Cleveland taxi cab stuff
^On a similar note, my wife and I went to the Home and Flower Show yesterday (thinking nobody would really be there because of the Super Bowl and because it was so freaking cold out - we were wrong) and when I passed the the airport, I noticed a shuttle that was labeled Lorain County Airport Shuttle Service (or something like that). It was about half full, too. I was glad to see that.

Is this the building? I haven't driven that way in a while. It looks like it will be pretty close the street.- Cleveland taxi cab stuff
1st - You are speaking generally. Not ALL cabbies suck. 2nd - Find one good cabbie and you will have access to all of the good cabbies. There are a lot of them. Most of them do not do the airport run because of the predominance of foreign drivers for one hand and the two to three hour waits on the other. I have provided all of my UO friends numerous phone numbers to use when finding a good cabbie. Look for it and quit speaking (typing) in absolutes.- Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)

That is very good news. So if NYC has Broadway and Off- Broadway, is this the start of an "Off" Playhouse Square?- Cleveland: Random Development and News
I was snooping around the flats last week near Harvard Road, south of Steelyard Commons. It was for a project regarding the Tow Path Trail. I noticed some construction going on in what I thought was Alcoa, but is not.It looks like a significant addition to one of the local plants. Anybody know what this is?- Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News

Cleveland Planning Commission gave conceptual approval for the next phase - Gateway Townhomes - and approval for roof and brickwork to the Powerhouse Building. There is still some concern with the townhomes and the overhangs that are on the top of the end buildings.- Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
It was the building next door.- Cleveland: Innerbelt News
Interesting thing came up at the Planning Commission meeting today. There apparently is a policy paper making its round through the various stakeholders that would be impacted by the proposed Carnegie closing (Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Clinic, Midtown, etc) that states they would rather have the minimum build option used and have the money diverted to Opportunity Boulevard. Also, Director Brown explained to the Commission that if they voted to oppose the plan, there i still the chance that state and fed DOT would proceed with the final plan. It has been done before and is very rare, but it could be done. Just thought you would like to chew on that this weekend- Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News

- Why doesn't downtown Cleveland have....
It's utterly ridiculous that we can't do this stupid ceremony. Those rock stars come to Cleveland for shows anyway. It'd kill them to come here for that?? Then they wonder why the locals don't support the museum more. and WHERE are the stars going to stay? the Holiday Inn? The Hampton Inn? The Clarion? Hell we don't have one urban spa. We don't have "high end pamperd business" in Cleveland that can cater to self absored stars. Award shows are all about spending money and being seen. We don't have first class accomodations for that amount of media/entertainment and entourages. We have a decent amount of venues, for preparties, after parties, afinnity group events, but not to house those that would come for such an event. We do support the RRHoF, but - as a local - after you been once, you really don't need to go again for a year or two in order to catch whats new. The museum, at its current age, is really geared towards tourist & first time visitors. Rock Hall CEO Terry Stewart has said numerous times, as well as other RH Foundation types, that Cleveland has enough hotel space and could have the ceremonies every year as long as somebody from here paid for it (the City?). People (he would not say who) are paying extra to keep it in NYC.- Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
That would be incredible if it happens. I remember seeing the same photo a few years back, but not the portion where CVS is. Could you imagine walking into a drugstore like that? I've been trying to catch up on my photo posting. Might as well continue the trend here. These were from last Friday (as were almost all of the pictures I've been posting lately). I was walking down Euclid and noticed some demo work going on in the building next to the Rotunda. It was around lunch time and nobody was working. But as soon as one worker saw me outside taking pictures a whole bunch came out to look busy. They were very concerned with my my well being, all of the sudden. And now some shots for posterity's sake.- Cleveland: Steelyard Commons

How is that too tight.?It was designed to handle semi-truck traffic to the flats. I use it almost everyday and it works fine. I acknowledge the part of the Steelyard traffic, as did the ODOT people. I was told there were two traffic accident projections, one for the initial opening and another for a year out. It is a proven fact that roundabouts reduce traffics compared to a typical signaled intersection; however, the accident count for a new roundabout always is higher then previous counts the first 6 months as drivers learn the new procedures. This a completely new system for Cleveland and the accidents have been so little.... but I agree - we'll see what happens once all of the stores open.- Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
