  1. Wow! That is really good news. Unexpected, but good.
  2. He made it once again to the Independence Day parade in Lakewood with his too-lovely wife. She towers over him.
  3. ^There will be a deli with indoor and outdoor seating.
  4. I wouldn't mind a new building, but I would not want the current one torn down. Last year, NC sought and received approval from the city to reface the entrance on East 9th and the place (I can only describe it as) a crown on top of the tower. With all of the acquisitions of late, you would think now is the time to get the crown started. (When asked recently, Cimperman stated that as far as he knows, NC hasn't even filed permits.)
  5. Ah, the first building block for Opportunity Corridor has been set. It is good to see this finally get going. Seriously, if a train derails in front of City Hall, the current juvy center will still have problems. That was a poor argument. Maybe he really wanted to put in near the Stockyards Neighborhood.

  7. I did not know where to post this and tdid not think it warranted its own thread. I also am not sure I buy into it, but thought it might spur some conversation.
  8. I was just up there a few months ago with my kids and noticed the area blocked off to boaters. All of the siteseeing maps have the area marked as no tresspassing. I'm glad they are doing something about it. It looks like a nice area to be around. There would be a nice view of the islands from there.
  9. What will the economic impact be if/when there is a ban on smoking in public spaces? http://www.smokefreeohio.org/oh/
  10. Notes from Flats Oxbow and: and, finally: I wonder why nobody brought up public transportation, or the proposed elevator to the viaduct.

if the live voting results were any indication, I doubt North Coast Harbor will be represented in the new version. I recall many of the cities having mostly sports related places as choices.
  16. I don't recall them saying where it will be, but there will be access from the outside instead of the inside (as it will be for all of the businesses currently located there). Call Cimperman.
  17. Wood County Library purchases land for overflow parking lot Toledo Blade, 8/3/06 After nearly a year of public debate, the Wood County District Public Library has purchased the sand lot just west of the library where it intends to build an overflow parking lot this fall. The library paid owner Robert Maurer $162,692.70 for the North Church Street land, according to records filed in the county auditor's office. Library board President Scott McEwen said yesterday the transaction amount reflects the $150,000 sale price agreed to in a purchase option the library signed with Mr. Maurer in 2003, plus Mr. Maurer's "out-of-pocket" expenses for the property, including interest accrued on his loan. The purchase price does not include the costs Mr. Maurer incurred demolishing a house on the property and excavating the sand hill to street level - a bill the library still must pay, Mr. McEwen said.

You ever have one of those moments when you are going crazy trying to find info you know is buried in your head, but can't find it. I just had one of those moments. It was Monte Carlo I was trying to think of... Anyway, when this was being discussed a few years ago by City Hall, there was an understanding that Burke is a reliever airport for Hopkins and the only way it could even begin to be considered for decommissioning, the county airport at Lost Nation would have to expanded first.
  19. Don't know. It's all part of the reimaging project going on now.

Who is "We"? Was this an OpEd? Just wondering What if a street layout was built that was pedestrian and development friendly (assuming Burke is redeveloped) but was done in a way that still allowed for the race once a year. Are there other cities that do this? Isn't there a Grand Prix in Europe somewhere that has the drivers racing through a city? I'm think it's Monte Carlo, or someting like that. Or the county airport, right?
  21. Reserve Square is in talks with Arabica about opening a shop there.

    Funny. Your right, it does.
  24. The Cleveland Planning Commission passed a resolution at their July 21 meeting that sort of addresses this. http://clevelandplanner.blogspot.com/2006/08/july-21-2006-summary-of-cleveland.html I am completely guessing here, but the move from director to FC council could be percieved as a component toward getting the R/R to TC. Part of the resolution passed reads:
