  1. The bus ride is LOUD The repair of surfaces always confounds me - we patch concrete with asphalt, and when we do patch concrete with concrete we somehow find a mix that shatters after two weeks.
  2. Cool graphic, bring on the Lake Erie (and allegheny river) rivalries.
  3. 4. Interesting tidbit in this - Opportunity Corridor will be now maintained by city, not state https://signalcleveland.org/78000-cleveland-households-using-in-recycling-program/ I hope this is only for the trees and bike path not the road surface, otherwise it's really awesome that the cycle of building new roads while we can't maintain our current roads continues. I wonder how funding shakes out regarding maintaining the road surface down the line...
  5. To borrow the 'outside agitators' rhetoric from the church festival issues earlier this year...another person arrested another person not from Cleveland. https://www.cleveland.com/crime/2024/10/port-clinton-woman-arrested-accused-of-promoting-cleveland-street-takeover.html
  6. Seems like a great idea to me but I wonder how it'd work with ODOT. I'd imagine with space constraints it'd have to be a zig-zag/spiral up to get above the road vs a straight run over the intersection like the towpath has and it'd have to be pretty high w/the interstate entrance right there. It's kind of giving into cars, but at the same time I doubt ODOT will do anything meaningful to make the area safer for pedestrians.
  7. I'm being a hater, but having biked across L-C bridge almost daily for 7+ years the intersection at Ontario and Carnegie is going to be a HUGE barrier to overcome. You're dealing with cars speeding to get somewhere in like 7 directions. The traffic patterns in this area are very problematic. Also I really don't think people will want to take the train from downtown to the new stadium on a non-game night, as I said before, there's a lot of empty storefront/restaurant space in the areas that border Gateway already.
  8. If ODOT/metroparks can figure out a way to care about pedestrians in the area, there's potential for a really nice integration with the rise project/bike path and downtown core. Not saying it'd bring a ton of additional foot traffic but it should be a lot more than what goes by there currently. Unless there's residential over there I'm curious what kind of retail or restaurants can survive on non game days (lots free-ish parking probably wouldn't hurt). The fact winking lizard, parlay/paninis and other spots in the downtown core haven't survived even with their proximity to the q and jake is concerning.
  9. In one of the cleveland historical groups that's featured a lot of 'go tribe/go indians/wahoo memes' lately, a lot of people that probably haven't stepped in the city in 40 years are clamoring on about how unsafe downtown is (you'll get held at gunpoint leaving the game!!!), how expensive current parking is (assuming? jimmy will allow people to park for free), how the cavs are going to eventually move out to BP (with no regard to any of the recent developments), how the new stadium is going to bring conventions (huh?), how it's only ten feet from the city line, etc. etc. Someone out there is cooking up a lot of good lies, kudos to getting people to believe them.
  10. Hey now Sherwin Williams disapproves of using his nickname for advertising... Lol to anyone new, I found sher on the side of the shw build last summer.
  11. The Mayor of BP was on 92.3 this morning. He said it was 'on the 50 yard line'. I couldn't find the recording but he was on around 8:15A or so. He seems like a pretty reasonable person who's been thrown into this mess. Very careful with his words.
  12. Nobody on Urban Ohio would want to live there but I'm sure there's plenty of people in the area that would be okay with it. Shoot, there's condos at Charlotte Motor Speedway. I think we get in our echo chamber a bit too much on here at times, not everyone is an urbanist, and if jimmy makes it into J-World I'm sure the attraction will be there. Maybe not in 1-2 years, but longer term it could turn into something.
  13. Hey @KJP fantastic reporting as always.
  14. The Stokes bros could use another thing named after them.
  15. Also the road/infrastructure improvements around there haven't helped one bit.
  16. The only downside I see is that the windows will be covered, but that's minor compared to how long these have been sitting vacant.
  17. Jail Site Plan discussion starts about here: Four stories seems to be the goal/max height for the entire complex.
  18. If you look closer Garrett A. Morgan is up front on the boat - depends on what radio channel you're on for the name hah. It's a pretty awesome looking piece of machinery either way!
  19. on a MUCH lighter note, here's a couple pics of Marine 21 from this weekend, ties into the safety part of this forum: Re: Breakins - my friend left their car unlocked in Detroit Shoreway after getting a window broken multiple times w/nothing visible, unfortunately they've started doing the same on the near east side after two broken windows over there. The victim at (I'm assuming) Planet Fitness is in for a rude awakening if she's expecting any updates from CPD w/stolen property, especially something of such low value, all things considered.
  20. Had a tourist in your hometown day on Sunday and snapped a few pics Note to self, Bar32 is closed on Sunday/Monday: From the RV's/Jimmy's Hooverville at the stadium. In between the longer walk between RRHOF and Mather tour- a bit tougher to see, but SHW and Hilton juxtaposition
  21. They've been working in here the past week and some, this is from this morning:
  22. The stadium's already falling apart (apparently) the last thing it needs is to be bombed.
  23. What's the playoffs window they're referencing?
  24. If this is the case, I'd expect a lot more chatter about public funding. Yes, it's cheaper than an NFL stadium, but it's not like the city or county are flush with cash to put forward the necessary funds. Probably safe to assume that this would extend Gateway, which, if anyone's been following their financials, aren't in any position to put money forward, either.
