Afrocentric Cleveland skyscraper project in college
Well done. I agree with KJP. If this were a reality, it would add greatly to the storied tales of how each of the existing three towers pay tribute to Greek/Roman architecture (Terminal Tower), Mayan (BP), and Key (Egyptian).

MuRrAy HiLL: Scroll the image to the left. College Town is centered around the next block, north of the Wolstein Center (see layout plan in the one of the images posted earlier). jamiec: Don't be. ks5214: College town has nothing to do with CSU being made sweeter - CSU is doing that on its own - other are taking advantage, and with good reason.

As long as you get credit and all $ made for using them, right? :-)

Cleveland: Firemen's Memorial
I would add it is, in its current inception, not the place for it either. Not sure where something like this would look appropriate... but not here.

Cleveland: Firemen's Memorial
I agree. do you (anyone) know what the original piece was supposed to look like. I remember reading about the artist dying when a piece of his work fell on him before this was complete. I am just wondering if they stuck with his concept all the away, or if it was reworked a bit.

Cleveland: Where to Stay?
When you find a cab driver early in the evening, get his/her phone number for later. Confirm they will be working later. If they are not, see if they know somebody who is, or get a different cab. Try to find a cab driver who appears to be a native of the region. This will likely be the best way to guarantee a cab. (from a former cab driver)

Trolleyville: Lake Shore Electric Railway
About a month or so ago, DCA was invited to the former Trolleyville collection currently being held in a warehouse near the Science center. It is open to the public on the weekends. I also threw in some of the original ads from inside cars. Funny stuff. (The photos are a bit grainy - too bad. Your stuck with it until I get a new camera.) And a few old timer pictures for giggles....

Cleveland: Firemen's Memorial
I have been sitting on these for a while (notice there are still no leaves on the trees). Was hoping the PD would have had an article about so I could piggy back on it. Oh well - figures.

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
I was driving by CSU Friday night and noticed most of the streetlight on the north side of Euclid were on. I took some pictures but they did not come out well. Instead, enjoy these as a substitute. Taken from the offices of the Cleveland Foundation in the Hanna Building.

Euclid Beach Park arch damaged
I saw a video of it on the news too. They did a good job with the repair. Nice pictures, too. Except for the last one with the, what appears to be, boarded up Pizza Smut.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Although there are some design details that should be worked out, I like it. Between the Bop Stop, Bath House and the One Charter project (assuming it is still a go), this building will fit in nicely.

Complex catering to gay elderly hits snag Saturday, June 16, 2007 Henry J. Gomez Plain Dealer Reporter Plans to build a Cleveland-area housing community that would cater to the gay elderly have hit another snag. A Place for Us Development Inc. has pulled out of TEG Properties Inc.'s $15 million Ohio City project, which called for an on-site wellness center and other senior-care services. Executive Director Linda Krasienko said the nonprofit group is working with another developer and is considering options along the Gold Coast in Lakewood. more at: http://www.cleveland.com- Cleveland: Calfee Building (Rockwell and East 6th)
Maybe it's time for a new thread? Staybridge plans downtown hotel Rockwell Ave. office building was once considered for condos Saturday, June 16, 2007 Henry J. Gomez Plain Dealer Reporter After a decade of scrapped plans and false starts, a hotel finally could open in an abandoned downtown Cleveland office building. Staybridge Suites, part of the InterContinental Hotels Group, plans to refashion historic property along Rockwell Avenue, between East Sixth and East Ninth streets, into 126 suites. Developers have been eyeballing the land for condos or a hotel since the late 1990s. Dan Henretty, InterContinental's regional director of franchise sales, said construction should start by year's end with a 2009 opening in mind. Staybridge, with more than 100 locations in the Americas, caters to business travelers on extended stays - five days or more. Each suite will have a full kitchen... more at: http://blog.cleveland.com/business/2007/06/downtown_cleveland_to_get_new.html- Cleveland: Downtown: East 4th Street Developments

That is good to hear. The last I had heard, it was going to be part of a proposed roundabout (not anymore - please no roundabout discussions). But bizbiz brings up a good point. What type of remediation needs to be done for that type of business? - STICKY: What do you want to see???
