Cleveland: Random Development and News
Driving this further off topic, the owner's ...nephew (I think?) came in about two or so years ago and was the major force for opening on the weekends and some other stuff. I used to go there more often when I was taking the bus and haven't been in in a while, but from what I could see the owner was giving some of the reigns to his relative.

I just changed the settings from cycling to 'other' so hopefully it'll capture sports outside of just cycling. It looks like it picked up your stuff now, @BelievelandD1

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
Similar story (eg. CLE and flight prices)- I grew up in WNY and for my mom, and apparently other folks from my town, it's cheaper to drive to CLE (and park a car, etc.) and fly from here (2.5 hours), versus BUF (1.25 hr drive). It makes sense that Cbus would have that route, but still, I'd think CLE could make a Seattle route profitable relatively easily.

Urban Ohio Strava Group
So Strava is a fitness tracking app, most cyclists use it to track rides and see progress of other folks. I recognize it's not everyone's cup of tea, but honestly, if you're on a group ride, commute, or otherwise it's quite likely they're using strava. I figure it'd be cool to see what type of cycling activity other forumers are up to. The idea was kind of inspired by the meetups we've had in Cleveland, as well as meeting other folks in passing- IMO meetups, strava, etc., can help humanize what's otherwise just a random username. FWIW I'll use it for hikes, runs, XC skiing, etc., but pretty sure this group will only track bike rides. Edit: I also realize calling it an 'extension of UO' was a bit much, if anything it's just cool to see what other forumers are up to. @richNcincy

Hi all, I created a Strava Group for Urban Ohio - https://www.strava.com/clubs/583367/ feel free to join, I think it could be a cool extension of the site. And obligatory, mods feel free to blow this up if it's not kosher.- Cycling Advocacy
Here ya go, not sure how many UO folks are on Strava, but it's a start: https://www.strava.com/clubs/583367/- Cycling Advocacy
Would anyone be interested in joining a UO Strava Club/group if I set one up?- Cleveland: Outlet Mall Proposal for Lakefront

I lived in PIT when they were implementing the Lufthansa flights - those were heavily subsidized despite having Bayer/Covestro there. I'm not 100%, but I feel like most foreign routes outside of MAJOR airports are most likely subsidized in one way or another. Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong.- Cleveland: Outlet Mall Proposal for Lakefront
It's been discussed ad nauseam at this point, but as a fellow millennial I don't want to go/drive to the east or west suburbs I'd rather have something accessible via transit and or my bike. There's something to be said for actually trying on clothes - for instance, Gap sizing between pant styles is drastically different. I'd rather go to a store and try them on instead of playing return roulette. I'd love for local retail mixed with a national brand or two to be in the CBD, but to have access to other national brands would be nice. Sure, outlet clothes aren't necessarily as durable as the flagship store goods, but I'm not about to drive to Aurora or Lodi to get some cheap pants.- Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Thanks for this, shocking but not unexpected about declining ridership, I'd like to look at this on more of a granular level aka what routes saw jumps and losses, but I'd guess that's RTA/NOACA specific information. FWIW I believe they group in the MetroHealth Line (51-A-B-C) with BRT for some reason. Not sure if your stats in the background noted this.- Cleveland International Film Festival

Editing to say it answers some questions, and still leaves questions ?: Answers: TC has 10 cinemas, of which they use 7-8 PHQ will continue regular programming with cooperation from productions. Questions: Daytime showings throughout the week/coexisting with productions (it's not like sets can just be moved out of place, and moved back in right quick) Standby/Lineup Parking I still think not being in a traditional movie theater will cause some issues, especially after being in TC for so long.- Cleveland International Film Festival
How many theaters are at TC? I wonder if there'll be enough capacity in PHQ. It definitely isn't the prettiest site being in TC, but also it lends itself nicely to standby's and lineup situations. My only issue with PHQ capacity really has to do with existing productions, would they put everything on hold for that week? Also, it seems a lot of the people that come to CIFF are of the mentality that "there's no parking!!!" (eg. folks from the suburbs, and arguably the same people that complain about WSM parking, but I digress), and wonder how they'll receive not having parking directly attached a la Tower City Parking (PHQ garage isn't quite as 'convenient' as TC to folks, I'd imagine). Lots of assumptions on my part, and I'm low on caffeine so forgive any snarkiness, just thinking through things. Overall, I think it's a good move and it's not like it's going to be an immediate change, they'll have time to figure things out, I just see some complaints coming for that first year and some. I really think it'll be a boom to Playhouse, not to mention the VIP suite (if you could call it that), won't be stuffed away in a windowless room two floors from the theaters (I'd imagine them renting out Republic or something).- Cleveland: Downtown: May Company Building

Go upthread, plenty of drawings show that it's maybe a quarter/half mile (+/-) from the station. To repeat my point from above, as a city dweller this would be great and would hopefully eliminate the need to drive out to North Olmsted or Beachwood to get clothing, instead being able to travel by transit. Also, if this comes to fruition, they may be crap paying jobs, but at least they're crap paying jobs easily accessible to transit vs the stores in the third ring suburbs.- Cleveland: Downtown: Gateway District: Development and News
Gateway is literally a quarter mile (if that) from E4, City Tap, BWW, Winking Lizard, Panini's, The Clevelander, etc. to say more stuff needs to be built on the site/acting like it's a deadzone is kind of bizarro. I wouldn't be opposed to building on the parking lot off of E9/Eagle, but there's a lot of bigger fish to fry. First Energy on the other hand could be quite the model area (thinking North Shore area around Heinz Field in PGH), but again, bigger fish to fry.- Cleveland: Historic Photos
More of a collection of photos and archival media, but take a look at an application I put together for the county. This lists and shows places that MLK visited in and around the Cleveland area- it has a good collection of photos from his time here as well as some archival video of his speeches and the locations mapped out. It says it in the application, but if you have any media of any sort dealing with Dr. King's visits please get in touch and I'll try and get it in. https://cuyahoga.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapSeries/index.html?appid=6522a0e8180b46adb88711b76e6024eb- Cleveland: Random Development and News
They've put up banners of upcoming major events on the Lorain Carnegie bridge and it got me thinking about cranes and downtown progress being shown on national TV. Browsing around the forum, here's a quick take by year and event (I'm assuming some of my development dates are off, but y'all get the idea): 2021 - NFL Draft - S-W could have some cranes up, possibly City Club Apartments crane, doubtful, but NuCLEus?, East Bank Should be Built Out-ish 2022 - NBA All Star Game - Geis Tower (?), Lumen Phase II, CityBlock (or whatever it is at this point) 2024 - NCAA Women's Final Four - who knows what @KJP has up his sleeve...Thunderbird? I guess all in all, if even half of the things percolating on here come to fruition, it's going to be awesome for Cleveland in the national spotlight.- Brecksville: Sherwin-Williams Research & Development Center
For anyone doing historic research and who doesn't feel like doing full title search a lot of the old Sanborn maps have been georeferenced and digitized, also CPL has all of the old maps digitized (but not georeferenced)- https://www.arcgis.com/apps/View/index.html?appid=ddb0ee6134d64de4adaaa3660308abfd- Brecksville: Sherwin-Williams Research & Development Center
I hate to be so cynical, but tax breaks and/or state/fed remediation? I could see the city, county, and state stepping in to save this, seems like a good chess move on SW's part? - Urban Ohio Strava Group
