Is there a unspoken policy (or spoken) on UO that dictates when a project is moved from the "Projects and Construction" container to the "Abandoned" container?
  3. Good news. What was so big about December? The warmth? Anybody have bike data for the whole year? ^ And I would really like to know more about this. I wasn't just wondering out load. Any input?

Nice. Based on the graphic I can now place where the sky walkway is going to be and I think it will work well there. The elevated walkways are not always evil. It all depends on its placing. I think a well designed bridge in this place could really frame and highlight the downtown view corridor, not take away.
  6. No problem. There is only one thing in the world that get me riled - be accused of something that is not true. BTW, I completely agree with your statement about lighting it up. Of course it does not work now. It's vacant, dark and dirty. The 9th street side entrance is an amazing work of art. I wish I remembered what it looked like when it was occupied.
  7. I mostly like them. I don't dislike them.

The Auditors site show no sale.
  9. Hold on Buckeroo! My Planet of the Apes comment are not derogatory. Way back somewhere in this thread, I was rambling on and on about how much I love the building. I then said something like, "...it reminds me of the PoA" which is a movie series I love and shaped the way I view the world... seriously. I love this building. I do not want it torn down. I am (because I expect the worst out of people - this way I am never let down) expecting it to be demo'd. It makes me sick to my stomach that people will make a decision to do something like tear down a one-of-a-kind (that is, nowhere is there a building like this in the world) building purely on looks. Now if we were talking financially - that's a different story. If it is completely more fiscally responsible to tear down and rebuild, give me a hammer and I'll help get it done. But when some of you (who might be just as ugly) want to act on something as subjective as looks...

Target's original site plan suggests outlots are available closer to the street. See here: http://clevelandplanner.blogspot.com/2006/10/giant-eagle-likely-not-coming-to.html West 117th is on the right and the outlots are "C" and "D." Too bad lot B won't be developed anytime soon since Giant Eagle is opening in Westown. ****************** Good luck this semester. Its my last one, too.
  11. I can think of at least five in Cleveland. I know there are more. The brightness has been toned down here as well. When they were first put up I remember hearing there was a condition that said there had to be public service messages displayed. I saw them for the first few months, but not lately - except for the occasional amber alert. Every once in a while I will see an advert for a radio station and it will state something like "Now Playing: Sammy Hagar - I Can't Drive 55!" and I turn the station on and its Whitney Houston. Arrrrgggg!

  13. I proclaim January the Official Urban Ohio Old Thread Resurrection Month. Do I have the power to do that? Probably not. Anyway, Good article in the New York Times about these yesterday. MORE: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/11/business/media/11outdoor.html?_r=1&ref=business&oref=slogin
  14. I've been telling a few friends looking to buy about this place (as well as the Avenue). If they buy, is there a finders fee?

I was thinking (uh,oh), and this is not completely fleshed out, but I bet there would be significantly less complaints from people if there were a commitment from ODOT to go forward with Opportunity Corridor. This still might not be what folks like the Cleveland Clinic, Central Caddy, Premier, etc want, but it might help out with any possible traffic congestion issues that have already been identified.
  17. More space to be used!!! I wonder how much "free" water line work Warrensville Heights will get for this.
  18. Besides, it is right up on the street.
  19. ^That is what heard - St. Lukes. Ryser might be taking over on the project and the subject came up in class. Thanks for un-jarring the memory.
  20. ^Besides, maybe the new "class" of people will bring a new caliber of clientèle to the Gold Horse. It really is not the great of a place (remember - cab driver).

It is nice to hear Ratner, et al, feel Myers can pull it off. I hope it works out. I've heard many current students have already left. Since I just found this revived thread (it seems to be the week for it), the first thing I wondered was what people thought of Columbus. If it was not the state capital, would it be considered a college town?
  22. Hey, if it wasn't for Bob Seger we wouldn't have "Like a Rock," and then there wouldn't be all those Chevy commercials.... sheesh.
  23. I second the motion. Ands whats up with all these Beaux Arts buildings everywhere. Enough. Tear them down, too
