Columbus owners threatening development because a property adjacent to theirs might be redeveloped. Next level NIMBYism here. Those lawyers and their threats to raise costs to the city are despicable– unreal.

Upper decks will be MUCH better experiences with these changes. The areas they're targeting have been ripe for a social conversion. Multiple "social spaces" will be a lot better for attendance throughout the year without a doubt. Also, I miss Bud at these games so much.

As of 2022 property records claim the top 2 residential levels are cleared for occupancy, the 1st floor retail space is not. "1 ST FLOOR RETAIL (2376 PROFESSOR) NOT COMPLETE 1-1-2022 REINSPECT: 2023 FOR OCCUPANCY."

Wow. That's rough! It's worth noting the AA building is right next to Imposters Theatre which will be moving to Lorain Ave. I wonder if that property will be up for sale.

Amazing! 4601 Lorain Ave has changed owners and is now slated to be renovated/renewed. This means every property (other than the lone remaining car lot between the new townhouses and Forest City Shuffleboard) on Lorain between West 45th and West 48th has been/or is slated to be renovated and made use of as storefront or living. This stretch will be very active in development. With a few new additions down the street (improv theatre, new furniture store, new coffee shop, etc.) and existing retail starting to fill in before it, I imagine Lorain between West 48th and West 54th will be active in the coming years too. https://ca.permitcleveland.org/public/Cap/CapDetail.aspx?Module=BuildingHousing&TabName=BuildingHousing&capID1=22BHO&capID2=00000&capID3=17285&agencyCode=COC&IsToShowInspection=

Lorain Ave revival is happening but greatly needs pedestrian walkability/safety improvements. I really hope funding can be figured out for the bike track.

Awesome showing from neighborhood YIMBY's in shutting down NIMBY's minority voice against improving a neighborhood because "not enough parking". 2915 Detroit Ave (Vitrolite Building) is proceeding to the other committees now. If you CHOOSE to live somewhere that has no driveway/garage/dedicated parking spot, you have not right to claim parking as your own since you do not have dedicated parking. If you want dedicated parking buy/rent a place with a driveway, garage, or dedicated parking spot. It really is that simple. The only valid complaints about parking are people illegally parking (not in a parking space, blocking entrances/exits/sidewals, etc.). It really blows my mind how those that live in a city think street parking is reserved for them and them only.

His other property on Bridge and 45th has been cited for unpermitted signs (religious signs all over the old church), using the church for unpermitted uses, etc. I'm wondering if the Detroit Ave project/property has similar issues.

Miscellaneous Ohio Political News
Abysmal voter turnout from the urban core and lower income areas of Cleveland. Dem's can't win elections because they can't turn out people to vote. https://liveresults.boe.ohio.gov/ENR/cuyohenr/20/en/Index_20.html

Follow up: Looks like James plans to save the building instead of demoing. A truly great ambassador to Lorain Ave and the neighborhood as a whole.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
It sat empty as a retail space for nearly a decade. This is more than welcome especially in the context of turning the area into an actual neighborhood. Will be a really cool feature on big game days, a nice place for a national spotlight during those playoff runs.

Or the city writing up these owners for building violations and policy to reform vacant/unused property through taxation/penalties. I will say, I don't think $600k is too high for that spot on Detroit.

If I remember from the meetings, they ended up getting the approval after a ton of back and forth. I wonder if it was a ploy to kick out the tenants . https://ca.permitcleveland.org/public/Cap/CapDetail.aspx?Module=BuildingHousing&TabName=BuildingHousing&capID1=20CAP&capID2=00000&capID3=00B46&agencyCode=COC&IsToShowInspection=

I wonder what his plans would be. Expansion? New concept? I know the prior owner wanted to demo the building. Regardless, hopefully it can be preserved and James work toward preserving/amplifying this stretch of Lorian can be heightened.

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
Downtown is noticeably closer to pre-pandemic levels even without sports. Houses are still selling for way over asking in popular neighborhoods. Jobs are still open. Companies are still hiring. The city is actually making progress on internal infrastructure and making decisions that have been held off for so long– Cleveland is doing just fine.

Residents over here competing with Hessler Street residents on the "I'm not anti-development BUT don't develop anything here unless it's single family homes" anti-development take. Literal people in new builds from 2013 in Battery Park complaining about new development because it doesn't fit their single family home mindset. Guess what, you all didn't purchase the land. Charles Slife NAILED it, by the way

Apologies, I missed sharing this with all here: City Goods is leasing all of the hangars in an effort to provide a low-cost solution to small business owners. Please watch their presentation to understand more about their mission. There will be a bar, access to shared staffing for all tenants, required hours opened, assistance with marketing, pop-up events, and more. The proprietor, Sam, is from the small business background having scaled his families business Chargin Valley Soap and Salve. I think it's unique and hope it succeeds.
