Yet another reason why I will never move from Cleveland.
  5. Time for the infamous UO letter writers to get to work. This is from Many Metcalf from the Cleveland Ecovillage Yahoo group:

Remember this one - they almost got it. I wish the land bridge would have been done

Awww, coool! They proposed a boat! :-D
  8. I guess I'm a sucker for 60's architecture. Something about that Jetsons look that appeals to me.
  9. I'll be looking decent... but I have my reasons.
  10. I like it much more then the previous rendering. In fact, I like it a lot.
  11. pd: Paintings by zoo animals to be auctioned off Monday, August 20, 2007 Laura Johnston Plain Dealer Reporter Huck the sea lion chomps on the paint brush and wiggles his shiny head up and down, side to side, covering the canvas in purple. "Good, good," cheers his keeper, Tiffany Mayo. "Good boy!" Like any other 5-year-old, Huck's a little rambunctious. He slides in and out of his private pool and slithers around his cage, barking and sputtering before taking up a brush with green paint to complete his work of art... 13. Here is the rendering from the Sunday PD's, Cleveland+ Supplemental section on UH Cancer Hospital. Sorry for the bodies in the picture - I am not that motivated to photoshop them out of the image.
  14. I think it stops keeping track after a few minutes of inactivity anyway, so unless you were constantly refreshing, or using Firefox with the automatic refresh extension (which I do not use), it wouldn't change much
  15. 81 days, 13 hours and 7 minutes. 2286 posts since January 13, 2006, 09:28:06. So, out of the 583 days, 13 hours, 11 minutes and 26 seconds that have passed since I first logged in, I have spent roughly 14% of my time on UO. (as calculated with help from http://www.timeanddate.com/date/timeduration.html?m1=&d1=&y1=&m2=&d2=&y2= When I look at the general stats/posting time, it appears most of my post are during the times of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. I can't imagine why.
  16. I bought my first pair of punk rock combat boots from that Goldfish store. They lasted me about five years of play, work, and more play.

Seeing as it was a supplement and every page had "ADVERTISEMENT" on the top, I doubt it will be online. I am under the impression Cleveland+ paid for it.

    thank you, pope
  19. Something tells me his quote was taken out of context. Besides, he may have said it because that is what the Census Bureau is predicting for Cleveland.

The down side of this is local schools with recycling programs that are used to raise money will suffer. My kids school was just chosen as one of 78 schools nation wide for a pilot program that will recycle drink pouches. Its the same company that uses 20 ox drink bottles for worm poo. Terra-cycle.
  21. If that were the case, yes. But I have seen many homes, mostly of the low-income tier, be torn down and reclaimed by nature or business parks in the name of noise abatement.
  22. AND A FREEWAY!!! I480 was not there in the 50's either.
  23. That still does not make sense. Riverside is mostly land owned by Hopkins. Hopkins has grown considerably since the 50s. How can the population grow 6% with less land - NEAR AN AIRPORT!

As of October, 15,000 Cleveland residents will take part in a pilot automated waste collection system. Each household in the program will receive one 96-gallon grey or black can for garbage and one 64-gallon blue can for recyclables. They will receive the cans for FREE!!! No information is available yet on which neighborhoods are taking part in the pilot program.
