Cleveland: Housing Market
As someone who bought and knows people who are buying 350k+ houses in Ohio City, the tax abatement was a cherry on top of something that would have been purchased regardless.

This excites me very much! Been waiting for this beautiful building to be converted into something more impactful!

To bolster what I said above, a few more videos from the summer shot at Jefferson Park– this area has plenty of gang activity. I think anyone in the area that is affiliated are with LaFlexico/BBE900. It's gonna be a HOT summer– these folks don't discriminate where/when/who.

No surprise here! Kids have been posted up around Jefferson Park for some time now filming videos with guns out in the open.

An interesting property transfer on Lorain: Long vacant 4517 Lorain Ave was purchased for $700,000 by a "BETLEY BOOKS, LLC" registered to David Ferrante of Visible Voice Books in Tremont.

Definitely feel where you're coming from. I really love the new build on West 52nd near Bridge with all the windows. It's a really cool house. Feel similar about this build! Big windows, open spaces, California feels with the sideyard patio. Love it!

I too live on the street and pass this daily. The house is being built by someone who lives in a beautiful historic home on Whitman so I think they have good taste. The pitch is dramatic, that's for sure. The architect is Michael Horton, of Horton Harper. I am a fan of their work so I have to assume the end design will look pleasing. Here's a render:

They posted yesterday on their Instagram account that a new staircase was going in: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cb3A6A-JAYf/ Work seems to be progressing but I too am very excited to have them back.

https://www.cleveland19.com/2022/03/22/me-identifies-man-shot-dead-rta-bus-clevelands-east-side/ Already arrested, seems he shot himself during the altercation too. Guns are a symptom of the plague that is poverty and poor education.

Yes, posted above. No work done on that property yet but their property on 47th and Bridge has begun. They are actively digging.

Man, what a change from the last administration. Such a simple decision, but truly awesome after years of ugly barriers there ruining a perfectly fine design.

Really hoping this one brings back missing adventurous/interesting food feel in a warm, welcoming neighborhood establishment that East 4th had with Greenhouse Tavern. I'm happy Greenhouses former spot is filled but the feel within the redeveloped space is very inauthentic feeling.

Cleveland: Superior Arts District: Development and News
This area is the first of many important pieces for a more cohesive connection to the surrounding neighborhoods going east of Downtown. This coupled with the Superior Avenue Midway and new emphasis on AsiaTown investment– so awesome.

It is not! I believe they said they will be taking the west half of the parking lot so it will certainly be a smaller footprint. Still hoping someone buys Byright Auto Sales... the building is for sale.

Fencing up around this lot! Looks like Knez wants to develop both The Amelia and this in tandem. Exciting!

Finally, something happened directly in it. Usually the fights spill out and on to the street. The restaurant shouldn’t have a liquor license with all the things that go on here… a shooting during all star week– so sad. https://go.citizen.com/kfhIBL7kOnb

Agreed. While I emphasize with my neighbors across and beside the development, the fact is that what used to be there was a dilapidated gas station retrofitted to be a mechanic shop that was a drug front. To argue the size is too big for the area is a non-starter. It meets code and fronts Bridge which definitely calls for higher density development. To completely ignore what was there versus what will be there is insanity. The "little old blue house" used to be next door to convicted killers and extremely dangerous people. Perspective seems to get lost so often when neighbors jump on developers like this. Cleveland, say it with me, YES IN MY BACKYARD. This, to me, is one of the most important corners connecting Ohio City with Detroit Shoreway. The current empty lot is like one of the empty surface lots downtown in context to Ohio City/Detroit Shoreway– it is huge and makes it feel like there is a clear cutoff between neighborhoods. The scary thing is that this would have been fought harder by block clubs down the street. Thankfully block club 45-52 keeps perspective and approved this on it's first go-around.

The appeal was finally heard and Board of Zoning Appeals voted to reverse the planning commissions denial of the application. We might see some development here after all!

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
In all the current options, Lorain Ave loses some parking as it's being turned into a one lane road both ways but parking will still be provided in certain locations on the north side. "Lorain Avenue will be reduced to a single lane in each direction with left turn lanes provided at signalized intersections and parking provided along the north side of the street as available. Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
Detroit Ave already has bike lanes, unprotected. Extending accessibility and pedestrian friendliness to Lorain Ave is crucial to extending the rehabilitation west and south of Ohio City/Detroit Shoreway.
