Every time I walk past their old location at 3800 Whitman, it makes me sad. Would love to see 3800 as a hospitality space again.

I cannot wait to see how Lorain Ave progresses from 25th to 54th over the next 5-10 years.

A lot are being saved too. Still plenty of beautiful historic buildings on the street. UCS plan for the space has me extremely excited. As a resident of W 48th, I smile everyday I see all those young kids and families walking to school. What a gem of an institution to have in the neighborhood. Super excited for this stretch of Lorain. PS: Lorain Bikeway, we need you.

West 48th has at least 5+ rehabs happening (and 2 new builds). Ohio City has so much room for growth still, it's incredible.

It's part of a two year agreement for longer term use as a parking lot. It was presented at City Planning a few weeks back. I believe they asked for 4 years at first and City Planning told them no. City Planning also said that if they do end up using it for more than two years as a parking lot, it needs to be brought up to the parking lot standards set forth by the city.

I swear I've seen people in this building as recently as this fall.

A few interesting demolitions/renovations/builds presented at Landmarks yesterday for Lorain Ave. The first is demolishing a portion of 4434 Lorain Ave (for most of it's history, a funeral home) and renovating the original structure from the 1860's into a retail/living space. This was approved unanimously. The second is the demolition of 4909 Lorain Ave. A beautiful building in it's day but through decades of neglect has become a nuisance. UCS proposes to extend their footprint even more and build offices and work spaces for the school along with a retail component to help UCS members learn about business. I'm not sure on the status of this as the live stream cut out earlier than expected on YouTube.

I only reference these videos because LaFlexico and many members of the group have been arrested and charged with various crimes. These kids build clout through these videos and are actually out in the streets living the life they’re portraying in the videos. I’m concerned about Cleveland because that is where I live. These shootings don’t directly effect me but they effect a lot of people and it’s beyond sad. I am more than open to criticism on how to speak about this issue more effectively or correctly but we have to acknowledge the issue in Cleveland with increased violence and organized crime participation. It’s been happening for years now.

We need to figure out a way to heal these communities/youth. It's going to take time and INTENSE effort from a competent government. Media and the internet are toxic. You should see the music videos that are being produced in our own backyards. They incriminate themselves but it's cool to show off that way, it's only getting cooler. Everyone is carrying around that shouldn't be.
