  1. West 25th, the East and West Bank along with Scranton Peninsula have plenty of lots/space to develop that type of housing. This world class park will only strengthen the case for it.

  3. Something of note is the fencing for their West 47th and Bridge Townhomes development in OHC is down. It came down over the weekend and I believe they're preparing the lot to either restart OR to avoid fines for overgrowth. They did just get their permits approved for the rest of development there it seems. As a reminder, they have a few foundations already poured. https://www.google.com/maps/@41.4806497,-81.7190394,3a,75y,221.14h,90t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sJXdhQVHADh6jJJddL03_rg!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fcb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile%26w%3D900%26h%3D600%26pitch%3D0%26panoid%3DJXdhQVHADh6jJJddL03_rg%26yaw%3D221.13876!7i16384!8i8192?coh=205410&entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI0MTAwMi4xIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D
  4. I stayed at The Beekman last fall and it was so beautiful/charming/fun. On a REALLY tight street in Manhattan so similar flow to this hotel. Happy to see Cleveland keeping these tight streets alive. I will always miss Moriarty's here but the hotel will be great. PS: The Beekman has an incredible bar, restaurant, etc. within but across the street is an old dive called Nassau Bar with gruff, drunken bartenders who made my Clevelander self feel so welcome + cheap drinks for NYC. Good people.

Semi-related to zoning... Terry Coyne and Brent Zimmerman on the City of Cleveland's development process.
  6. Wow! I didn't know there was a reservoir there before. For those interested in the history... https://clevelandhistorical.org/index.php/items/show/945 It would be awesome if the developers and city could work together to preserve the arch and add some sort of glass view/marker to it.
  7. Owners of Gordon Green (K2) potentially purchasing 5505 Lorain Ave. https://aca-prod.accela.com/COC/Cap/CapDetail.aspx?Module=BuildingHousing&TabName=BuildingHousing&capID1=24CAP&capID2=00000&capID3=00GRA&agencyCode=COC&IsToShowInspection=
  8. Yep I know over a dozen people from Buffalo and the outer ring of Pittsburgh suburbs that live/work in Cleveland. A lot of them are JCU alum. I'd assume a bunch of those plates are students or grads from that same pipeline.
  9. Exactly! 49th and Detroit properties butt up against an entire street of single family homes. Nothing like the Welleon is getting built there unless all those homes are acquired too. Townhomes, small MyPlace style apartments... maybe but not the Welleon.
  10. If you haven't watched others, they're just about the same. It's either "parking" or "too tall"/"too big".
  11. Parking is not a right unless you own the land a parking spot sits on.
  12. The walkway splits the lower and upper section of the lawn. The second half of the lawn (nearest toward the volleyball courts) is actually raised and has tiered seating around it to allow for sitting areas to view the lake.
  13. That and SHPO is involved. The "design" looked the same as it is now, essentially but extended further back with the new apartments. Westleigh Harper said SHPO is demanding a lot of things when asked about certain choices by the committee.
  14. All of us here know what our most underutilized asset is... props to Metroparks for making Facebook people think Cleveland is the tropics. If you haven't or don't usually visit, get out to Edgewater for a sunset this summer. (Roof views and seasonal palms were at The Shoreway)
  15. I lived at The Osborn for 5 years. It's my favorite street in Cleveland– extremely charming. Activating it in the ways above would be incredible.
  16. This spot should return to the Greenhouse concept. Something like Heart of Gold but here, reignite the rooftop, bring back the greatest wings on earth, good fries, fun specials and boom you're back. The most recent concepts were bad and suited for the suburbs.
  17. Facebook commenters are claiming developers did this to move faster. Goes to show how little they know about the development process in this city. This sucks! Now we’ll have an abandoned burned funeral home and lots that likely won’t be developed for a significant amount of time.

  19. Yes. Here are a couple of shots from the shoreway. This is 2/3 Bobby NEEDS to allow full demo of the dilapidated structure for Irishtown Bend. He now has this one and downtown above Harry Buffalo. One left. Let's hope the next one isn't worse than this.
  20. Slife had a great comment even though he voted no. As one neighbor who disapproved claimed they don't push back on every project but this one is a complete no-go because height, safety of children, traffic, and parking. Slife essentially called out all of the pushback near west side gets on development and said what everyone is thinking– what kind of development is acceptable to you all? You can't just say nothing should be built here if it's not single family/two family housing. That's not what this area is. I also liked Flukers comment that followed calling out OCI for their ineptness here in staying neutral on opinion. OCI sent a rep who basically said we have allowed the public to comment plenty of times and we don't take any side here. It's clear to me the problems aren't with height or traffic, these neighbors oppose change they disagree with to the point it becomes an identity. The block clubs are echo chambers. They don't serve the neighborhood any benefit as it relates to commenting on development. OCI should be stronger in pushing the neighborhood forward through fact based thought/input as opposed to letting public input lead conversations. A strong organization is one that allows leaders and subject matter experts to do their things but actively listens to it's constituents to answer to concerns AND helps those leaders/subject matter experts do their jobs with less roadblocks.
  21. Proposed renderings of what the future Visible Voice Books in OHC at 4601 Lorain Ave will look like.
  22. Moving this conversation here. My comments from above stand even more so. Hating the people who live/want to live and thrive in your area... unreal. Have fun in Tremont (with the same demographic).
  23. Agreed! I can't wait for all the seats to be blue. SRO and cheap monthly passes are the way of the future. Pack them in at a cost effective way. I prefer SRO to "good" seats (most of the time). More places we have to stand and drink, the better.
