  1. Thanks, Guv. On that note, I looked up the site on the auditors page and saw that MRN are not the owners of that particular parcel (or the one immediately to the west). It is owned, and has been for a couple of years, by Downtown Buildings, LLC. Anybody heard of them? Is this just a different "firm" for Ari? I was able to sneak a shot of the Corner Alley last night. Looks like there is still much to do. And here are two more shots from Lola's
  2. Took this before the crowds came on Thursday. Too bad they could not have been open for the festival. Also, I know this was talked about earlier in the thread, but what is really going to go on the lot on Prospect were ther is now a parking lot. Does anybody know for sure?
  3. By "later," I obviously meant today. I did not go yesterday (I knew it was going to crappy out last night) but will most likely go today and then take the kids tomorrow. Maybe we should have a meetup. Here are the promised pics. If you want to see all 42 I took go here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/muscatello/sets/72157594199826276/ If you want to see the iNGENUiTY Flickr Photo Pool or want to contribute your own pictures , go here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/ingenuitycleveland/pool/
  4. I totally agree. There has to be a better way to do it and still raise a little money. May be make it free the first day and during the day on Friday, then charge on Sat/Sun but at a lower cost. There is a work around - the secret code you need to give the volunteers at the gate is........ I'm going to : the bar, the restaruant, the hotel, or any specific business in the area. They will let you in then. You will be able to go to any of the public areas, but will not be able to go into the special performance area like Amistad(sp?) Chapel or the May company stage. Also forgot to mention, kids 12 and under are free.
  5. Last night was great. From the 1000 Drums to Hip Hop Apotheosis. Also, unlike last year, you need to purchase a ticket to get in. ($10 for the Day amd $25 for the rest of the weekend.) This was not advertised very well and many people have been caught off guard. I will have photos from yesterday up a little later.
  6. I know! I know! Yes... $10 for one day, $25 for the whole weekend.
  7. Read this artical posted in the "Cleveland: Combined Sewers and Water Quality Issues" thread. http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?topic=6578.msg109444#msg109444

Wow, that was alot of reading. (insert sweating emoticon) I do not think we will, or even should, ever rely wholely on ethanol, but is feel it is fine as a supplement. My turn: The Providence Journal http://www.shns.com/shns/scrippsnews/index.cfm?action=detail&pk=BIOFUELS-07-10-06
  9. I just took some pictures of the work at BP. Looks like much of the curb work is done. I imagine there will be more houses here. I just thought the view of downtown from the back decks of the house are spectacular. When it is time for me to purchase my next house (after the two older kids graduate from high school - 4 years and counting), I might consider moving here.

(Slightly off-topic, but interesting nonetheless. From the Wall Street Journal http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2006/07/06/wal-mart-warms-to-gore/ This is one month after hiring the Rocky Mountain Institute as a consulatant. From the Benton County Daily Record in Arkansas. http://nwanews.com/bcdr/News/35568/ One month before this, Walmart CEO Lee Scott met with the Seventh Generation CEO Jeffrey Hollender. You can read Hollenders account here (it is rather long) http://www.seventhgeneration.com/making_difference/newsletter_article.php?article=462&issue=71 Does this mean Walmart has decided to take a more sustainable approach to it business philosophy, or are they just concerned with the bottom line? Maybe both.
  14. Yes, that is correct. Now if only something like that could said for a school of architecture. :?

Should this be in the Lakefront Development News: Cleveland thread? It is all related to the Waterfront Plan, no?
  16. Cleveland Planning Website Update The web Page for the Cleveland Planning Commission has undergone a long due update. Although not not a complete reworking, it at least gives easier access to the Waterfront and the mostly complete Master Plan. It would be nice if there were bios ofthe commission and staff... put a name with the face. The Interactive GIS Map of the city appears to be the same data from three years ago - it is still pretty functional and user freindly. Check it out at http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/cpc.html
  17. Re: Tower City Wasn't there originally supposed to be three different phases to the project? And did it not include residential?
  18. It is close to the middle of the campus. It is mostly open space with some parking for the Corlett Building See below. In the CSU world, a planning study usually consists of feasibility (see the Dive Tank Planning Study done by Osborne - http://www.csuohio.edu/architect/projects/lf-0515.html) Good question. Only god and that person know... and god ain't talkin'
  19. If that were a wish, it would have to be more specific then that. There would have to be a thread created just for wishes. Let's just say it's a go and already paid for.
  20. Wouldn't it be really cool if there was a press release stating that a certain local businessman and philanthropist and overall rich (and possibly too libertarian) gave CSU money? Wouldn't it be really cool if that money was somewhere in the amount of $25,000? You know what would be reeeaaallly cool? What if that money was to be used for a planning study for a performing/fine arts center - maybe on the land immediately south of the Communications College? Wait, it would be really super-duper cool if the firm doing the planning study was an internationally recognized, award winning local architectural firm who has already done work at CSU. Hmmmmm, that would be great news.
  21. ^On that note, this was in yesterdays PD Business section: So, in reality, there are only three new businesses opening - the rest are relocating. Yeah, it's only retail, but still. What is this saying about the state of retail in Beechwood? Do I care? Nope!
  22. One more post on this thread for today: Saw this in yesterdays PD - not sure I am happy with this move.
  23. I do not recall for sure, but I think there was some posts in this thread regarding dorms on the north side of Chester, near the innerbelt. Earlier this month, this project went before the Planning Commission for conceptual approval. Here are some notes from that meeting:
