Snapped this last night as I was closing up. It's crazy how rapid things start moving once the garden is ready to go... PS- if you want to work on your green thumb we still do have some spots left!
  2. Here's to hoping, thanks for the Intel...that's a lot of moolah! If it's accurate I can't see the state, county, or city being as generous as they once were when this was first announced... Again, thanks for keeping your pulse on this!!
  3. Pretty much it's wild wild west from the point where the bridge starts/ends- going west (Expressway Ends in X miles, aka at bridge end), and going East - 55MPH as soon as elevation starts going up towards the bridge...
  4. It makes for a cool gateway into the city from the west (especially if you're a passenger on one of the 55's early morning!), and is a cool looking bridge BUT if it were to go away my only regret would be not riding my bike across it haha
  5. Does someone need to do a wellness check on @KJP? Lol hopefully the hold on the article is because there's too many projects to even try and stay organized... Jk, @KJP take your time, thanks for being the news breaker of NEO development
  6. Rumor has it, bridge to Canada with parallel ski lift/gondola. Watch out Morpeth! Tons of Clevelanders headed your way.
  7. Emerald Alliance XI coming along - I know I didn't get the full building/odd angle but I HAD to get Sal's in there!
  8. But, BUT not enough parking! /sarcasm
  9. Without posting 300 pics. Here's my thread from today's protest
  10. Planters are tricky if not maintained. When I lived in an iffy neck of the woods in PGH I swear my planter out front of my apt grew chicken bones. It was my fault for putting the planters out there but still, hopefully bedrock keeps on top of them.
  11. Speaking of views. It's kind of like housing developments in the suburbs. Unless you own that bucolic farm field in your back yard there's no guarantee of it staying a field. Same goes for these views. Maybe it's harsh but if existing views are more important than development we're screwed.
  12. Looks like a college dorm. Come-on vocon, y'all are better than this. This is a prime gateway to OC! Also lol at the beautifully paved street in the pic.
  13. ooo you're able to direct link: https://search-proquest-com.eresources.cuyahogalibrary.org/wallstreetjournal/docview/2406797688/10D3316DB42241D3PQ/1?accountid=3355 it'll still prompt for a login but here yinz go. Thanks mu for this
  14. Figured I'd check the site one time before bed, glad I did, this is great! Thanks!
  15. It was A Brown Hoist bldg., but not THE building lol 4059 St Clair if my memory serves me correctly. Looking over the plat maps from way back Brown Hoist had quite the industrial compound there back in the day. Lights were on at night at their old admin building, so as far as I know people were living there haha And I feel ya with the suspension issues lol. Shoot, I can't think of the name of the park but like 46 and S Marginal- I always thought that spot was great w remnants of an old amphitheatre of sorts, there's some good bones for ppl to flow back in over there...
  16. Riding by, I always thought the huge warehouse by the men's shelter would make a great conversion. Looking at google, apparently North Coast Logistics (2323 Lakeside Ave E) is there? Sure doesn't look like it from the outside hah. I used to live over there E40 and St. Clair-ish in an industrial conversion (an old Brown Hoist building) and it's an interesting neck of the woods. It's loud with all of the industrial fans running in the neighborhood and cops don't really show up if you call them because nobody lives in that area (gunshots, car was stolen [but later recovered! lol], etc.- I've also learned that the cat ratings don't really prioritize these things but whatever). BUT I absolutely love Hamilton - if more of these factories/shops move out to the suburbs it'd be a cool neck of the woods with retail and stuff. I think St. Clair in particular is an area that is begging to be activated- tons of storefronts and *for the most part* not too many teardowns. For anyone who's curious about that massive blue/brick Brown Hoist Building: http://www.clevelandareahistory.com/2011/03/brown-hoist-building.html
  17. Part of my GIS work in undergrad was doing a viewshed analysis of wind turbines off of Erie. It's kind of shocking how quickly these wouldn't be visible from land. A tree and or multi story house is more likely to block even an attempt to see the turbines and lake. If you are on the lake there'd be little to no chance you'd see them either. It was a fun and informative project...

Spent the day plotting out the garden...one plow closer to opening day!
  19. If even half of the speeding traffic through Midtown gets rerouted on the 'Opportunity Corridor' (such a cringe name but I digress) it's got some amazing potential. There's some really, really cool houses and buildings in the area- hidden gems! Imagine if you cut a lane from Chester and put in a continuation of the Midway Cycle Track...dreams. Speaking of MidTown (and it's mentioned in the article) but I hope Dunham is done slowing up the Cleveland Foundation's progress towards their new HQ.
  20. Bout to ride my bike down that way I'll snap some pics ? thanks @Larry1962
  21. So the OH Power Siting Board says they can't operate at night during migratory bird season. Is this a valid environmental concern or is this a political ploy veiled in concern for the environment? In my environmental courses I was always told turbines weren't as bad as folks assume- birds eventually change their flight patterns based on objects, and actual bird strikes are pretty low statistically. Typing on my phone but I can post some verification... https://www.cleveland.com/news/2020/05/lake-erie-wind-turbines-approved-but-cant-operate-at-night-which-could-sink-project.html
  22. The location of that inset map really bothers me #GIScommentaryOut ? But this is great news, hopefully it sparks a larger farm in the future

Bringing this thread back to life- I'm on the committee of Ben Franklin Community Garden in Old Brooklyn and had the opportunity to be on the CDC's facebook live today to talk about the garden and whatnot. If you have a green thumb there's still some plot openings!
