  1. CSU believes it is in the community's best interest to, at the very least, create infrastructure during the reconstruction so that when the time comes and funding is available in the future, it will be easier to create. The minimum build should consist of an expansion of the decks on Euclid and Prospect Avenues. This appears (without any market study to back this up) to be the most logical "scar healing" caused by the Innerbelt's original construction. Wit the current proposed alignment, the portion of the freeway that runs adjacent to the campus will not allow for any capping or development. This area is the only spot where vehicles will be able to enter and exit the freeway. But anything is possible.

Ikea will likely never come to Cleveland. It might, though, go to Green, or somewhere around there.
  5. Both sides were done before Ingenuity. They need to redo the median though. There is temporary asphalt in place now.

I love it. I will never have to shop in the suburbs again. Wifey and I went to IHOP on Sunday morning. I know, I know - just being domestic. They were very busy and service was great. So good that my wife had to tell the manager... and she never does that. One little interesting tid-bit. The dining room was full of, well... white people. And the workers... mostly non-white.
  9. Nice. I will get some too.
  10. (I've been dying to use this one)

  13. How can you say it cannot be expanded? Look at all of the air rights available over the water. :-D
  14. Hey! I just noticed - I can see myself in there.
  15. Hmmm, let the speculation begin.
  16. Actually, the Stokes courthouse is in the Van Sweringen's footprint. The whole south side of Huron Road (over the former coach yards of Cleveland Union Terminal) was to be built on as part of a future expansion of the railroad terminal, with the coach yards moved elsewhere. If you go down to the parking area where the coach yard once was, you'll see steel girders sticking out of the wall below Huron Road. Those were put there in the 1920s to attach to buildings as part of the future expansion that never happened. The Vans also planned to build southward along Ontario, south of Huron and above the railroad and transit tracks. If only the Great Depression hadn't happened.... Anyway, back to Pesht! Wait, one more. This is hanging in one of our hallways.
  17. Ummm... nevermind
  18. I have a request. We are getting close to the 1500 member count (I understand this does not mean there are currently 1500 "active" members). I think it would be a good time to add a new subject under the General Discussions container. Urban Ohio Market It could be our own version of Craig's List without the personals section... or with... whatever. Right now I have an old Nikon and Minolta with a bunch of lenses I would like to sale, and I would like for the members here to have the first shot at purchasing them. Thoughts?

^THAT is a very ignorant claim. Now I do not agree with much of the things he says, he has been very vocal about admitting when he is wrong. This next piece will not help my claim at all ***************************************** pd: http://www.cleveland.com/news/plaindealer/dick_feagler/index.ssf?/base/opinion-0/118682189454370.xml&coll=2
  20. Now that is a petition I will sign. ********************************** pd - tipoff: Jones parries goad with rhyming ode Monday, August 13, 2007 Michael K. McIntyre Plain Dealer Columnist County Commissioner Peter Lawson Jones responded to a smackdown by fellow Commissioner Tim Hagan in last week's Tipoff with a poem that isn't exactly as nimble as Muhammad Ali's rope-a-dope. Hagan, you may recall, joked in a public forum recently that his hand was bandaged because he had "smacked Peter." It must have made Jones punchy. He sent Tipoff a poem titled "The Big Throwdown in the Big C-Town." Here it is in its entirety... http://www.cleveland.com/tipoff/index.ssf?/base/opinion/1186995182169780.xml&coll=2[/u]]
  21. I admit, I don't always post the links to the source of articles - but I will do my best to include it for now on. The problem is with the PD - the links to their articles die after a month or so, so it doesn't matter.

  23. More signatures needed for Cuyahoga sales tax repeal Saturday, August 11, 2007 Sarah Hollander Plain Dealer Reporter Leaders of a movement to repeal Cuyahoga County's sales tax hike said they had collected about a quarter of the signatures needed by Friday morning. The group plans to blitz sporting events and area festivals this weekend in hopes of at least doubling the 10,000 signatures collected so far... more at: http://www.cleveland.com
