  6. For everyone who has/had a problem with the design, you should have come to today's meeting (or sent me an articluate letter that could have been submitted during the process - I offered that to everyone months ago when I post the 50% SD), but you did not. Today the planning Commission approved with commendations the demolition and schematic design of the the new student center. As was noted in Litt's article, many parts of the design need to be worked out: materials, interior look, etc. But it will likely be a combination of brick, natural stone, glass and and metal (maybe zinc).
  7. Don't know. We have a new provider and I have not seen the prices yet.
  8. Um, I could be wrong, but didn't I post something in here just a little while ago before KJP? Around 7:00 PM? It was titled "South Carolina to Begin Plans to Build I-73 Under A New Pilot Program for Tolling Interstates." I have no problem with somebody telling me if I posted in the wrong thread - just tell me about it. Unless I'm totally screwed in the head - in which case... never mind.

crain's: Not so wild about Wi-Fi Blog entry: August 16, 2007, 10:10 am | Author: SCOTT SUTTELL A nationwide movement by cities to build Wi-Fi networks for their citizens is sputtering, The Wall Street Journal reports, as the projects run into technological and political hurdles and come under increased financial pressure. “Constructing networks that can provide Internet access to homes and office buildings and withstand challenges from nature that interfere with wireless signals — such as hills or rainstorms — is proving more costly than anticipated,” according to the newspaper. Some Wi-Fi projects, such as Philadelphia's, “are running 30% or more over budget,” The Journal reports. “Many cities are discovering the true costs of the initiatives only as they begin to roll out infrastructure and test the networks. Consumer demand for the services, meanwhile, has been soft in the early going.” http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20070816/BLOG01/70816002/-1/RSSBLOG01&rssfeed=RSSBLOG01
  11. I agree - but is this going to lead to additional duties for the moderators? Will there be a need to ban people who do not cite correctly? Is this person going to be the HEIC (editor)? Regardless, I'm already doing it.
  12. For now, it will turn into what it is - a construction debris land fill.

  16. Seriously?????? Well, I suppose I can take something out of my ass and stretch it in photoshop to make it look like anything I want too. sheeesh! Anyway, Design Review was today. Two motions (Demolition and Schematic Design) were introduced and passed unanimously. One commission member asked if he could be the first to strike a blow to the building during demolition. After the meeting, I was treated to lunch by Mr Gwathmey at Bo Long ( along with my boss and three other architects).
