  1. I don't recall - is the Century the same space the Cleveland International Film Festival uses as a hospitality suite during the festival?
  2. That is just what I was thinking, 8Shades. Except, I would have said Last.fm over Pandora any day. And don't forget all of college radio. Regardless, technology is making traditional radio obsolete. The latest/greatest has got to be Spotify. I am amazed at the amount of music of all genres that can be found here. 3. 327, not sure what you are expecting. The two spots on Euclid with significant grass are next to Levin and in front of the Communication Building (currently being used for in-season farmers markets). The later being the potential home for some future arts related building in the future (possibly, but not likely). This has always been part of the "turning inside-out" of the campus from the closed-off, protective way it was built with its brutalism architecture, to one more inviting. But if you don't like it, that is fine. You are entitled to your opinion.

  5. Not affirmative, Strap. I was just using the evidence presented in addition to my working knowledge of how things operated in the University Architects Office (including anecdotal evidence suggesting the Rascal House in Euclid may be up for sale). There are 7 parcels in this block. Only two are owned by two different (although related) privet entities: the two previously mentioned. Peabody's is part of Rascal House.
  6. Agreed, but if my memory serves me correctly that tower was built to be added onto. I know one of the new towers was built to added onto. That's what I recall, too.
  7. According to the CSU website, its in the planning phase still
  8. [crap - i lost all of my original post - gonna try to remember what i had earlier] CSU has over $190 million of planned development through 2014. This first image shows the extent of this plan -an update to the previous master plan. Most of it we already know about; the basketball pavilion was new to me. The second image shows a rendering of what the health science building, or Global Sustainability Center, could look like. Notice how the footprint maintains the Euclid "ribbon" (undulating pockets of pedestrian friendly green space) that has always been part of the mater plan. I just did a parcel search on the group of parcels bordered by Euclid Ave to the north, East 22nd to the east, Prospect Ave to south and East 21st to the west. They are all owned by CSU directly or the State of Ohio. That is, except for the parking lot adjacent to Rascal House (owned by Rascal House Inc) and the Rascal House complex itself (owned by Frangos). I bring this up because previously I stated it was not in the immediate plans of CSU to obtain these parcels - I stand corrected as I now know this to not be the case.
  9. Tell me more. BTW, all this talk about Staples (and my recent Google searches for wireless USB adapters) has resulted in ads for Staples wireless USB adapters appearing on the bottom of these pages! Besides the school bookstore, i believe there is at least two stores on the south side of Euclid that sell office type things. And.... what ads??? Oh, that's right. I use ad-block on my browsers. I don't get those things anywhere.
  10. Isn't there a small office supply store on Euclid near CSU?
  11. Madonna to perform at halftime of Super Bowl NEW YORK (AP) - The Material Girl will be taking the stage on football's biggest night. Madonna, who has sold more than 300 million records, will perform at halftime of the Super Bowl in Indianapolis. The NFL and NBC announced Sunday during the Detroit-New Orleans game that the Grammy Award-winning singer will highlight the show at Lucas Oil Stadium on Feb. 5.http://apnews.myway.com/article/20111205/D9RE62QO0.html
  12. I recall several meetings (mostly informal) where we discussed what would be possible for the tower. Its a hard building to work with. Re-facing was the option that was most desired, but most costly, too. The only good alternative now would be to to keep it as it is and use the skinny windows as turrets to take out any future zombie in the apocalypse.
  13. Very nice. I'm liking shot number 4. There's a good sense of scale there using the traffic parapet in relation to the steel.

I'm kind of laughing too. You are making many assumptions based on no facts. While I tend to feel the same as you, you should not state these things as facts. It is likely the $400 mil includes any possible infrastructure work - if it is even needed. We do not know for sure where they would locate in the Columbus region. I do, however, completely agree with the no new jobs created statement.

If - and that's a big if - a McD's was to go on the site, a traffic study would have to be taken. In there proposal, an access road that would connect to Bliss lane would have been built which would ease traffic onto LSB for BP, Walgreens, as well as any future development on the Alexanders site
  16. That's better then the 9 that was predicted

The former Alexanders Restaurant is being demolished today. The owner wants to place a McDonalds there and plans have been submitted, but no approvals have been given. There is currently some back and forth between he City and the EPA regarding capacity at the water treatment plant to the north. Until that is resolved there will likely be no new development (if any at all) on this site.
  18. I love his Tremont space. Akron is getting a good thing.
  19. This could be posted in the "Another dumb-a$$ list/Ranking of cities" thread, i suppose: Three Ohio companies make Forbes ‘most promising’ list Three Ohio companies made Forbes list of the top 100 most-promising companies. Euclid-based Mesocoat, which provides metal coating and cladding, was the top ranked Ohio company at No. 50. Wooster-based ABSMaterials, which makes reactive gas, ranked No. 67 and Hilliard-based E-cycle, which recycles mobile phones and tablets for developing countries, was No. 68. 20. Good plan. Cover the Innerbelt in this area would do so much for the area.

I'm pretty certain there would never be a check written for $400 mil to be cashed on any given date. This is probably spread out over 20+ years and includes stipulations and other blah blah blah

Thanks for posting and unlocking, KJP.
