Cedar Point
So, I am watching this live stream of the new coaster. It is funny in the sense they are trying to create some sort of Apple event feel to the press conference. Anyway, I am excited about it. The closest I've been to a coaster like from only a handful of parks nationwide I've attended is the Maverick. Cedar Point ready to reveal 2016 secrets A breakdown of Cedar Point's teases to their 2016 attraction announcement. What's up their scream-inducing sleeve? After months of speculation, Cedar Point is preparing to unleash their big plans for 2016. Could it be a new roller coaster? Is it the much-desired dark ride many die hard theme park fans have been hoping for? The official announcement is expected at 9 a.m. Wednesday, which we will be streaming live. Despite the 2016 ride debate, signs are strongly pointing at the addition of Valravn -- a heavily rumored record-breaking Dive Coaster. News of a potential Dive Coaster coming to Cedar Point surfaced back in January after a leaked memo obtained by the Sandusky Register revealed plans that showed the record-breaking attraction would be built in the space once held by the now-demolished Good Time Theatre and Turnpike Cars. The rumored mean machine is said to reach a height of 223 feet with a vertical drop that will plummet thrill seekers through a tunnel. If the memo is accurate, the ride's total length would be 3,625 feet with speeds up to 80 mph.... ...In late August, the 2016 plans took a fresh twist when a vague "work in progress" proposal was found filed with the FAA indicating the park's plans to construct a "tower" at a height of 230 feet tall between Oct. 12 and Feb. 28. http://www.wkyc.com/story/news/features/2015/09/08/cedar-point-ready--reveal-2016-secrets/71874120/?source=nletter-

Euclid News
Euclid acquiring funding to add trail and beach along lakefront A walkway and a beach where visitors can launch kayaks and small sailboats is closer to reality now that Euclid is acquiring funding for the second phase of its ambitious waterfront improvement plan. The project will take up to 30 months to complete. The city hired JJR, LLC, a design and engineering firm, in 2009 to assist with refining plans for improvement and enhancement of the waterfront. The $30 million plan would extend public access along the shoreline from Sims Park east to near the intersection of Lake Shore Boulevard and East 246th Street. Two years ago the city dedicated a $1.1 million fishing pier, which has been very popular, said Mayor Bill Cervenik. Since then officials have worked to acquire the $10 million needed for the second phase, a three-quarter-mile all-purpose trail and breakwaters that would re-establish beaches that have disappeared, said Cervenik and Frank Pietravoia, special assistant to the mayor for development. "This creates the opportunity for the public to get down to the water," Pietravoia said. A measure to provide a $4 million loan to the city from the Casino Revenue Fund will be introduced Tuesday at Cuyahoga County Council. The city received $1 million in state capital improvement funds. It will also seek $2 million to $3 million in federal block grant funds and funding from the Ohio Environmental Protective Agency and Ohio Department of Natural Resources. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/09/euclid_acquiring_funding_to_add_trail_and_beach_along_lakefront.html [attachments via City of Euclid] Print by Scott Muscatello, on Flickr Print by Scott Muscatello, on Flickr Print by Scott Muscatello, on Flickr

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Nooooooooooooo Players on Madison, popular dining destination in Lakewood, to close Oct. 4 Players on Madison, one of the region's perennially popular dining destinations, will serve its last meals on Sunday, Oct. 4. Mattie Lucarelli, wife and business partner to Players owner Gary Lucarelli, confirmed that the restaurant will cease operation. "The restaurant will cease to exist as Players come October 4th," she said. "Basically, it's time," Mattie Lucarelli continued. [Gary] is going to be 72 next birthday, and little by little the places he's run have closed." Those restaurants have had considerable profile in the Northeast Ohio restaurant scene. In addition to Players, which opened as Players Pizza and Pasta during the late 1970s, Lucarelli has operated Sweetwater at the Galleria in downtown Cleveland; Tutto a Posto on the city's east side; Sweetwater Landing at the Emerald Necklace Marina in Rocky River; Star at Playhouse Square, and Stages at Cleveland Playhouse. http://www.cleveland.com/dining/index.ssf/2015/09/players_on_madison_to_close_oc.html

Cedar Point
Cedar Point to unveil new ride Park expected to announce biggest-ever dive coaster Held up by an unforeseen tragedy last month, Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky will unveil its newest attraction for 2016 next week, and industry experts say it will be a “dive” roller coaster. And there are indications that it will be the largest of its kind, that it could cost up to $30 million, and that it will be called Valravn, which in Danish folklore is a supernatural raven that consumes the bodies of the dead on a battlefield and can shapeshift into a knight or a half-wolf, half-raven creature. An announcement about the ride is planned for 9 a.m. Sept. 9. It is expected to occupy the site of the park’s former Good Time Theater. Would love if we could go back to having more options for themes. I prefer my web browsing to be high contrast. Its easier on my eyes.
