  1. I don't think so. It looks like Graham Vesey just put in a permit for "Summer Picnic - Popup Food Service" at that address (2817 Detroit Ave). https://ca.permitcleveland.org/public/Cap/CapDetail.aspx?Module=BuildingHousing&TabName=BuildingHousing&capID1=23BHO&capID2=00000&capID3=06678&agencyCode=COC&IsToShowInspection=
  2. Love my home on West 48th. The area around it is incredible, sandwiched between Gordon Square/Battery Park and W 25th. With Lorain and Detroit coming alive, the lake so close, this area is truly the place to be for the price you pay.
  3. A development in the works from the sounds of it! I think they've recently started reaching out to locals in the area/businesses. Forest City Brewery referenced it in a Facebook/Instagram post last week as it's going to remove some large trees: https://www.facebook.com/forestcitybrewery "a developer wants to cram 6 units onto 2 small lots. The usual for duck island. These three tree canopies hang over into the small lots. I order to build the 4 story, 6 units, they would have to remove the canopy, killing the trees."
  4. Big fan of these developers filling spaces with their own hospitality offerings. As much as I appreciate the local community and businesses moving into new builds, it seems like a no-brainer to build and fill rather than let sit vacant waiting for a local business to swoop in and fill. (These might be local proprietors filling it but it feels like it's a similar situation to The Intro)
  5. With things like Patron Saint, The Judith, and others, there really are some awesome historical renovations happening all over. To think, there are dozen of other retail buildings on Detroit and Lorain that could get this same treatment and flourish... and how about all those houses on Franklin, Clinton and all the side streets that have gone untouched for decades. Ohio City may seem "popular" now but there is SO much still to be done and revitalized– it's beyond exciting.
  6. Updated plans for 45 West final local landmarks review on May 4th: https://res.cloudinary.com/courbanize-production/image/upload/v1/information_plans/xjnya7wke4buvfkio5y7 Setbacks have been updated at the top level seemingly and some minor materiality changes. Updated plans for 50 West final local landmarks review on May 4th: https://res.cloudinary.com/courbanize-production/image/upload/v1/information_plans/lysd66jarffvqdbwfm8z Looks like balcony's have been removed and some other minor materiality changes. As a reminder, it's possible to add comments for the record to these by emailing [email protected] no later than Tuesday, May 2nd at 12 pm.
  7. It should absolutely be a requirement those who sit on a commission and serve the city of Cleveland also live in the city of Cleveland, not Solon. I am just happy to have Joyce Huang's voice alongside newer member Jonathan Bonezzi to push forward on these initiatives. Good news is that Bridgeworks is moving on but we really need to figure out commission members in the future.
  8. For both 45 West and 50 West, when I watched the Landmarks meeting, it seemed as though they will approve based on some large, but not project ending, changes (especially to 45 West). FWIW Today, Landmarks approved Bridgeworks revised design (extra floor and garage). The vote was 5-2. Landmarks members: Alan Dreyer and Michele Anderson continue to push back on progressive, urban renewal efforts. Alan voted no because the garages lights would "disturb the way of life in surrounding neighborhoods". Michele voted no because it's "too overwhelming".
  9. That means most of the buildings on this little stretch of Detroit will be getting new life in some way. 5017 sold and is being renovated into retail/apartments. 5007 Detroit is pending sale to a veterinarian. 5103 and the empty car lot on the corner are the only ones left.
  10. I see the space up on Loopnet now: https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/6101-Detroit-Ave-Cleveland-OH/28204658/
  11. I guess I meant "super exciting" relative to a big new development. I agree– if it is what it appears to be, that's a lot of office space occupied and new jobs on Lorain.
  12. Nothing super exciting but GSA is putting an office in at 4321 Lorain Ave https://ca.permitcleveland.org/public/Cap/CapDetail.aspx?Module=BuildingHousing&TabName=BuildingHousing&capID1=23BHO&capID2=00000&capID3=04792&agencyCode=COC&IsToShowInspection=
  13. Because the only way us Browns fans can experience what it's like to be at a super bowl is if Cleveland hosted one for two other teams... Jokes aside, totally agree. A dome is worthless unless Jimmy is paying for it all.
  14. I have to imagine those are going to be big retractable windows/doors. Very nice!
  15. The updated renderings look even better! Really hoping these actually come to life. Unfortunately, the local NIMBY's are throwing a fit on the Facebook. Urgent calls for action have been posted and they will be out in full force. Meeting on the books for Thursday, April 6th, at 6pm at OCI (3308 Lorain Ave, Cleveland, OH 44113) If you're in support of this project and can't be there for the meeting on Thursday, you can email [email protected] to enter in written support.
  16. Transformative for the area– look at those views.

  18. It will not. It actually speeds up demolition per Ohio City Inc rep Chris Schmitt.
  19. Meanwhile, Yours Truly is thriving, Zaytoon is in a good spot, 1942 Tequila seems to be fine. The restaurants and bars in Playhouse Square are overpriced, bland and generic. Driftwood has consistently been underwhelming in their offerings. People don't want basic burgers and tasteless appetizers especially when there are lots of better food options within a 5-10 minute walk in any given direction. Draw in the Amex card holders with big parties that would prefer any restaurant on East 4th or across the bridge in Ohio City/Tremont by changing your offering OR cater to the current crowd and find a way to bring in the young/student population within that area.
  20. Can't find any permits about this project, so odd. @marty15said last month the last they heard it was going to be an oyster bar.
  21. We all know these designs still need to go through the committees and they will evolve. I walk/drive this stretch almost daily, broken glass lines the sidewalks, spray painted storefronts dominate, ivy growing through windows. While there is a lot of renewal happening, new builds that increase density/population to this massive street should be welcome with open arms and the design/details can be worked out in the process. We are not past the days of being excited for new builds that add population, mediocre or generic.
  22. Hilariously, there are people opposed in the community. The current buildings are currently graffiti ridden/dilapidated but MY PARKING. As someone who lives on 48th, I will be active in the support of this project at all phases to drown that non-sense out. Lorain Ave should welcome all multi-family development.
  23. This wasn't mentioned in the January meeting but is going to be discussed tomorrow, February 21st along with demo/renovation plans for St. Ignatius gymnasium on Carrol Ave.
  24. Cafe's like Gypsy Beans that offer more than just coffee but sandwiches and salads, etc. are so important to urban fabric. I'm so happy to have that there and especially happy to see some new cafes adopting the model (The Judith on W 52 and Lorain is amazing/Edda on W 25th).
  25. Lakewood, Edgewater, Detroit-Shoreway, Ohio City is what I'd think of off the jump in 2023. I've heard stories of the west edge of Ohio City that borders Detroit-Shoreway in the 80's being a true gayborhood and there's some history to back that up here: https://case.edu/ech/articles/g/gay-community
