Sandusky-Erie Islands: Random Development and News
From the Sandusky Register: NASA plans 'rebirth' at Plum Brook Tuesday September 11 2007, 2:24pm PERKINS TWP. NASA Plum Brook Station is undergoing a "rebirth" and heading into its busiest time since the boom days of the Apollo program. NASA officials announced Monday they will build a new entrance to NASA Plum Brook, allowing motorists access via Scheid Road off of U.S. 250. They said they also hope to build a space-themed attraction at Plum Brook to draw tourists who already come to the Sandusky area to visit Cedar Point and the waterparks. http://www.sanduskyregister.com/articles/2007/09/11/front/402790.txt

Northeast Ohio / Cleveland: General Transit Thread
The Huron County Transit System routinely runs to Oberlin, I believe, to coordinate with Lorain County Transit for runs to Hopkins International. Actually, looking at the website, I was surprised to see that HCT makes out of county runs to Cleveland, Akron, Mansfield, and Toledo. It also makes runs to the Route 250 strip (big-box retail land, south of Sandusky) Not too shabby for a county that has a total population less than the city of Lorain! http://www.huroncountytransit.net/index.html

Miscellaneous Ohio Political News
Rep. Gillmor represented the district area where I grew up (although now my part of Erie County is in Rep. Kaptur's 9th District); although he was socially conservative on the hotbutton issues, he had many great ideas and took care of his district. Thank you for your service, Mr. Gillmor.

Milan, Ohio - Birthplace of Thomas Edison
The Invention is still open; and some nice older homes can be found along South Main and South Center streets (South Edison Drive, also). Also I believe that all buildings on the town square have a 100% no-vacancy rate; or at least a couple of years ago they did. zipsrifle............I will have to disagree..........Pizza, Sub's, and Suds in Monroeville has the best pizza in NC Ohio!!! :) By the way, are you an Edison grad?

Amazing shot! Speaking of the US drought conditions, how are conditions in everyone else's part of the Buckeye state?! The past two days brought a few light showers that probably totaled less than 5 minutes worth of rain and maybe 0.05 inches of rain! As a matter of fact, using the NWS website, our area is between 3 and 4 inches below normal for rainfall during the last 30 days! The crops are starting to show signs of the lack of precip!

Poll: Your political leanings
I tend to vote--like I'm sure most of y'all do--for the best candidate. And in my eyes and experiences, 9 times out of 10 I find the Democratic candidate to be the best choice. My vote is also influenced by my surroundings and upbringing. My dad's side of the family (from the Sandusky area) are generally all registered as Democrats. Something about Erie County and our tendency to lean center-left amazes me, since most surrounding counties often tend to lean center-right. Then again, we're right in the middle of a swing-area in a swing-state (if that makes any sense). My mom's side of the family (from eastern Indiana) typically vote more conservatively; mainly for fiscal reasons I believe--although there are quite a few registered D's too. My mother is a hard-core liberal. As for being socially liberal, I am just that. I kind of have to be ;) ; equal rights are a must in a free society! -- ------------------------------------------------ Totally off topic..............but.....................I am glad we don't have a food tax in Ohio as they do in other states such as Illinois (where I go to school); if I order a $0.99 Baked Potato from Wendy's, goddamnit, I don't want to pay $1.08! LOL
