Think of the fieldhouse as a replacement for the old intramural dome. It will house offices for the sports program and reduce usage of the recreation center for those who are on CSU sports teams - the rec center being used more as tool for the general population. It is proposed to be connected to Wolstein via a bridge.

I kid... mostly. I have developed a fine sense of taste in my children. (There are several forumers here who can testify to my culinary skills.) My kids have their particular taste preferences. I do insist they at least taste whatever new thing I concoct at home. But every once in awhile, we just have to go to Fridays, or IHOP, or Cracker Barrel, or... well, you get the point.

RE: PLJ's editorial and the resulting posts. It is still possible to implement all of PLJ's ideas - and they are great ideas. But, as was implied by many in the post that follow, MM will not wait for Cleveland/Cuyahoga to get its act together creating naming right, pouring rights, etc. That is why the .25% tax is the correct revenue stream for the moment. This shows MM that we are committed to this project and are willing to do what it takes to get things started. Amazingly, the other two commissioners have tweaked their original plan to allow for changes in it when different revenue sources are identified. There is also verbage that will rescind the tax if paid off early. So why not accept the tax now to get the ball rolling and then work feverishly to implement PLJ's proposals that will allow for an early tax cut.

Wow, this is all news to me. This still does not address the court issues that have caused the delay up to this point. I'll have to ask around again for a status.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
peabody99: I don't feel bad about it at all. And it is easy this time since there are large amounts of equity issues that come to play in this. (Damn Krumholz and his social equity. He must have brainwashed me. Stupid bleeding heart liberals.) E Rocc: Great. I'm glad you slept on that. You were able to completely not respond to anything I said. No problem. I probably did not make myself clear.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
E Rocc: Ok Read your response tomorrow and ask yourself: "Self... why?" "Why are all the "customers" living only in the city, when many of the jobs are located outside said city?" "Why... self?"

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
^yes, I like it. I think in order to make NIMBY work, you need to have a grassroots citizen action. The politicians will follow. If they do not follow what the citizens want... well, just ask former Lakewood Mayor Kahn about that. So it does not matter what my council(woman) wants... its what the residents want. I stand corrected on the term "another." It was supposed to be "Adding A prison." The statement I was attempting (poorly) to make in that sentence was meant to imply social services. (CSI at Metrohealth, Juvy, countless Temp centers, the huge proportion of low-income housing) All of these things sit mostly within the city limits. Why add another? Why can't the rest of the county start taking up the slack (I sound like I'm arguing with my wife - repeating)? To be clear, I never implied that NIMBYISM is at work here. I was invoking my chance to have a say. My own personal batch of NIMBYISM that I bought fair and square at the flea market at Memphis Drive-in before they closed.
