Notre-Dame Cathedral Fire
PBS has a great documentary on the subject. Its available free on YouTube. I suggest checking it out. The lengths that the French are going to for the restoration is simply next lever. They are aiming for a summer 24 completion to showcase their masterpiece in time for the summer Olympics.

Cincinnati Southern Railway
Is it just me or are or are others very concerned that if this deal goes thru and we end up selling the RR that a large portion of the sale will be used to fund renovations at Paycor Stadium, GABP, and potentially a new sports arena ? Its certainly not out of the question. I could see someone citing "recreation facilities" as being applicable. "The money can only be used on “the rehabilitation, modernization or replacement of existing streets, bridges, municipal buildings, parks and green spaces, site improvements, recreation facilities, improvements for parking purposes, and any other public facilities owned by Cincinnati.."

University of Cincinnati Bearcats Football Discussion
I think its pretty telling when Louisville fans are mostly OK with him moving on. Bearcat fans are mostly just confused about the hire. Seems very MEHH... Its very hard to move on from Fickell. He did the University and city so well. The University did allocate a very large sum for assistants/ coordinators/ and position coaches. Lets hope we can bring in some top assistants.

Cincinnati: Northside: Development and News
Does anyone have any updates on the large lots on Cherry Street and Hoffner ? At one point they were supposed to be developed by PLK. These spots seemed to be left out of the conversation when all focus turned to the triangle lot on Vandalia. These seems like great spots for some infill.

UrbanCincy
Yeah, that was the website that got me addicted to urbanism and helped me realized how well off Cincinnati is in terms of historic amenities and form. I just kinda assumed all the guys working on the site got super busy with careers and started have families. Its hard to keep up such an endeavor, especially one that really didnt pay all that much.

Dubuque, Iowa
The Mississippi River museum is pretty interesting and large. It took the better part of an afternoon to check it all out.

Dubuque, Iowa
Dubuque is well worth a visit. Especially If you have time to squeeze in Galena too. They were claiming to have more millionaires per capita than any other city in America at one point in time. I didnt check out their claims, but I do remember that tid bit of info. Also,

I am surprised. I was not expecting as nice looking buildings as you captured. Are you ever going to share pix with people in them?

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I really don't understand the Night Club idea. Does this open just for the game and immediately afterwards or is this trying to carve out clubbing space on Friday and Saturday nights when there is no football?

Wheeling - July 2020
One of the best photo threads on the forum to showcase residential architecture. Thanks for sharing with us. Wheeling is just waiting for some substantial revitalization.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I take a lot of visitors around our city. We go from Over The Rhine down to the riverfront. Since the remodel, and the lack of a cut through on Walnut, visiting the square has kinda fell off my tour. I still talk about the fountain and its story from across the street.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
The 5/3rd rebranding on Fountain Square is WAY to heavy handed. 5/3 logo is everywhere. Its distracting and takes away from the civic space experience. I find it off putting and have actually been avoiding FS because it a bit.

Travel Thread
I lived in Switzerland for 2 years before moving back to Cincinnati. Geneva is a very nice but also a very expensive city. I do think if you want to spend the time you have in the country in a city, its a good one to visit. Make sure to check out the city museum called Maison Tavel. I recommend going directly to the top floor to see the model of the city with its original ramparts and walls. You can stare at things for a solid hour. its really neat. Work your way down to learn more about the city. Do not under any circumstances bother to go to CERN. I've taken the tours twice and they use scientists who are not trained to be tour guides. Its the most boring and dull experience. Its a shame because they are doing incredible things there, but they squander it. Also, take a water taxi, they are a cheap way to see the city in a whole new perspective. These boats run a schedule and if you get the daily public transportation pass they are included. If you want to experience the worlds most tame "red light district" take a stroll thru Paquis. Its honestly family friendly during the day and early evening hours. Never been at night time. If its hot, jump in the Rhone. its a better swim spot than the Lac. Go to Jonction for that. For the best view take the trip up to Saleve. It gets kinda crowded for sunset.

Memphis, Tennessee
Thanks for sharing a nice photo tour of Memphis. I need to revisit the city. Those 2-3 story tall brick buildings are sweet !

Greater Cincinnati Metro (SORTA) and TANK News & Discussion
Brad, As always great insight on our regional transit systems. One opportunity I think the city missed out on was having the streetcar platforms act as bus loading platforms as well. The street car enjoys nice stops, and yet most bus boarding zones, outside of Govt Square are pretty pathetic. I just think it would have been nice to consolidate and give bus riders a few more amenities

NFL: General News & Discussion
The Packers are an anomaly when it comes to sports franchises. They are owned by the community of shareholders and i guess technically, a 'non profit'. They wont be moving out of Green Bay, despite it being a small city.

That is fantastic news. I wish them nothing but success !

Cincinnati: Complete Streets, Road Diets, and Traffic Calming
I am so glad the city finally got kinda serious about street calming measures in its urban core. The raised crosswalks are exactly what was needed. There are so many more neighborhoods that would benefit from the side walk bump outs, raised crossings, and streeteries. Hopefully, we dont just do OTR and call it "mission accomplished"

Cincinnati: College Hill / Mt. Airy: Development and News
Did district 5 figure out where they are going to relocate to ? permit center on Central Parkway ? (Merge with D1) Various spots in Northside and College Hill were among the finalists iirc.
