandemic I'd grab lunch in the food court and rarely is their existing parking full or even close to it.
  20. If there's a reason to go down towards the stadium area then people will do it. I guarantee that if there's attractions/life down there then it won't be an issue - I don't see this being built for the stadium at all. That said, the connections to down there are absolute trash right now, I feel bad for tourists (and everyday folk!) walking up E. 9 from the Rock Hall/Science Center, present day it's god awful (and folks do that crap trek in all weather!). It's like half the people that live and work here don't realize what an asset we have in the lake because it's been avoided/forgotten for so long, time to build EVERY connection to it.
  21. And in that vein, it'd have to be a mix of office/retail anyways. I know it's a long ways out if it came to light, but I can't imagine Bedrock likes sitting on empty space.
  22. Honestly blockland not happening could be the best thing that happened to this place thinking forward to the Amtrak potential. I'm totally in the dark with retail/office space financials, but in the long run would Bedrock make more money with a blockland type office/any office space or by reinventing the retail in there? They're out to make money afterall, and well, not renewing leases and having spots close can't be great for that (unless rents are way below market currently?). I'm spitballing and again, not my strong suit, but 🤷‍♂️
  23. Innnteresting, were you able to see any progress on the new buildings going in? Haven't been down there in a hot minute. Also, I know it's not FEB, but silly as it is MGK's coffee shop is wildly busy with folks on the weekends (teens and begrudging dads lol), but seriously, it's cool to see actual foot traffic down there. Looking forward to the area continuing to grow. Per your last part, the county is bringing back remaining employees 3x a week for the rest of May and FT come June. It's not a ton of folks, but still, things are going to be back to normal soon enough.

lol hear hear btw, thanks for your nuanced response above, I appreciate your views/insight into Bibb and other folks
  25. Not my OC, but BG repainted the bldg after eff BG was all over it previously, and well, the text made it back lol. This building is on a one way trip to being torn down so no sense into reading into it further.
