  1. They really aren't messing around. Awesome.
  2. I used to work in a brown windowed office in Independence. The only thing I remember is the dreary interior- it could be 75 and blue skies but with the brown windows it looked like a storm was rolling in. Long story short, blue and clear glass might not be sexy/unique as shiny as a colored tower but it lends itself to a good office environment.
  3. idk if digital only is the way to go for a business journal. It seems like offices (well, we'll see after covid) but it seems like physical copies lend themselves well to offices...
  4. Heads up that today the Cleveland City Club is having a forum today on policy priorities going forward in the covid world. Starts at 12:30. From the City Club: "After sheltering in place for nearly two months, Ohioans – and Ohio's economy – are beginning to emerge and prepare for a new reality. The public health and economic crisis brought on by the coronavirus has had dramatic and far-reaching implications. In response, Republicans and Democrats have proposed dozens of bills covering everything from paid family leave to the sales tax that people pay on personal protective equipment to increasing COVID-19 testing and tracing. But the pandemic has cost Ohio's government about $1 billion in lost revenue, resulting in Governor DeWine's announcement of $775 million in budget cuts over the next two months. As Ohio lawmakers return to work for the first time since March 25, what policy responses will be prioritized? Featuring Sen. Nickie J. Antonio, Ohio, District 24 and Sen. Matt Dolan, Ohio, District 23."
  5. I'd honestly rather they spend the money on shifting I90 by the old powerplant than to bury this portion. I'd imagine the state isn't too enthusiastic about the prospect of building another major span in Cle after just wrapping up the innerbelt (and 480 for that matter). But I digress, I've already contributed to a derailing of one forum post I'll quit while I'm behind lol
  6. Since it's being built on a parking lot, why don't we aim for something that will melt all cars that are parked around it? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/20_Fenchurch_Street#Solar_glare_problem
  7. I first started coming to Cle for an ex who lived in LI about 4-5 years ago. Crazy how much has been built in this area in just that short amount of time. I swear every time my family comes to visit there's new builds everywhere around the city and it's probably hard for them to put a finger on what areas they've seen and have been to. I guess I'll have to reintroduce Little Italy to them next visit lol
  8. Thx. Cheaper than clearing and buying land but I can't imagine in the near-future RTA could handle something like that. Probably a duh statement but here's to hoping that someday the statehouse and feds see value in transit. Is it bizarre (or even possible) to try and do a lease w/intent to buy situation? Is this something that's been done in other transit markets that you know of?
  9. @KJP I recall a while back your discussions about CSX wanting to dump some ROW west of the city- how benevolent are they when selling off pieces like this? Is it something that is attractive to another shortline rr or is it a 'sell for whatever we can get for it' situation?
  10. Not surprising but sad that the entire SE portion is demos.
  11. @musky looks like you got a great view and place! My buddy lives in there, his balcony is lake view but ....barely lol (he's above the leasing office) I'll wave to you from the bike path haha

Totally random, but I got a cool box of random stuff from ApeMade - being from Cleveland (and not having kids) there's some children's stuff in there, most notably a 3T YEAH I'M FROM CBUS shirt lol. I'd be happy to send it out to someone on here!
  13. It's been 14 minutes, why haven't you posted yet??!?! lol I kid.
  14. Move-in starts June 18 https://www.linkedin.com/posts/brentzimmerman11_home-activity-6661283286528114688-8h47
  15. Just checked, hopefully they're hedging their bets and have stuff leased but not signed off on. Granted someone able to pay 2500+ in this economy is probably hard to find at the moment. I do kind of giggle at the 500 deposit on a 6000 a month apt lol Some of the floorplates are awesome, others not so much...granted what apartment building/hotel/office in the middle of a downtown has consistently good views/layouts in every unit.
  16. I've argued this point on Reddit when someone was complaining about their commute being held up by a freighter. The state of Ohio just spent 600B on a new innerbelt and are consistently and unnecessarily upgrading all of the highways surrounding the downtown core. There's no reason for this to be a throughfare, there's plenty of other places for single occupancy vehicles to hang out/drive and ODOT makes it very easy (too easy IMO) to get from A to B, the last thing somewhere so close to downtown needs is to acquiesce to vehicles.

  18. Whoa, does that include their lists? Sounds like it. I get print and digital for $48 and that wasn't an intro offer. Let me see what I can dig up. Edit: just checked, you're correct....sorry for doubting (I know their lists cost extra...) ...follow them on LinkedIn and twitter/fb to see when they have their deals.
  19. I got my first year with a killer intro offer but honestly, I just renewed and ~$50ish for a full year really isn't that bad considering what you get on nearly a weekly basis. It'll be nice to have the tandem of Michelle and Stan B., instead of having Stan cover 3ish stories for each issue.
  20. Looks like @mjarboe is joining Crains. Awesome news:

I grew up in NY and not having a deposit system is so dumb. Sure, you're just getting your money back but shoot, I've bought cases of beer with my return money, so worth it.

Without degrading quality for here, here's some photos from tonight. I'll update this with photos (not twitter) when it isn't time for bed and I have time to mess around with them:
  23. So I've been meaning to take a pic from this vantage point for a while. I think a panorama during the day would be pretty great from the same spot (speaking of, is there a construction cam??).
  24. Was riding my bike around town (happy bike month!) and also happened to get a tripod/had that with me and did a long exposure about two seconds before it started to pour. Long story short, here's another photo. (ps @MayDay are we still at threat of a lockdown? hah jokes aside, hope you're well!)
  25. Looks like they have a camera on wsm. Video of teardown and beginning of pilings. It also looks like in the comments 5000sq ft is leased? Idk I'm not as savvy with that stuff hah https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/activity:6662340458682953729
