Thanks - duly noted. Now... how to get somebody to enforce it "No advertising device shall be erected or maintained within six hundred sixty feet of the edge of the right-of-way of a highway on the interstate system"

I get the local stuff. I have to deal with that every season in Euclid (zoning enforcement). I'm specifically talking about the countless signs of the likes of Sherrie Miday. They are not just on the exit/entrance ramps. They are literally every place you can think of on the freeway: I77, I480, I490, I90... etc. As far as I know, political signs (or any advertisement for that matter, cannot be placed in public rights-of-way... generally speaking). That's not even taking into consideration the danger factor in said minions being out int he middle berm of said interstates placing the signs. There has got to be some sort of rule on this, no. I looked on the Secretary of State, Cuyahoga County BOE, and other web sites, but might not be looking in the right place. Maybe I should just straight to ODOT?

Does anyone know whom to contact regarding the proliferation of ground signs throughout the CLE Interstate system? This cannot be legal. Most particularly odd for a Court of Common Pleas candidate to have her minions posting this crap in very unsafe places. I'm particularly looking for code that shows what is allowed and not allowed before I go tattling on anyone

Awesome photos. Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to get a tour of this place myself. I love how much more awesome the NCB (pnc) building looks in your shots then what it looks like from street level

I bet we have not heard the last of what happens with the land feed up if the Prospect ramp is removed. Although it IS a lot of land for potential future development. I also notice there will be a taking of a portion of the northeast corner (southeast portion of the Burger King parking lot) and northwest corner, as well as the building currently occupying the two to three parcels it sits on (currently a convenient type store serving the housing project across Cedar) [see below]

WHOA!!! Big news! And "a unique “on-structure” intersection" sounds like the perfect way to handle the task. State Keeps Access to Carnegie Unique intersection will maintain direct access to MidTown Cleveland CLEVELAND (Thursday, October 2, 2014) – State transportation officials, under the direction of Governor John R. Kasich, have agreed to maintain access to Cleveland’s MidTown corridor during the complete reconstruction of the city’s Innerbelt. The decision was made following requests from the local community and legislators to take MidTown access into consideration. The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has proposed a unique “on-structure” intersection – an elevated intersection above interstate 90 – in order to maintain access to the MidTown Health and Technology Corridor via Carnegie Avenue on Cleveland’s near-east side. “This is an important step in continuing the modernization of the Cleveland Innerbelt Corridor,” said state Representative Bill Patmon. “I share the concerns the MidTown community had with ODOT’s previous plan and the department responded by reexamining the area and improving the plan. I’m happy with the response, but we still have more work to do. Governor Kasich is fair and open-minded. He is a strong advocate for Cleveland and I’m excited to continue our work together on this issue.” The improved MidTown access and “on-structure” intersection would look somewhat similar to the West Goodale Street and Park Street intersection, over interstate 670 in the city of Columbus. ODOT will continue to work with its stakeholders regarding the aesthetic look and feel of the newly created area. “Over the last thirteen years we've heard from stakeholders that the previous plan was unacceptable,” said state Representative Sandra Williams. “I am pleased that the administration has worked diligently with the community to devise a plan that may be acceptable given a few tweaks.” The estimated cost of the improvement is roughly $20 million dollars. Once funding is identified, construction of this portion of the Innerbelt Plan could begin as early as 2017. About ODOT’s Innerbelt Modernization Plan: The multi-billion dollar Cleveland Innerbelt Modernization Plan is comprised of seven “Contract Groups” and is focused on improving safety, reducing congestion and modernizing interstate travel in and around Downtown Cleveland. This investment will rehabilitate and reconstruct about five miles of interstate roadways and address operational, design, safety and access shortcomings. ODOT is in the midst of replacing the 1959 “Innerbelt Bridge” with two new structures – one to carry traffic in each direction. The pair have been named in honor of statesman George V. Voinovich. The first of the pair is open and temporarily carrying traffic in both directions until completion of the second bridge in late 2016. For more information on this project and others along the Innerbelt Corridor, please visit www.Innerbelt.org. ###
  9. STUNNING! And then we have the crap CCF is producing here
  10. Me and our mutual friend went on a walking tour of Playhouse Square and immediate areas last week. One of the things mentioned was this years holiday event (tree lighting, etc) will actually be held there at the intersection of East 14th and Euclid instead of Public Square. Is that "ASAP" enough.

Pardon Our Construction... Due to the on-going construction of The Q's new HD video scoreboard system, Cavs install temporary displays and speakers to deliver in-game scores, stats, video and sound elements for tonight’s W&G Scrimmage and upcoming preseason games As Quicken Loans Arena prepares to unveil its brand new HD scoreboard in time for the tipoff of the Cavaliers 2014-15 regular season, fans are asked to “pardon the dust” during the team’s preseason action. High-quality temporary video and audio systems will be in place during the Cavs preseason matchups to allow fans the opportunity to still experience all the fun and excitement of the Cavs’ game presentation. Beginning with the Wine & Gold Scrimmage tonight, Wednesday, October 1st, fans can expect to see four high-definition temporary projection boards hanging from the rafters on each side of the arena bowl. These temporary boards will serve as alternative screens for fans to catch the game entertainment action. The lower level LED fascia will be used to display game statistics that will keep fans privy to what’s happening on the court. On Sunday, October 5th as the Cavs face Euroleague power Maccabi Tel Aviv, two brand new, permanent screens will be in place in the northwest and southeast corners of the arena bowl and display the score feed. Details and renderings of The Q’s new HD video scoreboard system will be released at a later date closer to the start of the regular season. http://www.nba.com/cavaliers/releases/pardon-our-construction-141001

I'm going to the Wine and Gold scrimmage tonight with the fiance'e. Among all the other exciting things to witness (no pun intended) I can't wait to see the new scoreboard.
  14. The next best thing: A 45 story mixed-use tower with a transit center on the ground floor in the current surface parking lot just off the west quadrant. It kills several birds with one massive stone. Even better, a combination of both of those ideas. A 52 story mixed use tower and complex with underground transit center connecting the east and west sides of Cleveland. Oh Wait.... we already have that
  15. Ah, ok. Did not know what the target maximum occupancy was. Public Hall is a great space.

Yes. The district includes Cleveland State University and Cuyahoga County Community College
  17. It never is for a road project because there is no such federal requirement placed on a road project. In fact the Inner Belt project in 2007 was the first time ODOT ever did an economic impact study prior to building a road. It did so only because the city of Cleveland demanded it. I think the brownfield remediation aspects of this road project are its biggest benefits. But if we had as much taxpayer funding for brownfield remediations as we did for road construction, we wouldn't need a road to revitalize the Forgotten Triangle. (EDIT: Not sure what happened to my text here - retyping it... although I don't recall the initial wording) This would be permitted if a TIF was established, no? It would if a TIF were created, no?

  21. My guess is that some neighbor raised the issue of the lot's non-conformance to the City. Probably the Brewery, based on the above. A lot more to the story.

  23. ^You are... whatever. Not worth it
  24. This car lot has existed for several years on this corner. The operators have gathered signatures of all the adjacent land owners and support the continued use. All except for one... the brewery. I only know some of the drama, but it all surrounds the new brewery. This is going to be a fight
