  1. Cleveland Clinic link with Columbia would be formidable, but would damage CWRU A Cleveland Clinic alliance with Columbia University would be formidable, but it would damage CWRU Thursday, September 06, 2007 Changing partners? A Cleveland Clinic alliance with Columbia University would be formidable, but it would damage CWRU When the Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University announced in May 2002 that they would open a specialty medical school to train clinical researchers, the hosannas echoed from University Circle to the farthest exurbs. The university, it was hoped, would be the harness that would finally get Northeast Ohio's medical powerhouses pulling together. A real, working partnership - at least on some matters - would strengthen this region's claim as a medical mecca. Great minds and new research dollars would flow in, and stay. Allied industries - medical devices, nanotechnology, materials science - would follow and grow. The school's graduates would burnish the names of all three institutions - the Clinic, CWRU and University Hospitals. more at: http://www.cleveland.com
  2. I think it is a great idea too.
  3. There you go. Thanks. Your the winner for tonight.
  4. I walked by there tonight (as promised). Whatever is going on there, I'm sure its not a pizza joint. It looks like it will be fairly large. I asked a couple of people at the Cleveland Foundation and they did not know either.
  5. There should be a partnership between Continental and RTA. Convert ground miles to air miles or cash in air miles for bus passes.
  6. Waiting for somebody like you to give $300,000 to finish the roof. It is ready and waiting.

Interesting this comes out today. Reuters:
  8. I'll check it out this afternoon. I will be in the Hannah for a meeting.
  9. That's what I'm talking about!
  10. cleveland.com AP:
  11. I figures it was used for students. KSU had a large satellite base in other parts of NEO. Why not create some sort of bus/shuttle service with those campuses?
  12. Is it? What do you get besides a small discount? Just me being ignorant.
  13. This just gave me a thought. A brief one, but a thought nonetheless. Airlines have been attracting passengers for years with their frequent flier/miles programs (as ill conceived as some of them are). Has GCRTA, or any transit agency ever given thought to this type of program that could partner with local and national businesses (even airlines)? Again, just a random thought.
  14. I did not know there was a Portage County RTA. Interesting.
  15. Glad you are here, Jerry. We look forward to hearing your input.

The Plain Dealer: On the radio yesterday they were playing a quote from Voinovich over and over. He told Jackson this must mean as much to the mayor as the announcement to locate BP America World Headquarters in Cleveland meant to Voinovich. Sounded like a slap in the face to me.
  17. There are photos on WTAM. Looks like it is mostly water damage. http://www.wtam.com/cc-common/news/sections/newsarticle.html?feed=122520&article=2595123

  19. Clinic explores linking medical school with Columbia U., not Case Medical school may switch affiliation from Case Wednesday, September 05, 2007 Regina McEnery Plain Dealer Reporter Three years after welcoming its first class, the Cleveland Clinic is negotiating to switch the academic affiliation of its Lerner College of Medicine from Case Western Reserve University to Columbia University. Officials from the Clinic and the two universities declined to comment Tuesday on the possible switch. But sources told The Plain Dealer that Columbia officials plan to visit the city soon and that an announcement christening the new arrangement is a possibility. If so, the move is sure to leave behind bruised feelings at Case, which partnered with the Clinic to create the unique training program for physician-scientists, then quickly saw its standing in the highly competitive federal research arena rise... http://www.cleveland.com/medical/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/news/118898339842920.xml&coll=2
  20. Merwin Avenue, the street it is on, use to connect directly to Old River Road. This took you all the way to Fagans (before that part was one way).
  21. There's also a Marcs on Lorain Avenue around 130th and 140th. Also a "skettttchy 'hood" Marcs at Ridgetown Square is your best bet. My wife swears by it.
  22. Pshht! I had to find it, read it AND post it - talk about waste. And now I'm commenting about. Ahhhhh!!!
