Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I'm with you in the unnecessary part, but we american's are lazy people- I want to say most people don't want to walk over .25 miles, and will drive if it's like a half mile or more (I'll see if I can dig up a source, I'm paraphrasing from undergrad work), but from point to point it's about .6 miles so, yeah, dumb but I get it.

Cleveland: Downtown: John Hartness Brown Buildings / Euclid Grand
Thanks for your insight! If you have any old photos of your perch at the bank or here I'm sure folks would love to see them!!

Wow even that little bit looks amazing, the 925 is really going to stick out once these are all polished.

Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
Twitter is a sad place today, lots of folks signing off from the PD, but I love this attitude!

Cleveland: Downtown: May Company Building
Just for the heck of it, here's streetview from 2017. Once they wrap up the rear of the building the transformation will be even more apparent.

Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
You really can't beat the convenience of online music streaming but I'm also a fan of buying merch and things like vinyl because as @Cleburger said, it's kind of an extension of a band. In that same vein, once Advance fired PD's layout/designing staff the paper lost a lot of it's character and reflection of what made it ours, reporters getting fired will further destroy what's unique to Cleveland. My gf's dad made a good point (surmising the physical paper won't last much longer), saying it'll be weird getting most of our news from the coasts. Ironically(?) I almost dumped my Sunday NYT for Sunday PD then they dropped the NYT wire (this was two plus years ago...), now with staff getting fired I have no reason to support Advance Media (with apologies to the talented reporters left at cle.com/PD). I wish there were another way to support them and not Advance.

I know I'm an outlier but 30 yo here, and I love getting a physical paper and magazines. It just ain't the same to read news online. But again, I'm in the minority ?.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
Even if it won't be condos right off the bat, will they still use condo materials for the structural portions? Eg thicker drywall, more insulation, etc?

Cleveland: Downtown: May Company Building
I'm so happy this building survived, I wonder how close it was to being sacrificed? I too have PTSD- from people using nooks and crannies around the building as their urinal haha

Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
Not quite the same, but I wonder if Ideastream could handle/afford the lift of supporting a large newsroom a la Gothamist and WNYC. I would really hate to lose these reporters, photographers and editors to other cities.

Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail
I'm not sure if they're going to resurface everything or whatnot, but CSX has been working down at the crossing on Jennings Rd. for the past week and some. Looks like they're installing new cross-arms, but here's to hoping that they hold up to their end of the deal and actually finish the portion of the trail that crosses the tracks! Just tweeted at Canalway Partners they've been good in the past about questions, hopefully it's finally happening!

Cleveland: Random Development and News
There's a lot less of us working downtown to scurry and get pictures of construction and whatnot, appreciate people that are still getting photos and posting updates! Hope everyone's holding up well! Looking forward to the UO meetup when all's said and done...

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
Nope, I was able to do it through their website - confirmation number and last name and login/cancel the flight, it was super easy surprisingly. They had my wrong email otherwise I assume I would've gotten an email about it sooner, I just saw the news and decided to check out the site. It took maybe 5 minutes.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Centennial (925 Euclid Redevelopment)
Maybe not the right place, but one of the former building engineers shared some history and tidbits about the building in Twitter (click to see the thread)

What is your deal?

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Calling their bluff probably isn't in Cleveland's best interest. In a world of multinational corporations moving around a state, or even a region to save on their tax burdens, hometown company or not, SHW has the incentive and obligation to reward their shareholders not the city- the purchase price of the lots/cost of walking away is chump change when compared to incentive packages that other regions would offer. Cle can't afford to screw this up. After the drama and anticipation of them committing to Cleveland, I'm not too enthusiastic of playing with fire. As @Mendo said (and I'm sure @KJP can confirm...in time) it's not just the HQ, it's all of the related spinoff development that we're talking about.

Cleveland: Random Photos
I've ridden into and around downtown a lot these past couple days and it's very, very strange (but nice for cycling!). I came into the office today and it's just sad/depressing walking around - I'll have to get a video on E4 - businesses that aren't open all have their windows covered, truly a weird sight. It's one thing to be dead after-hours, but a whole other thing when it's during central business hours and in those weird off times.

Cleveland: Random Photos
Sorry to share my twitter feed, but I need to clean up my photos on here (I uploaded some really high res stuff and it's bumping up against my limits, but I digress...). Here's some photos from a bike ride the other day: And one more (just resized), Graffiti HeART

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
? Yes, because there's no small business spinoff from having a major HQ in town. Old man needs to retire.

Parma: Development and News
Okay so not that ICP lol Concerning bike lanes- Parma has some good streets to bike on assuming you're already in the city. Connectivity from Cleveland on almost every road leads A LOT to be desired. I think they should work on/with NOACA, etc. to shore up and connect existing infrastructure. I'd hate to see them take the Cleveland approach that kind of puts bike lanes in weird places with no thinking towards connectivity. Private developers can do their thing though, anything is better than nothing.
