  1. A reuse of 3 buildings owned by MyPlace into a shared courtyard for micro-restaurants and a bar at 3007 Detroit Ave
  2. I've been in contact with them for a hotel block for a wedding of mine. They said renovations are slated to be complete by June/July 2024. Here are some renderings from their contract:

An awesome overview on how NIMBY's in San Fran furthered issues with unaffordable housing/issues with homelessness. (from 16:26 to 20:10)
  4. For everyone not in the know, Welcome To The Farm in the flats is co-owned by Chase Rice (country musician). The bar is very popular and has been attracting Chase and his friends. It's a bit of a mini-Nashville for lack of a better term. More and more live music there, random celebrities showing up and playing a few songs or some sing-a-longs (recently Zach Bryan showed up). Next to it is FWD which has major DJs scheduled all summer. Elsewhere throughout the city, new clubs are popping up so the scene isn't just West 6th/West 9th. (crobar, Smoke & Mirrors, etc.) We already have mainstays like Mahals/Happy Dog/etc. but in general, this type of little outdoor spot for musicians is huge for The Flats becoming a music destination. I wasn't able to see The Flats when it was comparable to NOLA or when rock music was at it's biggest but there has been real growth in the scene.
  5. In this weeks Ohio City community meeting, OCI said there would be another meeting on December 5th because there are 4-5 projects that needed to be shown to the community as they’re vying for tax abatement before it lowers at years end. I am wondering what projects those are.
  6. When I joined this forum I did! Lived downtown from 2015-2021. Ohio City since 2021.
  7. Spending a day downtown (the quietest day of the week) and coming to that conclusion isn't quite fair. Understanding the downtown population and how it's calculated will help better understand, it's not just E 9th, West 6th, West 9th and The Flats. There are a lot of pockets with population that add up to the 20k from Cleveland State to the West Bank of The Flats. In my time living downtown, Sundays are quiet unless there's a double header event (two sporting events, a sporting event and a concert, etc.) There are plenty of corner stores, there used to be two CVS (no need), multiple liquor stores, all sorts of restaurants/bars/entertainment, multiple grocery stores, etc. Plenty of amenities and things bringing people out. Sundays are just a quiet day.
  8. I live next to this development. I walk it twice daily. I drive past it multiple times a week. All at various hours of the day and night. There is so much parking available on side streets.
  9. Historically, it's been an awful strip club/night club with a rough crowd. They have a permit pending but it's waiting for Landmarks review so I'm going to assume whatever work being done is illegal. https://www.cleveland.com/metro/2019/12/brawls-drugs-and-a-rape-linked-to-downtown-cleveland-strip-club-authorities-are-trying-to-shutter.html
  10. 2061 Gehring Ave will be renovated back into storefronts.
  11. We prioritize what's most important and I'm a firm believer in protecting that time/energy. Arguing with people set in their ways isn't a way I'd prefer to spend my time. I'm in technology for a reason– not law or politics. I do write in support and gather support from other like minded folk to write in as well.
  12. Update: It passed at Landmarks (7-1). Michelle was the lone "no". I'm not sure where Julie was but the rest of the committee voted in favor. I don't think it'll have issues at CPC but I could see them asking for different materials. NIMBY's are close to defeat here.
  13. My favorite are the comments from the owners of B&G tavern who own almost the entire west portion of West 45th between Lorain and Bridge. Most of these they use as unregistered rentals and continue to decay/age without remedy. One of their lots is a former city park lot. They commented about how the developers didn't include public green space... yet they own a former city owned lot that functioned as a community space long ago which sits in decay. They have the audacity to ask for green space and claim all of the apartments are empty in the area. So frustrating.
  14. I fear Julie and Michelle will be arguing "it's too big" and "not enough parking" again like the July 27th review. Hopefully Director Huang speaks with them before the meeting and reminds them of what their role is as she was mostly supportive of the first proposal.
  15. They started hiring for bartenders and barbacks a few weeks back. I'd expect an opening soon (November/December).
  16. I think the quotes from him in the article are telling. He's good at running hospitality businesses the youth resonate with. I think him owning these spaces and having a hand in whatever the businesses do within each is more in line with his core competencies. What no one is discussing is that he now owns the FWD space (a competitor to him with his Barley House bar/club). It will be interesting to see how that plays out. I think that's his true play here. As much as I don't enjoy a George owned business, please end Margaritaville and replace it with something Bobby.
  17. Bobby George acquires more of the Flat's East Bank https://www.crainscleveland.com/real-estate/bobby-george-wolsteins-reach-deal-stake-flats-east-bank-retail-properties
  18. It's hard not to think that this, and it moving quickly, could be the biggest momentum boosting event for Cleveland development in years.
  19. UCS bringing a nice little addition to their outdoor sports facilities to their campus. refugeeresponse_1696606478_3207690262369347294_1483621354.mp4
  20. Watching the presentation. Michelle Anderson "serious concern" about lack of parking for the park is SO frustrating. She has no place on this board.
  21. The infighting is absolutely true. I know the nephew who inherited part of it is all in so this court ordered stuff makes a lot of sense.
  22. Harbor Bay also closed on a property in Salt Lake City this past February. It could be their attention is elsewhere for the time being. https://www.multihousingnews.com/harbor-bay-ventures-acquires-salt-lake-city-site/
  23. So ridiculous… I wish I was petty enough to post this rendering on the OHC Facebook group and say it’s too tall and doesn’t fit the historical context of the neighborhood. He’s against almost every development in his little corner of Lorain. There is so much parking on Lorain.
  24. An institution that doesn't get talked about enough. I know the owner(s) and am somewhat surprised to see this. Ownership changed hands during COVID when Pete passed away. I don't think the building will change use, that's for sure. It's a gem with the bathrooms, fireplaces, beautiful bar and booths, wonderful patio.
  25. Stone Mad is up for sale. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/6600-Herman-Ave-Cleveland-OH/29677583/
